    Pork knuckle great!
    Katherine C.

I really wanted to like this place. The pork knuckle was excellent. The appetizers of cheese were great. The pork neck was just meh....alot of the meet was dry except close to the bone. The chili goulash didn't taste like chili but was good. The fried camembert cheese was good but pungent. The service was meh. It was quick but they brought the appetizers out with the meal which crowded the table. The neck bone looked like the knuckle. And the sauerkraut that came with the meal was horrible. We ordered the warm sauerkraut sides which came in red and white cabbage. The red cabbage one of was the best.

Meh. I didn't feel very welcome here when I visited during my first week in Prague, and the food was rather subpar. I ordered a beer and fried cheese, which seemed like a simple order, but they were really confused over the number of beers. They tried to bring two over and then took both away when I said I only ordered one. It took some time to get the one back. My fried cheese platter was really bland. I dumped SO much salt on them but it didn't help much. I ended up leaving most of it behind -- which didn't faze the server. If you want to sit in a nonsmoking section, you'll be in the basement. You do get a cool view of the mash tuns though. I liked that.

Great place to stop by for a drink and some delicious meat! We arrived late on Sunday night and the restaurant was still quite busy. The upstairs is for smoking and downstairs is non smoking. We ordered some Czech beers and the ribs and the chicken wings. We probably should have shared an order because it was way too much food for 2! The wings and ribs were well seasoned with a dry rub and were accompanied by sauces on the side. Not sure what the customs are in Prague but we got smoke funny looks from a table of locals when we were putting our food in to go boxes. Overall, great food and great beer!

Beer from the tank about $1.75 for 0.5L

Came here on a recommendation from sanderman tours. When I asked for traditional Czech food. He also pointed to me in the direction of cafeteria style restaurants that he says locals eat at. This restaurant had mainly tourist but my meal was exceptional nonetheless Beer 0.5L = 42c Ribs plate = 220c Beef goulash soup in bread bowl = 110c Total = about 500c = $20 USD And this is way too much food. First first, the decor and service are both great. The location is right behind the big church in the city square. The beer is is drafted from the tanks and refreshing. They put a lot of foam on top but idk if that is standard or not. The beef goulash soup was excellent and the bread bowl was surprising good. Normally, the bread bowl is just a container for the soup but I ended up eating the whole thing. The ribs were lightly seasoned and cooked very well. They came with a side of slaw, a pickle, a pepper and two sauces ( horseradish and mustard). I ended up taking a full rack of ribs home since I couldn't finish the full dish. It is an exceptional amount of food. Overall, I found the atmosphere pleasant and the food excellent. I would come back again to try a different dish. If I were to change anything, I would have either picked the soup or ribs, and not tried to eat both.

    Gambrinus light beer

We were on a 3 hour Prague walking tour and it was 27C out! What better way to quench your thirst and rest your feet than on a beer break! I mean, BEER break. Since beer is literally cheaper than water (still water will cost you 70kc or €3 and beer 39 kc or €1.50) obviously, my Asian thrift genes took charge even though I'm not really into beer. The Gambrinus light beer is delicious which they brew in house. New Sandemanns Europe tour office is also located here in the basement. If you need to book a Kutna Hora tour, theirs is the best value for your time and money.

Traditional Prague meal: chicken steak and potato salad!

After the Prague walk tour, our tour guide took us to this local bar restaurant. Apparently, it is famous for some of the local Czech cuisines. At the recommendation of the tour guide, most of us had the fried chicken steak with potato salad. Both items tasted divine. Czech adds special seasoning into their potato salad, and the chicken steak was fried to perfection. It is juicy inside and not too oily on the outside yet crunchy. We had a wonderful meal here. Apparently, they also make their own special craft beer. Czech people are known to consume the most beer in Europe, more than even Irish! Needless to say, this place's beer is quite good; too bad I don't drink haha. Enjoy this place if you come visit Prague!

Stopped in here for a beer while out on a tour. I guess they use this as homebase/resting stop. I only had beer here but they place looked nice and the food I saw going by was better looking that I thought it would be.

Foods are just so so. Service or the way how they treat gust suck!!

The koleno is too big for one to finish, this should be reminded by the waiters, but due to the stressful job they are doing, this is not reminded. The altitude of the waiter was a bit awful when we want to have a word with the manager, we only want to feel welcomed and comfortable, that's all, but the waiter apparently didn't want to improve his working attitude! They called "Czech way of service". In conclusion. Foods are just so so. Service or the way how they treat gust suck!!

Great 1st dinner in the city!

Delicious food and excellent beer, there are small questions for the service, but this is not critical. The portions are large.

The crowd seemed to lean slightly more tourist than locals, but I could be wrong. Service was friendly overall, and the ambience is crowded, loud, and well, its a pub! 125K/$5.25 Whipped Beer cheese with fried bread...I saw this on a Anthony Bourdain episode, and it did not disappoint! the creamy cheese was like spiced feta cheese, the toasted breads were a perfect vessel to transport the tasty cheese into my mouth. 260K/$11 Roast Beef in Rosehips sauce, with potato croquettes...this sounded amazing on paper! But it was just okay, as an American I like my beef medium and tender. This beef was more well done and dry, but the creamy rose sauce was wonderful and did a pretty good job of masking the beef averageness. The potato croquettes crispy and airy, unique! 260K/$11 4 Beer sampler. This seemed like a good idea at first, but for Czech prices this was actually bit pricy. The beers seemed to be about a 200ml pour each. Being from San Diego, California where we have the best beer in the world, I found each of the four beers just kind average. It's much cheaper just to buy individual beers. Good place, not a great place. Come by if its convenient at the moment, like it was for me.

Look for the Art Deco style entrance, which takes you down a long hallway past other unrelated shops, to the entrance of the brewery / brewpub. When I came, they weren't exactly offering tours, but they had paper place mats out that walk you through the brewing process, and how long this building has been doing which function of the brewing process. The waiter took me past a plaster accordion player statue to a booth by the fermentation tanks. I was in heaven! I got a sampler of beer, which includes their own pilsner, a few other beers, and my fav- the beer champagne! The beer champagne wasn't the champagne of beers, Miller High Life, but a beer champagne! It seems that they used champagne yeast to make a higher proof effervescently bubbly brew that I'd drink all the time if I could get it! I also got a shot of the distilled beer. I've tried this kinda stuff before, which isn't that great. Think a weird hoppy vodka. Theirs wasn't much better than most homemade moonshine. I've seen places make this 'shine from beer that gets messed up, but they don't want to pour down the drain. Meh- it works. The place was decorated in a strange brewery fashion. They have a breathalyzer mounted on the wall by the restroom! Wooot! I got a 1.354%! WOOOT!
