Buyer beware! You should not buy any Used car from Elias without having a competent mechanic check out the car. I did and my mechanic found a laundry list of issues. In total over $1800 worth of repairs. It was questionable if it would pass inspection. The issues should have been very easy for an experienced mechanic to see and correct. When I confronted Elias with the facts he was nice but did get a bit defensive as I asked why there were all these issues that were not addressed. And I paid $100 to my great mechanic to find this out. I think Elias is in way over his head. Very nice but per another review I just read --he's inexperienced. Or so I hope...I don't know if he is actively trying to cheat people or not but his solution to me when I asked for $1500 off his used Car price was..."lets split the difference". I knew right then I was done. I've gone to a dealership for my used car! Please seriously get a used car checked out by a reputable mechanic before you drive anything off his lot. Oh and I asked-- there is NO warranty! If I had foolishly paid what he asked I would have ended up with $1800 in quickly needed repairs! Buyer beware!!!! Caveat emptor! read more

It is very unfortunate that we have to usher in another incompetent mechanic in the city. This auto shop has some very serious issues: 1. The mechanic is NOT experienced. It is one thing when mechanic is experienced and rip off people, but this shop is disturbing because the mechanic is too inexperienced and he is already fully engaged in ripping off people. 2. The mechanic is deplorably inexperienced, and his hourly rate is well overrated. He is interested in filling up the hours, instead finding and fixing mechanical problmes of car has been brought. 3. He tries to satisfy customer falsely instead of putting the safety first. i.e. Charging money alot to customers is is primary interests instead of putting time and efforts fixing car right, which would lead to potential problems. I would not recommend anyone to have his/her car fixed here because the ramification of fixing car here would lead to bigger problems potentially. I have seen too many incompetent mechanics working along the route 27 and Old Connecticut Path, and this shop is surely goes on top of the town's lousy mechanic shops list. read more

Wally's charged me $140 to swap 4 snow tires on separate wheels - just had to lift car, unbolt snows, & bolt on all-season tires on rims in the car. Posted labor rate of $95/hr - charged almost an hour and a half of labor for a 15 minute job!!! read more

I have nothing but good things to say about Wally and Son Auto. Be honest, be fair and be skilled at what you do. Don't overcharge me and don't sell me on something i don't need right now. Even when I've needed to rent a truck or van. The service has been very good and Elias has done a great job. I've gotten new brakes and wheel bearings here, price is reasonable and they do quick work. I had to drive a long distance on a Saturday afternoon and he got the brakes done quick enough for me to make it. I then had a squealing noise after they replaced the bearings so I took it back the next day and they fixed it no questions asked. read more

I have had a few experiences with this business - all of them positive! Bought a used car for my daughter and Eli was willing to work with me on terms. The info on the car was accurate and the price was fair. 8 months later, this purchase has been a great success! I recently had my older Jeep looked at while trying to decide whether to keep it or not. Eli was great about keeping me informed about what he found and the costs of the various options. Now looking at buying another used car from him and I'm not considering anywhere else. Eli is a good listener who pays attention to what you want without having his own agenda. Actually followed Eli from his previous employer to his new location. My wife and I have had both of our cars, an Audi and a Chevy, serviced multiple times over the span of several years. Eli makes an effort to accommodate timeframe, budget and is always willing and eager to explain and show me up close why something needs to be replaced or repaired. I have never had to return a vehicle because something Eli worked on failed and if I did, I'm confident he would be fair about consequences. Over the years, he has been generous with small things like replacing a light bulb I could not access, checking over a used car my daughter was considering buying, giving me a lift after dropping my car off - demonstrating he cares about customers vs. trying to squeeze us by nickel and diming for every little last thing. Bottom line, Eli runs a fair, honest and (relatively) new business, he has a sense of humor and knows my name when I call or walk through the door, which I don't consider the most important factor in deciding where to bring my car, but it's a nice touch in today's world! read more
