At first, you tell yourself, "Keep walking, this area is too touristy," as you saunter through the old city, BUT, those huge Czech beers look too good to miss... ...Sat down and ordered the Czech ham, and some chicken soup and was not disappointed. The ham was delicious and came with a whipped bleu cheese butter sauce and a few half slices of fried bread... oh man! Maybe one of THE MOST DELICIOUS things I've eaten in a while. The chicken soup was light, fresh, and delicious as well. It reminded me of a good Jewish deli. And of course, Czech Pilsner on tap is pretty hard to beat. Excellent service and delicious schnitzel but I took off one star because the food was overpriced since this is in a touristy location. I ordered the pork dish and it wasn't that good since I got mostly fat instead of lean, quality meat.. took another star off for that. read more

We were visiting the main square today when we started feeling hungry and we came across this restaurant.. They had an outdoor seating area with heaters and blankets.. I thought that was very cool that they added the extra touch (blankets) for the customers to feel comfortable and warm while dining... we ordered the lamb sausage, and garlic bread as appetizer.. As for entrees we ordered the pork ribs with mashed potato and pork medallion with mashed potato. As most of the fellow yelpers mentioned, the portions are very small here but again the location of the restaurant is what makes it worth it to go and dine there... And that is how this place got 4 star review from me... The service was very attentive and our waitress was very friendly... We had a great experience here. A very touristy place in the old town square that charges double the price if you seat outside hahaha what a concept. Anyhow, we visited in August 2010, and sat inside with an outside view which was a great deal. I really loved the duck here, so soft and succulent served with their steamed bread and pickled cabbage - so good! We loved their fresh Czech pilsners on tap - Urquell and Kozel hit the spot on a hot summer day! The chocolate crepe at the end was ok. read more

Two of us had the roast duckling that was so tender and flavorful. A third had a pork dish that he loved. Great view, food, and drink!

The only positive thing I can say is the location is good. Unfortunately it is the blandest food for the highest price I've ever paid. That's not even the problem, it's the service. I had trouble calling any waiter , Then when I asked the bill "tip is not included" was literally highlighted on the bill. I right away thought that's pretty low to do that but I understand this part of the world isn't used to tipping. Then when the waiter came back for the credit card machine he actually told me ok, so tip is not included to which I responded, yes I read that. We had 2 beers (refreshing and delicious), Prague ham appetizer (comes with some kind of cheese and peppers -- extremely tasty, highly recommend), and the goulash (comes with dark gravy and 2 potato pillows similar to large tater tots -- very enjoyable). Foods is delicious...like the pork chop dish and roast pork dish..which is quite good. We top up with the desserts ice cream and chocolate fondant, taste really good. My family and I spent 3 days in Prague recently and made our way back to Staromestka over and over. With numerous great choices we were drawn back to this very comfortable spot with a great location to people watch and enjoy world glass Pilsner with very good food options. These attributes were great, but the reason we came back over and over was the great staff. Sasha, Demitrie and Tomas were fantastic! By the end of our 3 days they all knew our choices and became our Prague friends. They were engaging, efficient and fun. I will definitely be back to this best spot in Prague. We went to this restaurant for our first lunch in Prague, it's in the middle of the old town square. It's a nice spot where you can watch people while you are eating/drinking BUT unfortunately our experience was horrible. We ordered pork ribs, roast beef & ducklings. We didn't really enjoy the food, it was ok and the portions were small as the other reviews say so. Our waiter had been kind of rude since we got there, the way he serve, which we thought he s having a bad day or could be his personality... When we asked for the bill, first we asked if we can pay credit card and he said the bill is "too much for the terminal" (980kc). Then we wanted to pay separately in cash, he told us he won't accept our money if we don't give 10% to him! After some discussion with the waiter, we gave his tip and left the restaurant because we didn't want to ruin the rest of our trip. So tourists please beware of this place! read more

NO LETTUCE ! The sirloin with dumplings was amazing! Dipping it in the sauce that surrounds it and the cranberries and whipped cream. Rude service, and overcharge you. We complained to the manager and he was dismissive and rude.

we ordered several menus including roasted pork knuckle, t bone steak, cabbage cake, goulash soup in bread and beers. T bone steak has too much strong tendon in it so my niece who loves T bone steaks wasn't able to chew it nor to cut. Pork kuckle meat was fine but skin was like a leather, no one in my family were able to slice it, the waiter told me that I had to bite it holding with hands but it was impossible to chew nor bite it. I know it is a collagen but I ate this once in prague several years ago, i was able to slice it ;). Beer and cabbage cake were good. Overall ok place to sit outside to drink beer and watch the beautiful street but overpriced especially for the T bone steak, almost 700 kc. read more
