It's the oldest and most famous brewery in Prague, established in 1499. They are known for their dark beer. The complex of buildings includes, many dining halls, a beer garden, a cabaret theatre. They seat 1200 people! They also have roving musicians, so there's always music in every area. They only have two beers and they walk around with them on trays and just drop em off on your table, they also walk around with trays full of brandy shots. We had one of each beer (even though they kept trying to drop off more) and one of each shot (and yep they kept trying to drop those off too). For dinner we ordered the goulash and Greek salad. The beef in the goulash was tender and the rich gravy it was served in was delicious; it also came with bread dumplings? There were four slices of doughy bread that were great for getting all of the gravy. The beer was good, the food was good.. a bit touristy of course but when in Rome.

Stopped by for lunch as it's the oldest brewery and had a lot of expectation, but it was decent. Order the beer with the beer staff (the ones carrying the drinks) and food is ordered with the other staff members. The beer guy brought dark beers, but I declined and had to wait to order the light beer. They all assume you drink dark and if you don't, you get the funny look. I got the knuckle, but here, the skin was soft and not crispy like other places that I had it. The meat was tender and I enjoyed it at lot, but wasn't fan of the pork skin, but it is what it is. The other food items were decent as well.

Iconic beer garden. Large menu of traditional dishes. Servers stroll the area with trays of shots and beer-light and dark. Communal seating. Ambiance outdoor setting indoors.

It's a historical place. It's pretty big with a couple of dining room. There is a long shared table in one of main dining room. They have live music. Everyone is served with beer, whether you ordered or not. Their beer is malty, light and easy to drink for someone like me that doesn't drink alcohol. Good food. Reasonable price. Great service.

Fun atmosphere with lively music! Beer and food were both great. Waiters wander the pub with trays of light and dark beer and another with a tray full of shots! Really fun place!

Awesome place to visit! I came here for drinks with friends and this brewery is like no other. The place is huge with countless rooms, a beer garden, and over 1000 seats. This is one of, if not the oldest brewery in Prague starting in 1499! The architecture is stunning and the staff was super nice. I also like how they have a spot where you can buy merchandise. I didnt have food but it smelled amazing, can't wait to go back!

Moravian "sparrow" (pork), sauerkraut, and two types of dumplings.

We went to this place because of its historic nature. The food was reasonable, though no better or worse than a lot of other places we'd visited: the "Moravian sparrow" (pork) was your standard Czech "meat-in-sauce over dumplings" and a Greek salad. Americans be advised: lettuce is not necessarily the base of a salad (this was cucumbers, tomatoes, red and yellow peppers, and feta cheese). One warning: they assume that anyone going to a 15th century beer pub is there to...drink beer. Their servers go around with trays of beer and their default is that unless you tell them no, you don't want another beer, they'll put one in front of you. No complaints, but if you intend to do anything later...

Suggested by a friend this restaurant and brewery is the oldest in Prague. Fabulous dark beer and a variety of options would make this a great lunch or dinner location. The servers were doing a good job and offered suggestions on drinks/ foods We were there just for drinks, sadly no cider on tap.

U Fleku's own special dark beer since 1499

U Fleků is the oldest brewery & pub in Prague, having been around for over 500 years. It's still filled with medieval style beer halls with great atmosphere. We were welcomed by an older gentleman upon entering this famous pub, and promptly seated in an area with a musician playing accordian. Only one beer is on tap, and it's their special dark lager that's been brewed since 1499. The unique taste is quite interesting, and you can't go wrong with this original brew. Conveniently, mugs of beer are brought forth to tables by a waiter making the rounds. Also, their traditional Czech food was surprisingly well-prepared. The roast pork and beef goulash were both tender with a good balance of flavors. Given its popularity with locals and tourists, expect to pay menu prices that are a little more than typical in town. The waiters didn't speak much English and seemed less cheerful than the host, but it didn't affect our good visit here overall.

You "gotta" see this place and enjoy a beer like others have for 100's of years. Food isn't any good, at all. Beer is delicious and strong.

This place churns out a dark beer, which tastes a lot like Shiner Black 97, if you're from Texas, you know what I mean.

Look for the Art Deco style entrance, which takes you down a long hallway past other unrelated shops, to the entrance of the brewery / brewpub. When I came, they weren't exactly offering tours, but they had paper place mats out that walk you through the brewing process, and how long this building has been doing which function of the brewing process. The waiter took me past a plaster accordion player statue to a booth by the fermentation tanks. I was in heaven! I got a sampler of beer, which includes their own pilsner, a few other beers, and my fav- the beer champagne! The beer champagne wasn't the champagne of beers, Miller High Life, but a beer champagne! It seems that they used champagne yeast to make a higher proof effervescently bubbly brew that I'd drink all the time if I could get it! I also got a shot of the distilled beer. I've tried this kinda stuff before, which isn't that great. Think a weird hoppy vodka. Theirs wasn't much better than most homemade moonshine. I've seen places make this 'shine from beer that gets messed up, but they don't want to pour down the drain. Meh- it works. The place was decorated in a strange brewery fashion. They have a breathalyzer mounted on the wall by the restroom! Wooot! I got a 1.354%! WOOOT!

Since it was the first sunny day in Prague after days of rain we took advantage of the outdoor seating for lunch. We started with a couple of their beers that they brew on site and they were quite good and a nice break from the local beer that is everywhere. The menu in English and the English speaking waiter made this easy to navigate. Given the number of of tourists it would be a surprise otherwise. I ordered the lunch special of the roasted chicken leg/thigh - it was very good and a good price with a side of potatoes. My wife got the deep friend cheese - apparently this is a common main dish in Prague. In Wisconsin this would be like eating a giant deep fried cheese curd as your entree. It came with boiled potatoes and was solid. A very nice setting for a good meal at a fair price.
