Solid spot for great beer and good food on the Lesser Town side of Prague! We happened to stumble on this little nook on our way back from visiting Prague castle. It's an absolutely stunning environment with natural elements and great beer. The service was really good and they had good beer options for every beer drinker. We ordered light and dark beer and were super pleased with everything we had! We decided to order some traditional Czech food. We ordered "the best sausages in Prague," to which we agreed, marinated Camabert cheese, and pickled Czech sausage. All the food came with bread, which to die for. The traditional sausages and the camabert cheese were outstanding- we couldn't get enough! The pickled Czech sausage was not the best fit for us. We may not be the best to speak on it, but it just wasn't our favorite. Overall, make sure to stop by and grab a beer and a quick bite to eat at this super cute brewery! During our 4 days in Prague, we visited Roesel 3 times because it was our favorite place to eat. Hidden in the touristy castle side of the Charles Bridge, you will find the best pastries, beer, coffee and other beverages. Most of the people who come here are local and there is lots of seating available. It's truly a hidden gem. All of their pastries are made fresh. I highly recommend the banana bread with chocolate and peanut butter or the carrot cake. Everything is more than fairly priced for the quality of what you get. I particularly love their sparkling citrus lemonade. They also offer free wi-fi. We bought a couple of their beer mugs, which they sold to us for about $2 each, for souvenirs so we can always remember our favorite place to snack in Prague. read more

This bar and the staff are awesome, an especially great find in the castle/ Old Prague area. Roesel is a super tiny spot with limited menu options, but, if you know that going in, you'll have a satisfying, local experience with delicious tap beers (and some yummy-looking homemade desserts). We wanted somewhere a little away from the crowded streets and seemingly never-ending set of gift shops to grab a bite and some local brews. There's several tables outside the restaurant but we found a spot inside, closer to the action, and settled in. The beer on tap is a local beer, Clock beer, and we enjoyed both a wheat beer and more traditional lager. Pricing was very reasonable. We also got a light bite to eat - some sausages and bread, along with some rillete. We were both pretty satisfying- the sausage casings had a nice snap and were very flavorful, served with plenty of mustard and some sweet, caramelized onions. The rillete was also tasty. We were extremely tempted by the desserts at the bar, but, ultimately decided to leave dessert to another venue nearby. 2.5 stars I was rather disappointed with Roesel. They had a very small beer selection, though I did like the one I tried. Their lunch menu was very limited, mostly snacks. I had a cauliflower soup, which came out lukewarm with some stale bread on the side. Since they advertise beer and cake, I was looking forward to a great selection of cakes. These guys just treated me right! I came in on a Saturday evening for a light dinner and some beers. Had a delicious pale ale and something else I can't recall, great tap beers. As for food, I had a pate that I fought, since I'm not a huge pate guy. They gave me a taste, and I immediately ordered the pâté. Wow. I could eat it until I'm sick, it's so good. They also served me a daily special of pulled pork, which was really tasty as well. The folks running the place were super friendly and I ate at the bar and chatted with them. Stopped in for a quick bite and a beer as a break from our exhausting day! Came in and the place was pretty quiet; a patron in the corner was working on his laptop and a few friends were at the other side. We chose our seats and were quickly greeted and offered english menus. We chose 2 different beers, which we both enjoyed, and had a piece of chocolate cake covered in peanut butter frosting. There were so many good-looking desserts to choose from it really was hard to choose just one. After several days of eating Czech food and drinking Czech traditional beer, a change was in order. This is a nice place, near the Charles Bridge. It's a dark, quaint place, not a place to enjoy a sunny day, but the break we needed. We were able to enjoy some sales and some tasty small plates. Such a surprise!! After reading the reviews I was expecting to find really great beer, authentic local food and cosy atmosphere with other tourists. What I discovered was so much better! The beer was really great - best IPA I've had in a long while- the food was authentic, but there was not another tourist in sight, which was a such a welcome change up after the hustle and busily of Prague castle. A local pub quiz on the night provided a fabulous insight to the 'real' Prague. I had a great time being on the fringes of Prague 30 somethings having a night out. Such a hidden gem steps from the Charles bridge down a beautiful, hidden white alley way! Amazing light food and such a polite, hospitable staff that takes pride in their service and hand crafted foods! Found rhis by chance on Yelp and NEEDED to 5 star this place to make sure they got the credit they deserve! Thought it would be a tourist trap since it was right off the main road.... Totally surprised at how quite, calm and non touristy it was! The waitress says the locals come here to eat which I can totally understand! ROESEL - Nice Craft Beer Cafe - Beer Bar Near Me - Prague, Puerto Rico

Delightful find just past the Charles Bridge, on the way up to Prague Castle. It's a bare-bones place, quiet; a world away from the tourist mobs passing by on the street. The night we were there, all the staff spoke excellent English, and were very helpful and friendly. Someone who turned out to be the owner was at one of the tables, and explained that things were a bit slow that night because most of their customers are their friends, and there was some big party going on in town that their friends were attending. Meanwhile, his wife brought their toddler daughter in. The little girl toddled to a back room and emerged dragging a cardboard box. Her father put her in the box and pushed her all around the restaurant, to her delight. Ok, but what about the food? Simple, light stuff. I had raclette cheese melted on a hearty bread, with bacon (not the American stuff, mind you) and mustard, with a small accompanying salad. The menu consists largely of similar things: meats, cheeses and other things that you spread on bread, plus a small selection of pastries. I had what they called a "flapjack," which seemed pretty much like a granola bar, only tastier. They also had two varieties of chocolate cake, one of which apparently included beer. I plan to go back and try that. They have an extensive coffee menu, none of which I tried, as I unfortunately have become sensitive to caffeine. (I suspect no self-respecting European drinks decaf.) They offer beers from a brewery called "Clock," which one of our servers (we ended up talking to two of the three on duty, as well as to the owner) explained is a fairly new microbrewery operated out in the country by two former tech guys who got into home brewing). I had a light lager which was pleasantly bitter, but also had hints of fruit. My wife had a medium dark lager which was mild and pleasantly sweet. They appear to offer other alcohol as well, though I didn't try any. The same server ended up giving us a map-plus-guide-pamphlet announcing itself as a "Free map for young travellers" (I was flattered; it's been a long time since I could be considered young), and which begins, "TOURIST TRAPS: Naturally, there are a shitload of tourist traps here, so remember: Don't get a Thai massage, don't buy tickets to a concert on the street, don't think there is something local about absinth . . ." and continues with much helpful information. Wifi is available. All-in-all, a wonderful break from the tourist mobs. read more

Hidden jewel in a quiet hallway off the crazy tourist street at the end of the Charles Bridge. Husband and I wanted some cold beers to quench our thirst from the heat and a light lunch away from the madness and found ROESEL. Cute small interior with wonderful, simple, Czech food. This place has great craft beer, lemonade, and small plates. I tried their lentil soup and their sausages, and those 2 plates were enough for a whole meal. The total cost for my dinner plus beer came out to under 200 CZK (in USD less than 10 dollars). They also have a very nice relaxed atmosphere, with a small outside alley area.
