Absolutely crap left me for 5 months without glasses. As got the lens in right eye to strong done wrong. Making excuses on phone and lab doing lenses wrong. Ended up in Sunderland eye infirmary and because of vision express. I'm know going blind and going to see low vision assessment team up Sunderland eye infirmary. To get aids to help me walk around. I had a eye examination up the Sunderland eye infirmary, but not good. As the optromitist told me right lens to strong. Told the optromitist that vision express left me 5 months without sight glasses and the optromitist said that's not good. Bad attitude and managers from all staff on phone. So all I can say is your choice. I went to specialist opticians in sea road and they are very good. Called Buckingham and Hicksons. Very good optromitist Mr Hickson does very through eye examination and helpful lady who helps you out with frames. read more

Vision Express is based in King St in south shields and has been in the town centre for a while now, it recently moved from the bottom of King St to the top of King St close to Woolworths. The branch is small compared to the other branches it has in the north east, they offer eye tests both private and to NHS patients. The range of glasses they have in are ok but the prices of the lenses and frames for decent type of frame is far to expensive in my view. The price you pay for one pair of glasses from there you can get 2 pairs of the same lenses and similar frames from elsewhere. Again the staff try the hard sale push on you and try not to give you your prescription if u need glasses stopping u from going elsewhere to get them. read more

I often use these as a guide to where I buy stuff and when my spex broke and my own optician wouldn't fit me in I was worried about my visit here . Things seem to have changed since the last review . They squeezed me in for my test , took a photo of my eyes to show they are healthy then made me some spex for only £ 29 and they were ready in an hour . This allowed me to carry on working/ driving which was a big help to me . I'll definitely be going back when I get paid to get some designer spex .
