Our taxi driver recommended this place on our drive in from the airport. We went immediately and it was probably our best meal in Prague. We went twice! The goulash was the best thing here, followed closely by the pork knuckle!! We ordered schnitzel, felt a bit dry, a pork loin with fig sauce that was tasty, the potato soup, which was interesting, tasted like beef stew, the ham was not really anything special, just a filler, enjoyed the Prague ham over in the town square better. Tried dessert. Didn't get photos of everything but all meals were really good. Must stop here every time when in Prague. It felt like tourists and locals alike frequented this place. Reservations are recommended, the line gets long!! We lucked out the first time without reservations but the second time there was a 12 person deep wait so we walked in past the line and told them we had reservations and were seated immediately. This classic traditional Czech pub is popular with both locals and tourists. The interior was typical Czech pub, but it was nice out and I grabbed a table outside for myself...only to have 2 random local men suddenly join me at my table. I looked around and that is sort of a normal thing in Czechia to share tables with strangers(which has happened to me in other European countries). Waitresses were hustling and working hard in this busy establishment, but still maintained smiles and friendliness. While this place may seem touristy, it was great and the food quality is fantastic. 335K/$14.50 PORK CUTLET "GLAUBIC" XXL...this is a huge Czech style Wienerschnitzel, big, crispy, meaty, and delicious. It covers just about the entire plate. Loved this! Note they also serve a normal sized portion for 285, but I'm always hungry! Not really crazy about the food here. Multiple review sites claim this to be one of the most authentic and popular places in Czech. No idea if the locals love it but it feels like a tourist trap to me. Out of all the restaurants I went to this had the most people of different nationals, ready to Instagram the pork knuckle. We were served pork cutlets that looked like big chicken nuggets on a plate. Dry and bland. The "Prague favorite" soup was alright but it was like a watered down version of beef soup. The pork knuckle is a popular favorite, but it was also dry and flavorless. You can get pork knuckles everywhere. The place is actually huge and there's an underground network that makes it feel like a tiny maze. It's always packed full at all times of the day. The staff here are nice but it's hard to get service since it's so busy. It's so-so, but I wouldn't come back nor would I ever recommend it among the dozens of other Czech restaurants. read more

Kudos goes to hubs for finding this place. It was less than . 2 miles from door to door from The Augustine, Marriott property. We entered on the street floor and went down 2 floors before staff said there was an opened table. It's a cave type appearance. Rough rock walls, curved ceiling. Appropriately updated and current day fill in. Possibly used as a coal storage area back in the day. One wall has a chute that is now permanently closed. The staff was friendly, and everyone we encountered spoke English. And they helped me with my Czech. The food was perfect. And it didn't take long, at all to get. I had the Czech goulash in a bowl and hubs had the pork tenderloin with plum brandy sauce and ginger bread gnocchi. So good!! read more

I was looking for some authentic food while staying nearby and happened upon this place. Large menu with lots of options to choose from, ice cold beer and fast service this place was a great choice. Had to wait in like for roughly 15 mins but they move quickly to clear and prepare tables for the next guests. Our server was very friendly and spoke perfect English which was very help for tourists like myself. read more

Beef goulash with Bohemian bread dumplings was good, but wow, the stew was quite hearty and heavy. A one-time experience was enough for me! The beef was good and tender, although the bread dumplings were essentially just pieces of bread (not impressed). Glaubic ribs (roasted pork ribs in BBQ marinade, with two kinds of sauce, fried potatoes, and coleslaw) were delicious and flavorful. Lemonade was very sharply carbonated (best way to describe it), but if you like very carbonated drinks, then you might like it... Kingswood cider was really nice and not too sweet; it tasted unique, which I've not had in the USA. Pilsner Urquell is regarded as the best pilsner in the world, but because I've never been a big fan of the pilsner taste (too hoppy/bitter for me), it didn't really impress me. A must visit for authentic Czech food and experience! Felt like a naive at a neighborhood joint. We walked in and it was packed but lucked out when the waitress came thru, she sat us at the reserved table and we immediately ordered the duck and gulas, the duck was heavenly. Their Kozel černy (Czech dark beer) was only 39 Kons = $1.55 usd. We have never consumed so much beer in a week. Service was excellent. Our meal came to around $30 with two drinks, one soup and two entrees. Can't beat that! A wonderful experience for sure! read more

Please avoid this place if possible. Staff is extremely just simply extremely rude. 1. No body comes to take order or give menus for a very long time. Finally if you manage to see someone and ask them for menus you are literally given a terrible look and asked to "wait". Wowwwww the look was quite threatening. 2. My hubby and I are always on a lookout for random places in the areas we visit. We are big on researching places before we go, but we are also open to "spur of the moment" finds. This happened to be the latter. We noticed how busy this place was in comparison to the other restaurants next door. They serve traditional Czech food and beer (which is one of the main criteria) so this was the place. We walked around and loved the unique atmosphere. This resto has multi-levels which includes a cellar, separate dining rooms and that "pub/speakeasy" feel. We loved the decor. The food was Amazing! We had the traditional bread beef goulash and a chicken salad (have to have my greens). We loved the Cider beer and dark Kozel. Both are A++in our book. read more

This place is so good and the staff of fantastic! It's right off of Charles Bridge and most of the other spots in the area are tourist traps with overpriced mediocre food. Stopped for coffee in here on our way to the castle one January morning. The coffee came quickle and it was strong and bitter and good (so we had two more!). They had outside heaters inside in the little area we sat in, which was a good job as my face was red and frozen! I needed to defrost a little. On searching for the ladies toilets, i found that contrary to the impression you get when you walk through the front door, the place is not narrow and small, but in fact long and huge in size with a restaurant area out back and downstairs. We had a very unpleasant experience in this restaurant. Staff and the restaurant's management seem rude and racist! Here is the story; When we arrived at this restaurant, we had around 15 min wait time for a table to become available in the patio. The table we were waiting for had 4 seats and we were 2 people. Right when the table became available and we were seating, a local person showed up and sat on one of the seats. We tried to tell him that we have been waiting for that table and he should find another one, but he was responding mostly in Czech language. What we understood was that he doesn't like tourists and hates Americans, and he thinks since he is Czech he should be seated first! Obviously, we stopped the conversation right there and asked for the manager. Surprisingly, when the manager showed up, after talking with that person, he asked us if we can share the table with him!
