I was blown away by the selection of Czech beers and beers from all over Europe. This is a downstairs cozy bar. Lots of small tables - great place for a date or casual hangout. The wifi was good too so I could even work from here :) I sat at the bar and chatted with the bartenders about the beer selections and tried a few Czech beers and couple from around Europe (I can never pass up Cantillon). My Faaaaaaavorite stop for craft beer in one of the beer capitals of Europe......actually of the world! The Czechs are known for their quality, good-bodied beer. But as good as it is, it's for a simple palette. In most restaurants, your options are Pilsner and Lager......or Lager and Pilsner. That's really it. And while you grow to enjoy it because of the active drinking culture, and the ease and frequency of just commonly grabbing a beer, those simple flavors make for quick decision making and fit any occasion. BUT, there are times you want to explore, and with my frisky American Craft Beer palette, I like tasting a range of flavor and experiencing the spectrum of beer color. And when in Europe, you need to taste more than just Czech beer, and that's what Beer Geek can offer! There are brews from Belgium, England, Germany and more, while still staying true to their roots by having majority Czech options, but ones that deviate from the normal Pilsners and Lagers. I've come here now with two different perspectives: One as a resident of Prague working on a Czech salary, and Two (me now) as a visitor to Prague with vacation money ready to spend. As a resident, Beer Geek is "high end" and "expensive". A good Czech beer should only run you $1.25 - $2.50, and if you're spending $3, you got ripped off. But at Beer Geek, you'll spend $3.50 for your cheapest beer, and maybe up to $4.50 tops. Expensive for Czech standards, but can you see how the perspective changes when you come as a visitor?? My most expensive, high quality, European craft beer is $4.50?! WHAT?! Sign me up! This place is just great though. Over 25 international beers on tap, you can do a pint, you can do a flight, you can grab food, you can drink at the bar or by your table. It's an at-home brewery vibe placed in the heart of Prague! The best beer I tasted here was the "Almond + Chocolate + Coffee Stout" which was a collaboration by British breweries North Brewing Co and Left Hand Giant Brewing. Absolutely one of the top 3 stouts I've tasted anywhere. My big mistake was not taking some cans to go! read more

BeerGeek Bar does craft beer VERY well. They offer a wide range of styles within their draft list, as well as plenty of bottles to purchase. Their bottle shop down the road is awesome and has been my craft purchase lifeline while in Prague. The bar is comfy and warm. The seats are cushioned. The decor is awesome. Even when it's busy, it's never obnoxiously loud. I've been several times in the past couple months and I'd say I'm absolutely a fan. They even decorated the bar and dressed up for Halloween. How fun! BUT. I can't give five stars right now. No matter the day or time, I find it very hard to get served here. For example, I sat at the bar the other night and it was fairly dead at first. No matter, the bartender insisted on chatting with other folks rather than acknowledging me. It happens often....to the point that I'll generally just order two beers at a time because it's less of a hassle. When my friends arrived later on, they noted the same issue. One time I had an empty glass and he was standing directly in front of me but still wouldn't look at me. I know customer service doesn't have the best reputation in Prague but geez, that's excessive. I often find myself resorting to waving my hands to get their attentions, which just makes me feel like a huge jerk. So yes, I enjoy this place and their offerings (the quesadillas are delicious too!), but I wish they offered a self-service option! read more

Don't go to this place for cappuccino or wine, please. Because they don't have any. For the time being, please don't go to this place for food. Because they don't have any (yet). If you fancy a beer - this might be the best place in the world for you, however. Don't even bother choosing one of the up to 30 beers they've got on tap all by yourself, though. Just let one of the extremely competent waiters do the work for you. Seriously: Even if you don't like beer, these people might just find the beer/cider you'll fall in love with. It's still pretty new, so the vibe is kind of sterile and odd, somehow...but it doesn't really matter since the staff is so damn friendly and their products are just sooo good in terms of quality & quantity! There are few places in the world that bring a tear to my eye. This place is one of them. They have a phenomenal beer list featuring (mostly) central european craft brews, pretty good food, and they people that work there are super friendly. The absolutely best thing was that after every keg was tapped they cleaned the taps. Like, every single time. If you are used to places with great beer culture, this is something you expect, but for those who go to bars where they couldn't care less about the integrity of the beer they serve, this will be a game changer. I visited this place twice while I was in Prague and when I go back, I'll definitely be making a stop. Also, check out their beer store. You can buy some great bottles that make good gifts or souvenirs. And don't forget to take some beer to go if you find one you like at the bar... Beergeek bar has a really great choice of good beers ! A lot of IPA are offered, for example. The general atmosphere is a bit cold, but when I went there, the bar was full and living ! Awesome selection of beers on tap! When we arrived, both my partner and I purchased the Zichovec BA Coconut and Zichovec BA Cocoa Russian Imperial Stout's (which were fantastic). They were a little small and could have been a bit more crispy but a welcome break from eating Eastern Europe food for a week (don't get me wrong, that's been good too!). What a lively place with a great staff ready to answer beer questions. They have 30 beers from around the world on tap. I kept ordering the small beers to leave plenty of room to try an assortment of Czech beers at an average of 30kc, rather agreeable if you ask me. Best craft beer bar in Prague. 32 beers to choose from, usually at least one cask beer available. Staff is beer-knowledgeable and English friendly, which is a plus for me being American. I can always find a selection of IPAs which can be hard find in Prague. The beers are international, not just Czech, although I have found many great Czech brews. The food is perfect bar food, including a selection of chicken wings and other bar snacks. Great place to go with my wife, or a bunch of friends from work. Love this place. read more

They offer a wide (ish) range of styles and breweries, though two of the times we were there, it must have been a tap takover because there were around 10 beers from the same brewery (English Brewery). The beer is extremely overpriced for what you can find elsewhere, and almost everyone in there was american. So if you are looking for a great local spot, look elsewhere, but if you are looking for great beer and a fun, familiar environment, this is your spot! It's the beer, stupid. Why people insist on going to a place called "Beer Geek" and trying to get coffee, or food, or wine, is a mystery to me. This place is ALL about the beer - lots of different kinds. The prices are a bit high, but who cares? The staff is super knowledgeable and happy to chat - about beer. Not about their lives - just beer. If you try to talk to them about anything else, they give you this confused, blinking look. This place is wholly focused on beer - to make it, how to store it, how to pour it, flavour profiles. Some of the clientele, however, need to stop behaving like this is their private clubhouse, and get with the program. Which is wholly, totally and completely focused on beer.
