I always find that the waiting time is also a lot shorter than in other opticians - you get seen more or less straight away, even at peaktime (i.e. weekends). Their frames are generally good quality and they have a lot of designer ones too. The prices reflect the quality really - I am a strong believer that you get what you pay for!

A first class job has been done by the jeweller. I am absolutely delighted. I went back to The Watch and Clock Hospital as Paul had repaired my Victorian fob watch. He patiently tried to purchase a matching glass face which was broken, and repaired the hands. I decided to have a better clasp fitted to the chain, which the jeweller replaced for me. Again a first class job was done. I would highly recommend this shop for watch and jewellery repairs. The staff are lovely, very knowledgeable, and there is no pressure whatsoever.

A friendly welcome on a cold afternoon was nice and the service matched that from start to finish. from the assistant who gave me honest opinion of frames I tried on to the optimistist who conducted my very thorough eye test. The store had recently been refurbished but was damaged by a fire in the hotel above it so is currently closed. I do hope they reopen it as the servie they provide (somewhere between high street chain and local optician) is hard to beat.

The store in Kendal is bright and modern with lots of special equipment for performing the all-important eye tests as well as qualified optometrists who can examine you thoroughly and check that you're wearing the right lenses. I've been very pleased with them so far. One advantage of Specsavers is that, although they encourage you to join one of their schemes (and that could be a better deal in some cases) you are free to buy contact lenses from their website once you have your prescription. That suits me as the prices are extremely reasonable, plus you can order exactly the quantity you need (or can afford in my case).
