One of the best hair salons in Riverside, the staff is great and did a good job following the CDC safety guidelines. I have curly hair type 4c and was hesitant of having someone color/style it, but after seeing Andreas work I felt confident and decided to go in. Andrea did my hair and did an amazing job, she also offered advice on how to care for my curls. read more

I saw Violette last week for a cut and wave and she did a fantastic job! She gave me just the right amount of wave without making my hair too curly or making me look like a poodle :-) The assistants and front desk staff were also very nice, and they were able to fit me in the same week I called. I'd definitely return. read more

This review is really late, but in December I made an appointment with Marienette for a balayage. Before my appointment Marienette asked me what I was looking for as well as anything she needed to know about my hair. She also double checked this information once I actually arrived at the salon for my appointment. During my appointment, I was taken care of very well. Both Marienette and her assistant did everything they could to explain what they were doing/why and were very attentive to me throughout the entire time I was there, constantly checking whether they were hurting me or not. Marienette was also able to thoroughly explain the kind of colors she was using as well as what to expect as a product with my hair type. When everything was finished, Marienette made sure that I was happy with the final product. In addition to the balayage, she also gave me the best haircut and styling. Overall I probably spent around 3-4 hours there, but I was comfortable the whole time thanks to Marienette and her assistant. I will say that the final product turned out a little lighter than I had originally wanted it to be, but it still looks amazing, which is why I didn't knock off any stars for that. Even almost a month later, I am still extremely happy with everything. Side note: you do have to make an appointment a month in advance if you want to see Marienette, but I think that this gave me time to really look into the look/style that I wanted. Also, if you are looking into getting a balayage here, it is a little pricey so plan on this before coming in. read more

Every couple years I get the itch to chop all my hair off. I'm quite lucky in that my hair grows pretty fast and is super healthy (never dyed) so I like to chop 12-24 inches at a time. I don't have a regular salon so when I was looking around I was happy to have been able to walk-in here and just wait 20 or so minutes before a stylist was available. Andrea was able to see me and was super great to work with. After showing her pictures of what I was thinking, I was content to put my confidence in her to do what she does best. I'm very happy with the cut and in a couple years when I need another drastic chop, I'll definitely be happy to come back here. The only issue I had was that the salon does not donate cut hair on your behalf and I was stuck with the bag of hair trying to find a salon that would take it and donate it to those in need. read more

I walked in this morning hoping to secure an appointment in advance for my wedding day in May. The receptionist greeted me right away, but she had no clue which stylist offers bridal hair services. She approached the first hairstylist that was next to the reception desk that was in the middle of her appointment. I understand you're occupied, but no need to be rude. The hairstylist just turned around & looked at me, saying can you just write your name & number down so I can call you later. Are you serious is that how you greet potential customers?? Horrible hospitality!!! I was appalled by the treatment & just walked out after I left my number on the post it note, the clueless receptionist offered me. That receptionist didn't even stay there to complete her service with me she just walked away. That is terrible customer service I will never consider your salon again!!! You lost my business even before gaining it. Too bad, I had to write this review. Oh by the way, at the end of your day, I didn't even receive a phone call. I guess you weren't interested in gaining my patronage anyways! read more

I want to start off by saying that Ashleigh was so kind! She truly was so sweet and tried to make me feel comfortable as a first time client, however I came in for a haircut and wanted medium to long layers with my curtain bangs retouched. I have very thin hair and have spent months growing it out so it could be strong for an upcoming dye I have. When I was getting my haircut we started with my curtain bangs, which were a little thick but I thought she would kinda curve them more down as the appointment proceeded. She then started cutting my layers, and at that point I think I should have said something but as a first time client I felt extremely anxious to say no. I'm not a hairdresser by any means, but I did start to question the cut as she did my layers because she grabbed almost the top half of my head and just cut across bluntly. She then proceeded to give me internal layers, something I've never heard of but after researching is probably great for someone with a bit thicker hair, but it just left me with 80% hair on top and 20% hair on bottom. Part of me is devastated because it takes an extremely long time to grow my hair out and it was very full and long before I came to the salon, but the other part of me feels like I should have said something to prevent it. Either way, I won't be returning and will be using hair gummies and serums for the next couple of months! I would just warn ahead to be prepared to say what you want exactly because I did not and I should have. I think Ashleigh is extremely kind and welcoming, I just wish that she had asked before giving me internal and external layers because (I feel like) it took too much of my hair and I would have felt better with just the external layers. read more

Let me just say everyone at D salon is nice, welcoming, and respectful. This salon has such a great and fun atmosphere, I always love coming in for my appointment.   Andrea has been doing my hair for four years and she is the absolute BEST stylist I've ever had. I came to her four years ago with red/brown hair (see below 1st photo). My inspiration photo was the new Netflix Sabrina white blonde color. Andrea was up front with me stating it would most likely not get white blonde the first try or even second try. She told me that to get that platinum blonde would be a process and to be patient. I respected the honesty and I accepted to continue to the process. Andrea told me she would do her best to get me to an ashy blonde without harming my hair and she DELIVERED! After a full day at the salon going from red/brown she got me to an ash blonde (also see below 2nd photo). Since I still wanted to go platinum, we decided from then on out we were going to do a bleach and tone. With this process she warned me that I would be coming in every 4-6 weeks. I agreed to this because I wanted to be platinum blonde. Fast forward to maybe a few months later we finally got my hair to the white / platinum blonde because I was patient and trusted her process! (See third photo). My hair has been platinum blonde ever since!   I invested in the products she tells me because it keeps my hair healthy and white! When she tells me I need a trim, I get a trim. I trust her completely because everything that she has done and tells me to do has kept my hair white and healthy for years!   Andrea is an honest and talented stylist. She will tell you what is good for your hair and what is not good for your hair. Andrea is amazing and she really is the blonde genius. I truly do get compliments on the weekly about the color and health of my hair. She puts in the work and I put in the work as well, it's truly a team effort and a commitment. :) TRUST THE PROCESS AND YOUR STYLIST!! read more

Where do I even start? I have been going here for almost 8 years now and I swear I will never ever go anywhere else! Andrea is seriously the best person out there and I am so thankful I found her. Everyone I have sent to her have always been impressed and keep coming! Not only is she a great stylist, she's an amazing human being. She is so informative about the process and will never do anything to my hair that would damage it. I'm currently red, but when I first started going to her I was transitioning to blonde. But seriously - she's pretty talented with blonde. I'm originally an ash brown color, but she knew exactly what to do and even though it took a couple of appointments.. I trusted the process, I NEVER missed or delayed an appointment, and I have yet to be disappointed. I always listen to every tip and piece of advice she had to keep my hair healthy. She knows what's best! All the staff that work there are so kind and always make all my experiences so fun. I am happy that not only do I have an amazing stylist available, but a therapist, and a huge salon family when I really need it read more

Was interested in making an appointment so I texted M-nette as her phone number was plastered all over the yelp pictures just to get no reply. I then attempted to make an appointment through Yelp and after giving them my phone number was told that a stylist would text me. I have to say that I'm very surprised by the two negative responses for the stylist Andrea. I want to warn people that in the hospitality and services business people are statistically more likely to remember and take the time to write a terrible review than they are to write a good one. It's sad that an honest and hard worker, who knows and does her job well, would get berated by a few "Karen's" who didn't get their way. Sad that good people do not get the kudos due to them. As for my experience, I wish there was more time and more words to describe my experience with Andrea. Andrea is a straight shooter who doesn't beat around the bush and is always up front about everything. If a color will not work she will be truthful. She makes awesome recommendations and she really knows her stuff! She does not rush through her processes and she really tries to please her clients by giving them what they want while trying to still maintain her integrity as a professional and skilled stylist. Meaning- she doesn't just color and style people's hair without first explaining the do's and don't's and she will not shy away from pointing out a bad idea if she thinks it will damage your hair. She is kind and always professional. Andrea goes with the flow and allows the client to dictate the mood, if you want to chat or sit quietly, she accommodates vibes. She is always very courteous and attentive. She always asks if I'm ok and if I need water. One time I injured my tailbone snowboarding and she was so concerned and went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable in the chair and made sure I didn't sit for too long. I believe that communication is key in these situations and most likely the 2 awful reviews on here against Andrea were due to lack Of communication or possibly bias. I think Andrea is probably the best stylist I've ever had in my 40 years of life and I highly recommend her. She is skilled, very stylish, knows the trends, very honest, and super attentive. She is worth every penny. Don't believe.... Make an appointment and prove me wrong! Pictures coming soon! read more

I got my balayage done by Marienette. My hair had never been dyed before so she explained the whole process to me and told me what would be a reasonable outcome to expect given the darkness of my hair. She only lifts the color of your natural hair to what it can handle, and gives you the closest possible look to what you're looking for. She also gave me a detailed cost breakdown, which I really appreciated, and also included the price of the haircut which is super nice! I paid $350 (including optional olaplex $85 and tip) and I am really happy with the results. Marienette truly cares about her clients and I highly recommend her to anyone looking to get a balayage! UPDATE: It has been a month since I got my hair done and I have never loved my hair more! However, there was a small segment of baby hairs in the front that didn't hold the toner very well. When I reached out to Marienette, she worked me into her busy schedule and fixed this segment for me, free of charge!! Marienette is seriously the best!! read more

Ashleigh is THEEEE absolute best!! I went in for a cut last week (8/17) I knew I was going to have to cut a good bit off because my ends looked so sad and dry and Ashleigh broke the hard news to me. I'd have to cut a couple inches off :( For a lot of us our inches are EVERYTHING but she took the time to educate me on why it was important to cut the damage off and work on a better hair care routine. Ashleigh was so kind and patient, she gave me her recommendations which have made my hair already feel better in the week I've been using them. The way she cut my hair made my curls instantly bounce back to life. I've had reset cuts in the past, but for some reason my hair always looked sad and bland afterwards. Ashleigh's technique is amazing she has a great hand and my hair looks so good, my mom is driving in from LA to get a cut too. I honestly had such a great experience here with Marienette and her team. I was very nervous showing up for my balayage because i has never been to the salon before, but they made me feel very at home. I went in with a vague idea of what i wanted and Marienette worked with me to make sure i had a color and style that i would really like. She blended my roots with the lightened hair so well it looks like it could have been natural. I opted in for an Olaplex treatment and my hair literally feels so soft now even after crazy amounts of bleach. Her prices were very fair, and i left feeling like a disney princess. Marienette had my original review removed on a technicality- lol - I came to this place because of the yelp reviews but I see that Marienette has the bad reviews removed. So sad to abuse a forum for people that need honest reliable information/reviews. Marienette charged me $235 for a service that I was not satisfied with. I was there from 10:30 to 6pm. MY back was hurting from sitting there allll day long waiting for her to finish! I didn't know D stood for the GRADE?? ... it should be F Salon then!! She was late and rude to ME. Please stay away!! I will be posting the real complete review on other places that let parents post the honest truth for their children since they are NOT 18 and not allowed to post their own reviews per YELP guidelines. So Marienette you can chase me around trying to delete all my honest reviews instead of trying to resolve the issue. It's so weird - YELP has this survey question below "Good for kids?" My first appointment I scheduled was with Marienette (Mnette), I was looking for good salons to redo my ombre since I usually do mine in LA. I wasn't willing to drive so I went on Yelp to look at some near my area. I found reviews online of this place near my location, and specifically found that Mnette was great at ombres. I was wanting to achieve a silver grey ombre so I went to her since reading on Yelp found that she was great in that area. Once I met her, best person ever. I knew I was in good hands, she was the most charismatic person I've ever met. She makes the time fly by! She asked questions on how I wanted my hair to be, how I wanted, because she does care. My end results were flawless! Her service was amazing, request her, she's worth it. How long was the process: I asked to redo over my old ombre to a silver ombre and since I have dark asian hair, it was 5+ hours; in most cases it wouldn't take this long but I wanted a huge change. The end results: Flawless! I've gotten so many compliments, It was a complete 180 new look for me. If you're ever wanting to get your hair done, go to Mnette! read more

D Salon - Ombre hair result by Marienette :D - Hair Salons Near Me - Riverside, California

I had my hair transformed by Marienette and her assistant Violet, and they did an absolutely amazing job. My hair was last done 10 months ago as an ashy gray/blonde balayage ombre. Fast forward 10 months later, all the gray had faded into blonde and my hair was in dire need of a retouch. I used to live in south OC and had my hair done in Westminster, but have since moved and was looking for a salon in the IE. I chose D Salon and Marienette based on reviews and from the recommendations of mutual friends. Prices for lightening start at $185, which includes 2 bowls of hair dye, cut and style. Each extra bowl used is an additional $15 and an additional $75 if you want to use Olaplex (an amazing product that prevents further damage from lightening your hair). The entire process took about 5.5 hours with the lightening, Olaplex treatment, cut and style and the end result was gorgeous. Marienette is talented at what she does and I was very happy with the result. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is basically the price, which is not under her control. When I had my hair done by my stylist in Westminster, my hair was about 4-5 inches longer AND thicker (I lost a lot of hair after delivering my baby and nursing afterwards). The quality of work was just as good as Marienette's and also included cut and style, as well as a Brazilian blowout treatment or Olaplex, but I was charged a total of just $220 pre-tip. With my shorter and thinner hair at D Salon, the price tag was $290 pre-tip. It was a bit of a sticker shock, to say the least. Not that I don't think her work is worth it... I was just expecting something closer to $250-$260. Basically, if you do not have the luxury to drive to Westminster to have your hair done (1-2 hours of traffic from Riverside each way), I highly recommend Marienette at D Salon for your ashy balayage ombres and other hair dyeing and styling needs. Olaplex is a must for this type of procedure, which is why the extra $75 feels a bit mandatory. Just be prepared to pay a bit more than you anticipated for having it done in Riverside. My hair is gorgeous though, I cannot stress that enough. There was minimal damage done to it, even though I have naturally dark brown hair and went almost platinum. My ashy blonde gray is still perfect and my hair feels velvety smooth. Marienette is definitely the best in IE! read more
