J&R Auto Repair - Snap shot of the instructional video from Land Rover John and his team watched to fix my Freelander. They survived it and so did my my car!

J&R Auto Repair

This place is off the charts amazing! We use to use the Honda service dealer for our oil changes…read moreand other routine maintenance but after discovering J&R, we've never gone back. The Knowledge and service we receive goes above and beyond expectations. Recently my wife washed our key fob through the laundry destroying the circuit board in the fob making the minivan go crazy beeping, not starting, doors opening, etc. They ordered and reprogrammed the key for our van. We had a flat tire on our car and instead of ordering all new tires they actually repaired the damaged tire at a fraction of the cost. I had a complete overhaul of my 2009 Toyota Venza done by them two years ago because it was stalling out and bad things were starting to happen. I was kind of nervous to have all that work done because the car is up there in miles at 150k+. The Venza has run like a top ever since and I think about all the money they saved me as a result. The car still runs great and I've had to just do basic maintenance ever since. I don't usually write many reviews but these guys definitely deserve it. Overall if you take your car, truck or van there, you'll thank me. The place is clean, the owner John is super friendly, they know what they're talking about and not once have I ever felt like they tried to sell me on something I didn't need, which has not been my experience at many of the other shops. Place is a hidden gem in North Chelmsford.

Not all that impressed. Maybe you'll do better at this shop with a racecar. If you've got an old…read morebeater, go somewhere else. I came to the shop for alignment, an exhaust quote, and maybe smoothing the front rotors. Came out with half an alignment, an exhaust quote, new brake fluid, and other brake work to save up for. The Good: Very friendly, approachable sales and mechanical staff. Lots of show cars and happy customers on display. Reasonable with cost of work and parts. Called me back like they said they would. Clean shop, looks comforting. They did find a brake fluid leak I missed, and didn't give me a hard time about doing that work myself. The Meh: I paid for 4w alignment only to find they just adjusted the front/rear toe. No other shop had trouble with front camber, but this one said it "can't be adjusted on this car". No call to say that, and evasive about whether they tried and lost to rust -- or if they just didn't know it was adjustable. But that's what I paid them for... I guess they also inspected my air filter, because I found it wasn't closed all the way. A sudden extra roaring sound when I left should have been hard to miss. Verdict: My car is 18 years old, and though it looks its age I love it. But I hoped for more than I got from this shop.

Chelmsford Diagnostic Service

Chelmsford Diagnostic correctly diagnosed the problem and fixed it saving me literally thousands of dollars. Over the years after that they've found poorly done work on item after item and they've gotten the job done right. One of the biggest was that they fixed a chronic oil leak at an affordable price; the other guys had priced so high that it was completely unaffordable. One of my cars is older and they've helped me make the best "fix it right or patch it for the remaining life of the car" decisions, and safety versus comfort trade-offs. There are shops that will try to upsell you on work you don't need, shops that don't know what they're doing, and shops that are dishonest. This is none of those. Bill is a little gruff but the customer service is exceptional where it counts: Value and honesty for your dollar. We bring our Camry, Altima, and Sienna here.

They got me in without an appointment, did a very very thorough examination, charged me for an hour of labor but spent much more time on it. They took the time to show me the concerns and i learned a bit more "car talk" that day. I also learned what to look for in a new-used car & what service to prioritize once i buy. (Flush all fluids) They ultimately saved me $5k. There was $3k of work needing to be done. I dont live locally, but if i did, Chelmsford diagnostics would definitely be my neighborhood shop!!

Joe's Auto & Towing

Just had a tow from Joes booked through my roadside assistance company. Driver was super friendly…read moreand helpful. I wasn't with my car and figured everything was set after speaking to him but he went the extra mile to send me a pic of my car at the repair shop after he dropped it off. Really nice to have such kind and thoughtful service.

A belated but pertinent and VERY positive review, and shout out, to Joe's Auto & (more…read morespecifically) Towing, to both the woman who answered my emergency call and to Andrew, the fella who saved the day, and evening, for me. On 11/7/20, I played 18 up at Butter Brook Golf Course in Carlisle. After finishing, I spent a few minutes talking to my Lexington-bound before he hit the road. It was near sunset at that point. As I walked toward my car a departing female employee walking toward hers asked if I owned the white 1998 Volvo up ahead. At that point, there were only three other cars in the lot--hers, another, and my Volvo. I nodded, and she said, "You're tire exploded!" I'm, like, huh? But, as I get nearer to my car, there it is--a flat right front tire. "Yeah," she added. "It just popped! We all heard it." Knowing I had a fully-inflated spare in the trunk, I told her I'd be on the road in less than five minutes. By the time she pulls out, I'm the only one left in the lot. I instantly discover that the single-socket 12" long lug nut wrench supplied by Volvo was ridiculously ineffective and despite heroic efforts I couldn't budge one wheel stud. Not. One. I had no leverage. I tried so hard I bent the damn wrench handle! So then I'm thinking, because I DO live in Dorchester and I DON'T know ANYONE in the Carlisle area, I'm...dead in the water. I make two quick phone calls to the nearest auto repair places, one has no tow truck, the other cannot help--no driver that day. I expand my search and dial up Joe's. A very pleasant and busy but patient woman answers and advises that their one tow person has "like ten calls going right now." I provide my phone #, my location and add that all I need is a one-minute pit stop: loosen five lug nuts. The woman says, "I'll see what I can do." Two minutes later my cell phone rings and it's Joe's tow truck driver, Andrew, an amiable kid who listens to my quick story and decides, on the spot, while driving to his next destination, "I'll be there in ten, you're in between where I am now and my next stop." Ten minutes later, Andrew wheels into BB-GC's parking lot just as the sun begins to set. Knowing what's needed, he hops out of tow truck, grabs the pneumatic air pump, and hits the studs. Then he wheels over a portable hydraulic lift, jacks me up and leaves me to handle putting on the spare while he writes up the bill. He replaces his pump and jack, hands me the receipt, agrees that Volvo's worthless lug nut wrench might come in handy as a paperweight, accepts my $20 tip, and zips out of the lot toward his next emergency. 1. The woman could've told me, "We're too busy." And hung up. 2. Andrew could've just blown me off, and never called. Both refreshed my belief in and of "paying it forward." My Dad was a mechanic. He taught me how to do the simple repairs that keep cars on the road. Over the years, I've probably pulled off road and helped at least a dozen or so people who were stranded on roadsides, either changing their flats or giving them a jump or, at the very least, getting them to where they were going to be okay. What comes around, goes around, folks. Do the right thing. It'll come back to you, and it'll go forward. My thanks to Andrew, and the kind woman who answered my call. It is no surprise that the majority of Joe's reviews are positive. Happy Holidays!!!

I don't know cars in the least, but thankfully my fiancée does. With this being a foreign car, and such a big job, the boyfriend was way out of his element. I was so sure my beloved Jetta was heading to the junkyard. We decided to make one last ditch effort and have Reggie look at it. Firstly, I have never been made to feel so as ease with a mechanic. He spent a lot of time going over my issues with me, and explained that if he were to take the job, he would want to make sure EVERYTHING causing issues would be fixed, so I wouldn't be dropping a huge sum of money only to be back in a month with another issue. He was honest and straight up. He made sure I understood everything that was going on, every step of the way. It was honestly the first time where I never once worried that I was being overcharged or taken advantage of. It was a huge job, and he did great with it. Worth every penny to me to keep my baby. She runs like a dream. I will never go to another mechanic again, Reggie is the only guy I will ever use for my Jetta. Even my boyfriend will be bringing his domestic truck there for any jobs he is not able to do himself. Thank you, Reggie!
