This is not the usual production line optician - these people really care about their clients and make sure you get the right product for you. Disabled access is great and prices are reasonable read more

Popped into this store to ask a question about an eye issue, ended up missing out the doctors…read moreappointment & was given the minor eye condition service almost immediately. The staff in this store are unbelievably efficient from front desk to the optician. A certainly well deserved 5 stars from walking into the door to leaving. This store is the only one in the Bishop Auckland area to offer this service, nearest other is Durham or Darlington.

She has always been ever so good at putting my children at ease when waiting in the waiting area. There is a good range of glasses - although I accept not the range you may find in a large optical superstore in a large shopping centre. However the range is very fair and appears to include lots of modern styles. The same can be said for thier range fo contact lenses. Obviously they don't hold the range of the optical superstores but they do have a good range including coloured lenses, dily and monthly lenses. Service we have received from the opticians themselves has always been first class. Again I must say that in realtion to my children they are second to none. I always worry when taking young children for this kind of eaxmination in case they can see but for whatever reason actually say the wrong thing. Alst time I went I ended up with the impression that in addition to being an optician he was also a child psychologist as he was able to tell when my child had just had enough and had started saying anything because she was bored. Thankfully he didn't write out a prescription for glasses, instead he tried different testing techniques until he had the true picture. Very understanding, approachable and knowledgable. I would certainly recommend them!

They provide all the modern tests and equipment combined with old-fashioned service. Although I did not need to buy any glasses, I noticed that the prices were very competitive. One possible problem is the parking. You might be lucky and find a space on the road outside the premises, or failing that there is an off-street car park a little further down the road. However, if walking is a problem, their premises at Newton Hall is in a small shopping mall with its own parking area. I would thoroughly recommend this optician.

Told the optromitist that vision express left me without sight glasses for 5 months the optromitist said that's a total disgrace. Now having to see low vision assessment team at Sunderland eye infirmary. As informed by the optromitist in Sunderland eye infirmary I have cataracts that's not treatable. Went to an independent optician and told going blind in both eyes. Bad Ryde staff and maner on phone at vision express. Lab does lenses wrong and all the staff back them up. Cheap glasses that are not to fit your face. Lost out in a holiday with my partner if £2000 because of vision express mucking me around.

I often received mailings from them which have offered a completely free eye test, and I usually take up this offer! The staff are friendly and very professional and are not pushy about selling their products like some high street opticians, even if you are only taking advantage of the free eye test promotion! I always find that the waiting time is also a lot shorter than in other opticians - you get seen more or less straight away, even at peaktime (i.e. weekends). Their frames are generally good quality and they have a lot of designer ones too. The prices reflect the quality really - I am a strong believer that you get what you pay for!
