Uoon driving up, my husband wondered why I had chose this place. We do like to eat at hole - in-the wall places, but he didn't know how I chose this place without being familiar with the area. The building is not the best looking and the inside is very simple. The employee, possible owner/manager could tell we had not been here before. He directed us to the menu taped on the counter. He recommended the Philly Cheese steak, and the Beef/Lamb gyro which we ordered. The pita used for the gyro was moist. Yum!!! Both were delicious! The service was excellent. I used the restroom which was very well cleaned. The price for a fry, and the 2 sandwiches was about $20 which seemed like a good price to us. Great food, great service, what's not to love? This is a mom and pop restaurant that started only being open for a few hours daily to full service hours. The family is just so sweet! The owner an associate pastor for a local church and his wife is just an amazing woman. No, I don't know them personally. He recognizes us because we're semi-regulars and we've chatted while we waited, so that's how I know about them. Their cheesteak sandwiches are amazing and taste like the authentic Philly. I once went to Philadelphia and had the true sandwich and it's all in the bread. That's another post though. Someone once told me that you can always tell a good restaurant when you see a bunch of cops eating there. She was so right! One day we came in and there had to be at least fifteen cops there and the irony is that some were Mobile City police, some were sheriff deputies and whatever else. They all knew each other though. I have absolutely zero complaints. Try their salads or anything. You will be happy. They also will make a special something for you, if you ask. Once I wanted a side salad instead of fries, and he happily made my wish a command. I love that place. read more

From the outside when pulling up, it looks a little sketchy. Walk inside and you will find a small diner feeling room. Spacious booths (coming from someone 6'4"). Now to the food. I had "The Bomb" it is Conecuh sausage topped with Philly meat, onions and bell peppers, it was pretty good. Please hold the ketchup and mustard. Fries were good. The only thing that would have made it better would be for the sausage to be cooked longer. Will be returning several more times to try everything on the menu. read more

As everyone mentions, it's easy to drive past this restaurant. It's next to a pawn shop which has larger signage. Do not let the modest exterior dissuade you. It is clean, friendly, and has great, fresh food. I had the Philly Cheesesteak and my husband had the Italian Sub and we split an order of fries. The bread was soft and fresh and the sandwiches were great. The fries were cooked in sufficiently hot oil so they were crispy outside and fluffy inside. Much better than a chain would have been. Just awful. I've tried so hard to like this place, but it gets worse every time. The philly is dry and unappetizing. Lenny's subs actually makes a better philly and that's not a huge compliment for D'michaels. The sides are just frozen stuff that's been fried, like the French fries. Well this was a terrific sandwich shop. The service was exceptional! We had the Philly cheesesteak with grilled onions, peppers, mushrooms and jalapeños. This was the best cheesesteak I have ever had. We also enjoyed a order of onion rings which were awesome. The food came up quickly which was a great advantage because we were traveling out west. We will definitely go here on our way back and try there other food. The place was busy and all the food looked great. It is a small store front in a small strip shopping plaza. I had this last night for dinner and leftovers today for lunch. Honestly the best Philly cheesesteak I've ever had. I ordered a 12" on white, light peppers and onions and unlike most places they actually know what "light" means. Their sandwiches are juicy but not to the point where the bread gets soggy.
