D'Argenzio Wine Tasting Room is a nice winery in Burbank. My wife and I made a reservation on a Saturday evening for my birthday. From the moment we walked in, the fresh aroma of bread and cheese was amazing. The atmosphere was inviting, light crowd noise from the back with natural wood and exposed brick. We started our wine tastings with the Chardonnay, Rosé, Pinot and Sauvignon Blanc, all house made and all pleasantly tasty. For dinner we ordered the Burrata Crostini and meatball sliders (meat and vegetarian option, both greatt!) there was plenty of free street parking out front. We held our son and his fiancée's rehearsal dinner here and it was wonderful. We were on the patio with trees, vines, sparkle lights and a bocce ball court, it was such a beautiful atmosphere. If you like wine you may enjoy visiting D'Argenzio Enoteca for a tasting. I've been to D'Argenzio Enoteca twice and there will definitely not be a third visit. The first time was for a friend's birthday celebration and she had the place reserved. All of her guests could do a tasting of all the varietals that they offer. I spoke to Richard, who is one of the owners and he was a very nice person. The second time I went to D'Argenzio was last night and they were having a Randy Rhoads Open House/Memorial for Richard's wife's brother Randy who died in a plane crash in 1982. I used to see Randy Rhoads play with Quiet Riot in the late 70's around L.A. before they got their first record deal and he was very talented. I honestly didn't really like Kevin Dubrow and their music, but I loved watching Randy play his guitar. Last night they only offered two wines for sale and they were both horrible. The Pinot was overly bitter and Jennifer gave us a sample from the last drops of a bottle that was open for who knows how long. The next wine we sampled was the Randy Rhoads Cabernet. The small tasting pour was again from the bottom of another bottle once again. It was better than the Pinot, but definitely not worth $10 and change for a tiny glass. We walked over to the back room with our glasses and stood by one of the bar tables since there were no seats to sit down, except one bench by the westward facing wall. We tried another table and it was also wobbly. We watched a few videos that they had of Randy playing with Ozzy Osbourne. We finished our glasses of the Randy Rhoads Cabernet Sauvignon while a teenager played some songs on his electric guitar. He was a great guitar player. We left shortly thereafter and probably will not be back. read more

I went to their Special Gathering yesterday where they had free wine tasting and market pop up shop. The place was quite busy that day probably due to the special event. I went inside and browse through some leaflets but nobody approached nor greeted me. I went to the different areas of the store but I didn't see any staff except for the guy doing the wine tasting. I even sat for awhile in the patio but no one approached me. Finally, I saw a waitress serving pizza to the ladies seated in a table next to me but the waitress didn't even bother to say hi nor ask if I need anything. I went over to the market pop shop and hop from one table to another. They are actually small businesses selling crafts, nick-knacks, clothes, accessories, soaps, candles, etc. The atmosphere is very festive. I saw people enjoying their wine and pizza. The company has a lot of potential to grow but I think they are obviously understaffed for the said event. It makes me sad that they were successful in organizing this event but didn't have enough people to show what the store has to offer. I will try coming in on a less busy day so I can learn more about this store. I am pretty sure that my next visit will be a more pleasant experience. read more

So Thursdays mean I get to enjoy live music, a variety of fine wines, and yummy food all in the same place? Count my interest piqued! I came here to see Jamie and The Silver Dollars perform and had a blast. The staff members, including the owner, are welcoming and will make you feel at home. There's no snooty feeling anywhere here. It's more of a hometown kind of vibe with l good natured folks and a high energy level. Deciding what to order can be a bit of an exercise in "dilemma of choice" but they gladly helped me out with samples and pairing advice. The wines were only $10 a glass and perfectly strong. I started with the Syrah, I believe. It was rich-bodied, delectable, and shot me to the moon rather quickly. The pizza was delicious as well. I heard various people around me raving about it at one point or another, so I know it wasn't just me! Highly recommend the Limoncello dessert. Doesn't contain real limoncello but it tastes like heaven. Smooth, creamy, tart, sweet, and just the right amounts of all of those things. It was my favorite edible thing I tried and was only about $6. Seating was packed and cozy on a Thursday and there were a lot of reserved tables. What a gem! This is a small but charming space with wonderful wine and food! The wine is on the drier side, which I prefer. Unlike other wine bars, the tastings here are very affordable, as is the food. $12 gets you a large pizza, perfect for sharing in between glasses of wine. (I highly recommend the pesto.) For $10, you get a flight of 5 wines that are poured very generously around 1 oz each. Some of the wine, like the pinot noir, which I loved, is $49 a bottle, so this makes the flight a very good deal. The service was great!! Our server was lovely! I'll definitely be back. read more

This was probably one of my first actual wine tasting experiences and let me tell you I loved the food and really enjoyed the wine. They only had 4 options of wine at the time, but they were all very different and I enjoyed them all. I love wine but I do have standards and lets just say we ended up ordering 2 bottles after we tested all of them! Jennifer was there to guide us through. She was friendly and attentive! One thing to note is their salad is incredible, one of the best I've had. They accommodated us with 2 different pizza sauces half and half on a pizza. I recommend trying either the pesto or margherita pizza or both! They are well yummmm. We had the creme brulee for dessert which was very solid. I really enjoyed the wine but I was really surprised on the food. They must have a great chef! A few cons are 1: I do wish they had more wine in their selection that night. 2: it can get a bit pricy but compared to most wine tasting rooms I looked up this place was more affordable than most and the food was very fairly priced. I can't believe I hadn't reviewed this place since I go there every week. First time: I brought my BF (along with my sister and another friend) there for a wine tasting for his birthday a year and a half ago. We had such a great time. We sat in the front at the bar. My Boy was extremely excited to find out that Randy Rhoads' sister was married to the owner of D'Argenzio and they have a limited edition wine in honor of him. We got to try maybe 6 different boutique wines from Sonoma County and had a yummy cheese plate while chatting with the lovely Anabel, the Sommelier. Second time: My boy and I brought two out of town guests there for a barrel tasting. We sat in the back in the lovely ambiance. Non of us had ever done a barrel tasting before and it was pretty awesome. Anabel mentioned that D'Argenzio was starting Wine Down Thursdays which offer happy hour glasses of wine, live music and food trucks. Third time and beyond: The boy and I head over to D'Argenzio Winery Enoteca almost every Thursday night for wine, food trucks, live music and familiar faces. Everyone greets us like we're family and out here, that can be hard to come by. Kathy and Richard (the owners) always welcome us with open arms. We've attended some of their other events too such as cupcake and wine pairings, Animal Sanctuary benefit and fundraiser, Valentine's Day events, Birthday Party's, Barrel tastings, etc... A few tips for readers and newcomers: Parking: There is plenty of street parking and there is a free lot in the back (turn right into the little alleyway before the enoteca) Scheduled Food trucks and events can usually be found on their Facebook page. I like when they have more than one food truck at a time so you have more choices but they almost always have really good trucks. They only carry D'Argenzio wines. This is a boutique winery. Bring cash for the trucks (just in case) Be sure to tip you bar tenders. Oh and I don't think their credit card machine allows you to add tip so bring a few bucks with you. Great find! My friend told me to meet him here before going to dinner in Burbank and it turned out to be the highlight of the night. My friend got stuck in traffic and was late and they were so friendly to me, even though I was there on my own and they had groups to attend to. It was a very inexpensive tasting, yet a nice variety of wines to try, and some unexpected little snacks paired perfectly with the wines. My friend came late and had to rush through his tastes and they gave us a Complementary Tasting card to return another time. Can't wait to go back! Service, ambiance, hospitality, and value were all right on the mark! PS Visited again and brought the parents. Another fabulous tasting and we left with three bottles of wine. I had an absolutely amazing experience at this winery! The owner was around and was so sweet to us and extremely attentive which made it all that much better. They're a family-run winery through generations from Italy and have photos on the walls to showcase the earlier years. I loved learning about the history of the place from those photos and the owner himself. Their wine was delicious, we got to taste them all and then got a glass each. The food was amazing in a home-made kind of way, but TOP NOTCH home-made and definitely better than anything I could make. We enjoyed it so much, we ended up getting a dessert, and then another dessert! Oops. Sugar overload. The interior is adorable, homey, and they had live music playing. We came here for paintnite and had a great time! We immediately were welcomed by the owner and his friends which made our night enjoyable right from the start. The pizza was delicious and the Syrah was our favorite of the three tastings that we tried. We'll be back for music night on Thursdays and to try The Randy Rhoads Cabernet! Recommendations: Paintnite goes by quickly once you start and so I would recommend going early and eating before you go into the back room to paint. I must be straight forward and totally honest, the wines I tasted (whites: Chardonnay, Savignon Blanc, Tocai / rose of Pino Gris, and reds: Pinot Noir, Negroamaro) were very rough and need some work, everything tasted the same and lacked body. They gave me goosebumps, but they kind of goosebumps when your body send you a "not good/danger" alert! Wine types can be all over the place, from easy/peacy to drink to complex "wait 15 years" to drink, but the wines I tasted here tasted exactly the same, high in acidity, and basically kind of sugary/weird/off grape juice! If the the idea is to make Italian style wines (being this an Italian winery) where wines tend to be high acidity (especially reds) and neutral wood use to preserve the beauty of the grape (most use Slavonian Oak barrels), then I strongly suggest to get with your winemaker and make some changes. Also, this place red wines seemed in the high sugar = high alcohol, but way unbalanced and rough! don't get me wrong, Paso Robles tend to be high sugar/high alcohol but the art is to know how to balance the wine so you don't get high in sugar rush in one sip. My partner and I spoke with the owner for a bit and although he seemed nice (but at times a bit odd and mostly asking us to order food) he seemed somewhat clueless when it came to wine. For example, presenting the Negroamaro as a Chianti (Chianti is Sangiovese a total different grape), saying that Burgundy is a sweet wine (we explained is a region known for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay), and talking about grape varietals in a scattered way. Anyways, I'm sure I'm sounding like a snob jerk, but I love wine and I'm critical of it, so my 2 stars is for the hard work and effort to make wine (it's admirable!) but I really cannot tell you it was good wine. read more

This is probably the best kept secret in wine tasting in LA. I was privileged to meet the wine maker Ray who is mostly upstate at their winery. Their Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are amazing. Very complex flavors and truly a home like feeling when you visit their tasting room. They've only got a few, but their latest selection is amaze-balls. Definitely more into the reds than whites, so armed with that knowledge, you'll know what you're in for. It gets nuts thanks to the live music - classic rock and oldies - and the food trucks are usually the creme de la creme, so it's great when you're looking to chill with the cool cats and try some excellent spirits and food. I had the pleasant experience of dining with some friends while attending the "Paint Nite" event being hosted here. I've live in the valley for over 20 years and have passed by this very streets thousands of times, but never really realized this was a restaurant/wine tasting place. It's a very small and humble restaurant. The storefront has a few tables and a small bar to sit and drink. They have a menu with some small finger foods that pair well with their different wines. The owner was super friendly and gave us the background of the different wines they were offering for the wine tasting. Each had its own personality. It was great! After our tasting we proceeded to the back room where the painting would commence. Overall the experience was wonderful. We had a fun night. Everything was reasonably priced. I had seen this place driving by 100 or so times before we ventured in. I'm not aware of any other tasting rooms in town, so the idea of having one in our sleepy little town is pretty cool. Located right across the street from our beloved Granada's, puts a cherry on top, right man? We came in on a weekend early afternoon and we were the only ones there. Ungh. Damn. Wines were just not good. The girl pouring was nice, but in addition to the meh wines, it seemed like they just didn't know about regular tasting room protocol/procedures. The red wines were all chilly and it tasted like they had been open for at least a day and a half. Not a good practice when trying to get the best out of your wines. When we do a tasting, more often than not we'll buy a bottle of the wine we liked the most. Sometimes we make the purchase more out of courtesy than necessity. So we bought a bottle of the Chardonnay and kept in the wine cellar for a couple of months. When we finally opened it when we had guests, no one really liked it and the bottle didn't get finished which is damn near unheard of at el casa del Paradiso. What a shame. It's a cute place and we will probably end up going back for the novelty of having a tasting room so close to home, but it will be little more than that. read more

This place is exceedingly cute, and the staff friendly, but the wine wasn't good. To be fair, I only tasted the 3 they had out so they might have other, better, options, but when I say it wasn't good, I mean I hated each one, and I am not a picky wine drinker. I went on a Thursday for happy hour. The tasting is free, which is nice, you then pick your favorite and get a glass for $5. This would be a pretty good deal, but it was hard for me to tell which one I disliked the least, plus the music in the back room was too loud to sit and have a conversation. My entire goal was to find a place to sit with my friend after work, have a couple nice glasses of wine, chat and unwind. This place does not fit that bill. My friend and I went on a Thursday evening at about 8:30. On Thursdays there is live music and a food truck. We sat at the bar, ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc to share (after being offered several wines to taste). We brought in food from the food truck to share at the bar while we enjoyed our wine. They also have their own small food menu, which looked good. The service during our entire night was excellent. Everyone we encountered was friendly and clearly wanted us to be happy with our experience. I went to D'Argenzio for a private special holiday wine tasting party, We were served a variety of wine tastings. I liked the reds the best, and would choose them over the whites. The large party took over the back room. We were served cheese, meatballs, veggies and dip. The area in the back is perfect for a large group party with a large wooden table. My son and I made it back from the SF Bay Area to the wonderful D'Argenzio Enoteca in December. There was a special 3 night event/Open House for the Randy Rhoads' Birthday Celebration so we were honored to be able to attend. Kathy and Richard, and their lovely family and staff are the most gracious hosts. We felt right at home, as we did during our first visit over the summer. I've not a wine connoisseur in any way but I do enjoy the Randy Rhoads cabernet. Wished I could have imbibed more but I was driving. It's very tasty and smooth. There were food trucks present every night as it was a special event. We ate from one of them one night and it was delicious. The other two nights, we had the homemade flat bread pizzas that the kitchen staff made which were not only very yummy but perfect for the wine and the evening. They were also serving beer and soda and had complimentary cold water for the non-wine drinkers like my son. But the very best thing is the about D'Argenzio Enoteca is the ambiance, atmosphere and spirit. The staff and the other clientele feel like long lost friends. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. It's like being in someone's living room, a very personal experience. Richard and Kathy, as busy as they were during a very hectic event, always took time to check on us and others, making sure we were having a good time and had everything we needed. We were celebrating the life of Kathy's brother, Randy, an amazing guitarist, who tragically passed in 1982 which was very special and humbling in and of itself but the night took on a very magical energy. I don't mean to sound cliche but you could really feel the love in the room. And yes, this was a special weekend dedicated to Randy but our first took place just on a regular wine-down Thursday. We felt just as good being there on a "normal" night. If I lived in the area, I would be there frequently with girlfriends or family, just for a nice, chill night out with a glass of wine, some cheese and crackers, good conversation, and some great live music. The Randy Rhoads events are amazing and we will be back for sure, but I would highly suggest giving D'Argenzio Enoteca a try anytime. read more
