Beware of birds in the garden
PJ C.

We just stopped for beers and to see the hidden beer garden in back which is pretty cool. Some folks we met earlier on in our European travels told us about this place so we stopped in. The beer garden is wedged in between a church and an old wall - it is quite a fun setting. When we ordered beers despite the menu showing a few to choose from they only had one - the local beer that is everywhere and not my favorite. Another down side was that the servers were a bit brusk. We did not order food so I cannot comment on the quality. It is worth checking out the beer garden and don't forget to watch out for the pigeons (see attached photo).

Outstanding pig feet and bread dumplings. The portion is huge and I had a hard time finishing the huge pig feet, but in terms of the flavor, everything was perfect. The food came out very quickly and the service was very professional. I had a good time!

Goulash!

Loved this spot so much we went twice while in Prague! Food and service were amazing. I wish I got the name of our curly haired waitress cuz she was the best - she recognized our return immediately and brought over a shot of plum wine to share with us. The most incredible duck I've ever tasted and I'd give anything for some more beer cheese but really everything was amazing. It's a must!

Founded by Jacob Pinkas in 1843, the Restaurace U Pinkasu is the first in Prague to serve Pilsner Erquell with traditional Czech fare. Situated between towering cathedral walls, the beer garden has an old world atmosphere, they serve up traditional Czech fare in quantity. My only complaint is the hurried pours of Erquell are too much snyt (foam head).

They like their foam in Prague, but there's a line and this was on the line

Is this one restaurant or is this a bunch of different restaurants in the same space? I don't know that we ever worked that out, but we entered, caught the waiters attention, and were seated at a table then brought menus. Menus in Czech, English, German and possibly Russian. Orders placed (avoid the white wine, it was awful) and food arrived in a reasonable time. I had the beef goulash which was pretty good. Decently plated and served with slices of bread/dumpling that went well with the rich sauce. My friend had the roast pork with dumplings and it was okay. Not great. Beers were cold and the bathroom (down a flight of steep stairs) was clean. A little noisy but not excessively so. [Review 12252 overall, 2036 of 2019.]

Very heavy, traditional Czech meal. Pretty good, but only ate around half because everything was just so dense. Waiter was quite rude and refused to give us a receipt or split the bill. I would not come here again.

Some starters, beers and topinki :)

Never felt so unwelcome in my life. They treat tourist like "we don't need you", menu isn't attractive anyway.

We came at 4pm on a Thursday and they told us we could find a table with a reserved time, we just have to leave about 15 mins before the reserved time starts. We walked into the back, found a four top and the waitress immediately got a baby chair and brought menus. She said they make buttered noodles for free for kids and said she can put that in asap - total pro! We ordered the pork roll with dumplings and a side of beet salad to share - DELISH! The menu changes daily and the waitress will tell you what's good to order - do as she says - order came out in less than five minutes! The blonde beer was delicious and crisp, very drinkable. If you want some good services, vibes, and classic beer and food- this is the place.

Wow this place is busy around dinner time, but it turns over pretty quick! If you're looking for a…read morequiet intimate meal for two, this is most certainly not the place to go. If you are looking for a very lively place that seats about thirteen hundred guests per day and has twelve tanks of beer, and the beer hall vibe then this spot is most certainly for you. Close to the Old Town square it is not at all touristy, the service is good and the prices are very fair for what you get. K ordered the Goulash, and I had the Chicken Schnitzel along with a beetroot salad to share. The food was plentiful and very good, especially the goulash gravy which was a deep colour that had amazing flavour. The schnitzel was not as big as the plate, but I couldn't finish it. K had a glass of wine and I a beer for about $64 CDN, which is good in Prague. Our only quibble was that the beetroot salad turned into a cabbage salad with horseradish. It was also good, but not what we ordered. We would most certainly come back and endure the half hour wait to experience and enjoy what is a somewhat unique European offering.
