Here, almost downtown you can enjoy wine produced just few steps from where you are sitting. They are open Fridays and Saturdays afternoon, winemakers themselves (who rent vineyard from the city) will serve you. They speak some English so they can give you even a good explanation how they make wine. Water is free, they have some crackers but the main item to sell is of course wine. Wine - of course it cannot compete with great French and Italian wine, but if you compare it with Moravian, you can easily go and start drink wine from Prague. They sell dornfelder (heavy red wine), muller thurgau (white, typical for Central Europe), hibernal (white) and Pinot noir. Last but not least - from the vineyard you have a wonderful view all over southern Prague. The only problem for tourists (but for many locals as well :) is to find the place.

While enjoying our beer we kept seeing dish after mouth watering dish stroll passed us. We finally both looked at each other and said, "Yeah, we're coming back for dinner!" I wish we could go back, too bad we are 4,277 miles away!!

The moment you step inside, you are hit with the smell of hops and the striking visual of an all-wood interior, high ceilings, and some tiered seating options. Despite its grandeur, it's rather casual, at least in the brewery (pivovar) half at the front of the house. A peek into the back half, presumably the "restaurant" half, seemed like a lovely banquet-esque affair. We stuck with the pivovar and, casual label be damned, it was still a rather impressive ordeal. I ordered the 1/2 Roast Duck, served with dumplings and braised red cabbage, which (following a theme here) was huge. More importantly, it was excellent, really tender and juicy, and just a touch on the salty side. But hey, I like salty, and I love duck, so I'm calling it - one of the best meals I had in Prague. Their home-brewed beer Přístavní výčepní 10% was also delicious, a traditional Czech pilsner category-wise, but also a nice break from the Urquells and Gambrinuses that run the rest of the town. I'm no beer connoisseur, but it's light, golden, grassy composition was perfectly balanced against my heavy duck entree. Add to that the friendliest service this American received during his entire stay in Prague, and this nautical brewhouse is a must for any fan of gastropubs, great local beer, and/or manly eats in general. Na zdraví!

This place is rather hidden and usually people from the neighborhood come here. I have come here a couple of times, however, I have never been really satisfied. I still do not know what to think of the place. The staff is not very attentive, rather slow and the food is really poor. The ambiance is not bad but also not that awesome. I would say that the biggest issue of this place is the unfriendly, bored staff that spoils the atmosphere. When you combine this with the not so good food, the beautiful romantic setting by the river and quite nice interior make it 3-star even though the potential of this place is much bigger. As to the question whether to visit or not - if its close from you, give it a try. Should you be coming here from further away, maybe better give it a pass....

Also, and I agree, the menu is small. However, for me, this spot gets 4 stars. I've wanted to try it for 6 years, and though I would prefer if it was more central to Prague, it really isn't so bad to get to once you know which tram to take, or which line to use (and don't mind walking a smidgen). The vineyard is a working vineyard which means you might as well just get a small carafe of the house wine. (White or red - both are decent, though I preferred the white.) As we'd already eaten lunch, we weren't at all hungry when we ventured here. However, I had to get *something* so I opted for the Czech cheese board. My husband and I both found cheeses we liked, so it turned out to be a fine decision. I'd love to try the Italian meat and cheese board if I make my way back on another visit. We lucked out as the weather was cold and humid, so it wasn't crowded at all. Also lucky for us, a very kind and enigmatic young Czech guy was able to speak with us in English, and even set us up in the huge grey room with enormous windows. For quite a while we had this room, and its fantastic view, all to ourselves, only sharing it later with a couple of older Czech women who seemed just as pleased as we were. From a wine gazebo with, at least for us, very friendly service, decent wine, and cheese and meat boards - I don't see what more you could truly want. Maybe we were lucky, maybe we're just Americans, but we loved passing part of our afternoon here and I would recommend it to anyone who feels like venturing out to Praha 10.
