What better place to mark the end of summer and the beginning of another Allstar month than an afternoon trail ride. I always wanted to come here but my kid was under 6 before Harvey so we didn't. I remember this place getting flooded hard during Harvey. And during the ride they'll show you a tree which was underwater 25" high. I kinda recall a lot of the horses dying and them trying to evacuate them. The flooding was so sudden and it surprised us as well with 6" of water overnight in my Kingwood house. The online booking system was easy to navigate. There is a fee or tax which was about $7 for the two of us on a 1 hour ride. It's nice that someone actually answers the phone if you call. She didn't sound like she was working at the ranch as I heard a baby in the background. Today being a Labor Day they were extra busy. In fact I tried booking online and was unable to get my first choice because it filled up literally right as I hit the pay button. In my opinion this is definitely one of the better run horse ranches in town. I've noticed that other places are run by folks who have a passion for horses but, although they may intend well, they just do not have either the business acumen or more often the discipline required to run a business. But this place has a better grip on customers. We booked a 1 hour ride which actually turned out to be the perfect amount of time for us because our bums started hurting around then. But if you're a die hard, you can get another half hour for only $15 more. And then another half hour on top or that for yet another $15. Helmets are required but you can wear them over a hat. They also have free new bandanas which is nice because I didn't see anyone tending to the helmets or cleaning them off after folks returned from their rides. The helmet rack is self service. And it was hot, sweaty and sticky out there. You can also borrow a fanny pack for free. There are a lot of choices there actually although some of the bags have holes so just double check them (some smelled like wet towel too). They're big enough to store your water bottle. There's a soda machine too for $1.75 It's a pretty big ranch with lots of horses and ranch hands to help out. Customers seemed to keep coming and going today yet the ranch had enough horses for everyone. They have all types of horses. One woman in my group was probably pushing the 240 lb weight limit and she got a big horse that had hooves like a Clydesdale. She was wearing open toe sandals (like tevas) too. Our guide was nice and literally gave this customer the socks off her own feet because she didn't want the customer to get scratched up rubbing against the trees and bushes in the forest. The guide just rode barefoot. They're not super strict on the shorts either as many folks including the guide was wearing them. I'd say the actual ride time is about 45 minutes on a 1 hour ride. 10-15 minutes of instruction and getting folks situated and sorted out with gear and on their horses before the ride. You'll see lots of beauty berries which have an odor used to make perfume. And even some wild bamboo too. If the guide asks the group to choose between the flat trail or going into the forest riding on uneven terrain that goes up/down definitely choose the latter. You get to go in the forest and along the river on an only slightly uneven trail. It's immensely more interesting than the flat trail part. And the actual up and down is so minimal you'd barely notice it. Our horses were so mild manner. They knew exactly where they were going without any need to guide them by the riders. At the end you get to give your horse water. But nobody's horse was thirsty. $5 gets you some horse food which I recommend if you enjoy more interaction. There are signs encouraging tipping for a good ride. But the guides didn't seem all pushy about it like some places.

This was my first time riding a horse, and it was so much fun. I booked a spontaneous trip after coming across their website. I booked a 90-minute adventure ride, and I was the only one in the 90-minute group, so there was flexibility in what to see. For a small fee, you can also feed the horses. The staff and horses are very understanding that I had no experience with horses at all. It was great to be in nature. It is a very fun trip, both solo and if one goes with a group of people. I will definitely come back again. Shout-out to Erica for making the experience memorable.

Everything was amazing my third time riding horse was very calm listen to all my comments. My instructor was great very knowledgeable of the horses and the area. Took AWESOME pictures!!!! Only one complaint I paid for a sunset private ride, it ended before sunset! However I will be back!!!

Me and 6 others came here for my birthday, and it was one of the most fun experiences I've had in a while. I was a little nervous at first, but all of the staff were so professional, friendly, and educated about horses that it made me feel better. Plus, the staff gave so much direction, rules, and tips before the ride. Once we actually started riding, it wasn't nerve wracking at all and was so fun! We did the 1.5 hour adventure trail ride and our guides were Lois and Aria. Lois led the group and did a great job! I was closer to the back so I spent more time talking with Aria who was honestly amazing. She was so sweet, outgoing, and informative -- I couldn't believe how young she was when she told us because of the way she carried herself. I rode Toby who was a very sweet and calm horse. I will definitely be returning more than once and will ask for Toby, Aria, and Lois again! Lastly, all of the staff I interacted with were very sweet and I could tell they really care for the horses and enjoy what they do, which is always nice to see. Would definitely recommend this ranch!

This place is amazing! The staff ,the horses and ranch dogs make this place picture -perfect. The people that work here are so kind, caring and helpful. The horses have the best life and look so happy and healthy. We did a hour trail ride (with Lacy) and loved it so much we came back the next day and my daughter went on a fast 2 hour ride with Lacy. Had family visiting from the Northeast including three children ages 10, 8 and 5 yrs old. They loved the horseback riding and the Texas experience but the highlight was the lasso lesson with Cowboy Jacobi. He was so patient with the children, especially with my autistic nephew, and kept them occupied and entertained for almost an hour. They talked about it the entire week they were here. Visiting from out of town and we had a blast! Booked a 1-hour trail ride to celebrate my friend's birthday and everything was amazing. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful - especially the trail guides who were great teachers and taught us a lot of about the horses and their different personalities. I appreciated that they were willing to hold your items that were too big to take - but also provided Fanny packs for small things like your phone that you may want to bring along. I rode Jolly and he was super sweet, extremely chill and just overall warm which is nice because you want to feel that you can trust your horse. I would definitely return when I come back to Houston. Another TikTok find and I'm so happy I did. This was really an amazing experience! From the moment we arrived everyone was very friendly. They walked us through what to expect and told us to wait until we're assigned our horses. My horse's name was Red. She was a sweet girl. She listened pretty well. She liked to stop to graze sometimes though lol Our trail guide was Matt. He was so nice and funny and made you feel really comfortable. I told him I was nervous and it was my first time. He reassured me it's ok to be a little nervous but it's going to be fine and easier than I think. He was right. I had so much fun. It was a peaceful experience. Matt checked on us as we were riding to make sure we were ok. We only did an hour trail but I feel like that was more than enough for a timer. We also paid extra to feed the horses carrots. I am definitely returning if I'm ever back near here. Overall 12/10 experience. read more

I was looking for something fun to do and found this spot. I've always wanted to go horseback riding so I booked the 1h trail ride for myself. While it was quite a long drive for me, I think it was SO worth it and I can't wait to go back. Since it was a weekday morning, the traffic wasn't too bad and the trail ride didn't have a lot of people either. The staffs and guides were welcoming. I was kinda lost on just about everything and the lady at the front was super friendly :) Before the tour, our guide Cameron and Paul explained everything we beginners need to know. Me being curious, I asked many questions and they patiently answered them and I learned a lot about horses. At first it was scary to balance on the horse however within 10min in, I slowly got the hang of it and it was exciting! After the trail ride ended, I fed the carrots to the horses and they were so adorable. Water is a must in this heat! Apparently they offer lessons and longer rides where you go to the beach and stuff... I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this place. Also all the horses look well-cared and happy. read more

My wife and I went here for a Valentine's Day ride and we enjoyed every minute of it. The cowboys are very nice, patient and funny! They make sure you are comfortable and pace the rides at your comfort level while keeping it interesting with fun facts and plenty of jokes along the way. I loved cowboy Braden. He was super cool and helped us get pictures of our ride. We are definitely going back and I would recommend this place to any and everyone. 5-stars! read more

This was a wonderful experience! I did a 3 hour ride with a beautiful Arabian cross named Bedias and he took great care of me. Cece, my wrangler, paired us well and we were able to walk and trot with even some cantering. I had an amazing time! I loved the fact that Cece trusted my experience and we just let the horses do what they love to do. The horses are under great care and supervision. We celebrated my husband's 50th Birthday anniversary at Cypresswood Trail Ranch and we had an amazing experience. The Owner and Staff were very pleasant, well knowledgeable about the property and animals (horses), especially, accommodated our needs, and treated us very kindly and professionally. Our tour guide Cece was patient and kind to assist and guide us during our adventure. We had few scary encounters as first time riders but that's to be expected. We had lunch upstairs in the Main house and cut my husband's bday cake outside with family and staff at the Ranch. Overall, our experience was great and memorable! Update: Had my second lesson today with Crow (more stubborn but oh so sweet horse. He was in a great mood and wanted to just run lol ) and Noelle, both made the experience of continuing my lessons very enjoyable. Despite the rain, and the muddy paths, we had such fun. Got a bit of homework to help with my muscles and posture at home. Lol Can't wait for next week. Origin is: Absolutely one of the best experiences I've had yet. I have been on half a dozen trail rides, but never took any legitimate lessons. So I thought why not? It's about time...and it was incredible. Very informative and the instructor not only went at my pace but was a pleasure to ride with. The horses were very sweet and well behaved and I have to say it was a huge pleasure being able to feed my own horse carrots upon the conclusion of the ride. After her hard work of lugging me around lol this sweet Shaker deserved it. Beside my horse being so well behaved, the dogs were extra sweet. Being a retired dog groomer myself, it was a pleasure as they waited to be sure I was okay with allowing them to approach fearlessly gentle. Will be returning for sure for my next lesson read more

Booked a 1.5 hour private trail ride on 1/1/2023 and had a great experience. Checked in early and went around feeding the horses carrots that we brought with us. We were 5 with no horseback riding experience. The staff was wonderful and patiently taught us the basics. I loved everything about this place. You get you me hour long trail ride and it was worth the money. It was something different to do with friends and family. I would go back again when it's a little cooler. But there was a lot of shade on the trail so you're not dying of heat. Everyone was very sweet and helpful. After moving from California 6 months ago & I was having a hard time finding places to trail ride until I found Cypress Trails on Groupon. I was thrilled!! I have done 2 and 3 hour rides, private and group and they are all amazing. The trails are fantastic and the wranglers are knowledgeable and friendly. Preston can tell you everything about everything! Mark was helpful and gave great feedback. I have seen them work with beginners, tourists, families and folks who have ridden for years and all are respectfully. I look forward to taking lessons there or perhaps leasing one day. The barn dogs need there own YouTube channel, they are hilarious! read more

I loved this place because of customer service first and foremost. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Feeding the horses was an experience as well as learning how to communicate with a horse to make her turn around, stop, and go. I also noticed that horses were well taken care of and did not have an odor. I've rode horses in the past as well. The only thing I would change is for them to take a picture of the customer with a horse without a helmet on. Maybe standing next to it before the ride. To make it more presentable and something a customer can have as a memory. The guide did take pictures during the ride with customers phone as well as the video, which was a nice gesture. This was a relaxing ride and I would absolutely do it again. read more

The trail gave us great experience. Our guide Kaleb was very informative and checked on our group all the time. Me and my husband joined with others and rode in a range. They have 2 guides helped us and guide us the whole 1.5hours We went through the wood and learnt to seat, turn, stop, move forward and hop down a horse. I really enjoyed my trail ride this past Sunday! I purchased a Groupon for a 6 person trail ride and invited some family and friends. This place has a very good friendly staffs and tour guide. The horses have been well trained so they are very easy to ride even for the 1st time rider. They have a nice trail to take you around as a group. It's fun and enjoyable. If you have kids then they will love it even more. But it's too hot in the summer to do this now LOL. read more

Simply an amazing experience. I originally Booked a pony ride for my 4 year old son. The moment we arrived, we were greeted by all the staff, volunteers and felt at home. I asked if my son was able to do the trail ride since my wife and I also wanted to ride. The staff wanted to see if my son know anything about horses and the moment they sat him on the saddle, they felt confortable him riding alone. (He has ride before and been around horses). Special thanks to DANIELLE on guided my son's horse and special thanks to LAUREN for being such a wonderful guide also. She's very talkative and loves what she does. She made it very special. My 15 year old daughter and I went riding today for the first time. we chose the 1.5 hour ride. It was an easy check in process, and everyone was super friendly. We got good instructions and our wranglers were very nice trying to get to know us and engage with us along the ride. We had a beautiful morning, perfect weather for riding. Since we were beginners we had the easy trail I suppose...all walking, so it was nice and relaxing. The horses knew just what to do with very little guidance needed. My only suggestion is I wish the wranglers or other staff would take a moment to offer to take our pictures. It was challenging to get pictures on horseback when you are a newbie! Also I had purchased water we never received and that would have been nice to have on the ride. I had to ask for my purchases, like carrots and t shirt. (skip the shirt and bring your own carrots!). Small things but overall a wonderful experience and we would love to do it again. read more

one hour trail-ride the first visit to this place was awesome however I took a friend for her birthday the second time ( was her first time) and it was a disaster!! first of all the beginners 10 mins training only instructed how to turn your horse right and left. (different from the first time I was there) we were all so spread a part the person guiding was always way up front. the trail was very risky for inexperienced riders we were riding at the edge of a scary ditch where my friends horse leg went over the edge of the ditch causing her to fall off hanging on. it was so scary to imagine if she didn't hold on tight enough there is no way she would survive the fall. this review is really meant for this place to take their trails serious for beginners. Also maybe have all your employees give the same 10 minute lesson and stay closer to beginners. we are too traumatized to even get on a horse again. Responding to your comment: I rode with you guys shortly after that hurricane and had a safer experience with a group of 6 friends. Also Era is very much hurt bruised legs and traumatized! The path could've been chosen according to the experience level like the path we rode right after that hurricane. Like I said this review is meant for yall to take extra precautions going out with inexperienced riders!! read more

Perfect experience! Excellent customer service. The staff was informative and very friendly. Each time we were visiting with a horse a staff member would stop and tell us something about that horse. All the horses were very friendly. Glad we bought carrots to feed them. My son's guide was awesome! Highly recommend and worth the money. The remember from my email it was his birthday and that he wants to be a vet. Right when we walked up they started speaking with him about that. read more

Established in 1974.

Cypress Trails was first a private horse farm. The owner, Darolyn Butler, started providing endurance riding clinics and taking in boarders over the years. In 1998, after selling her video production business, she started a trail riding business where she offered not only lessons but also trail rides, lunch rides, and team building events. Darolyn is an avid competitor in the sport of endurance riding, and she has ridden over 38,000 miles of competition and holds the world record in races of 100 miles in a day. If you desire to get into the intense sport of endurance or just want a relaxing horseback ride, Cypress Trails Equestrian Center is the place to go.

Meet the Business Owner: Darolyn B.

Darolyn Butler has been riding and competing on horseback her entire life. As Miss Rodeo Oklahoma and Miss Ford Country in the early 70's, she was an all around cowgirl. After discovering endurance riding in 1981, Darolyn went on to win her first American Endurance Riding Conference National Championship in 1983, and she competed in her first International Endurance Competition in Austria in 1985. Since then, she has won 5 more national championships, accrued over 38,000 miles of competition, and competed in FEI International events in the USA and around the world. Darolyn was a member of the Gold Medal Team in the 1987 North American Championship, the Silver Team in 1989, the World Team in France in 2000, and a Central Team Member at the Pan American Championship in 2001 and 2003. She has competed in FEI races in France, Brazil, and the UAE. She owns and manages Cypress Trails in Humble, Texas, (near Bush Airport) where she offers Adventure Trail Rides, Lunch/Picnic Rides and Lessons.

Yes , It’s a requirement for your safety . I just brought my own . They deal with many customers of varying abilities. They are a very safe riding stable and take great care of their customers well being.

I tried to contact the barn owner to send him a new bridle rack because I didn't want any hard feelings. He would not answer my call, text or emails. The barn owner has a bad habit of talking bad about people after they leave. Then saying they are not welcome back. I know if several other boarders he has done this to.

I was recommended to try horseback riding to help with my anxiety which has gotten pretty bad lately. So, taking that advice as a "Why not, it can't hurt." I googled for a place nearby and discovered Cypress Trails. I ended up booking a 1.5 hour ride for that day, and was looking forward to it. But as my anxiety usually does, as it got closer to the time I'd need to leave to get there on time I could feel my panic attack coming on and being worried about driving the forty minutes out there. I called, I tried to cancel explaining (embarrassingly) why at the same time. The woman on the phone not only sympathized, but said that she would alert the instructor about my situation and said that when I did arrive, they would know I may take a little extra time to mount and so on. She also let me know there would only be two other people with me. It honestly helped get me in a more positive mindset that it would be fun. When I got there, EVERYONE was nice. There were hundreds of horses, and tons of dogs that welcomed me onto the property. I checked in, and the young man at the desk was very patient and was one on one with me getting on the back of the horse and guiding me through the basics. I was relieved to see that they had taken my height (or lack there of) into consideration and was given a beautiful Arabian horse that was on the smaller side. I know the guy could tell I was nervous, but it was less about the horse (named Dancer) and more my drive over. I rode a bit when I was younger but it had been awhile since then and I definitely was super awkward for awhile with the reigns. However, the moment we got out into the woods and on the trail, I started to feel better. My guide, and gosh I wish I could remember her name, was wonderful and engaging. She let me know that it was possible to actually "rent" out a horse to ride solo once you knew the trails well enough. It wasn't long before I began to feel more comfortable riding and was able to sit back comfortably and enjoy the view. Being out there, even though I've lived in Houston all my life, and just being around nature and animals helped tremendously. The bonus was the humans running the joint being just as equally friendly. After the ride I was allowed to dismount and lead Dancer to some water, where we had a few minutes together where she let me pet her and nudged her head into me gently a few times. So whether you're in town looking for something to do; or like me, struggling with anxiety and depression and you like animals (especially horses) GO. Spend the money, enjoy your time out, it WILL BE WORTH IT! It is definitely something I plan to make a habit of now. read more

This past weekend we went riding for my friends 31st birthday and there was a large group of us. At first I got a horse that I was not comfortable with because she kept hitting my leg and kicking the ground. She also didn't allow the wrangler to put the metal thing in her mouth and was pushing him away. I immediately knew that my horse was different because all the other horses were waiting there patiently except mine. I asked to be taken down to another horse that was a bit more calm and the wrangler just left me there. Finally, some nice lady came and got me off that horse and onto another one. Another one of the wranglers Toby I believe was his name decided to be rude and say "wow you want to get ponied? Never heard of that before" this was my first time riding and he was just plain rude. Anyways, we started the trail and the little girl who was about 12 who was ponying me was so sweet and kept checking on me to see if I was doing ok. The whole ride was nice and relaxing..... BUT then that wrangler Toby decided that he wanted to show off with his horse and started making the horse do all these turns that eventually the horse threw him off. He kept acting like he didn't get thrown off and that he jumped but by the way he was walking and looked scared we knew he had been thrown off. He also broke the rains which was caused by him being thrown off not him jumping off. So then his horse got loose and ended up hitting one of our riders horse in the behind and so then that horse threw off our rider. The wranglers did not check to see if he was ok they did not even ask they just kept going and the wrangler who was trying to catch his runaway horse was smoking like if he was unbothered by the situation. We were all first time riders and they were just plain rude!! The little girl was the only one with manners and who actually checked on us to see if we were doing ok. ALL the ladies there were extremely sweet and helpful unfortunately both wranglers that we had that day were just plain awful. I do not recommend this place to anyone just from my experience. read more

I did a 1.5 hour trail ride with Aven as our guide and one lesson with Diane so far. I'll start with a review of the trail ride. Aven was very nice and friendly, which I think is important when you go to a new place, especially if you're riding horses. She made me feel comfortable. I've tried two other places besides some beach rides while on vacation and pony rides as a child. They were pretty good experiences. However, I really enjoyed the scenery here, and most of the staff seemed helpful. It was definitely one of the best experiences I've had, at least from the limited time I've been riding horses. I'll probably want to try a lesson with Aven next, if not another trail ride. Now as far as my lesson with Diane, it was a bit different, which I would expect from a learning situation. Diane was funny and tough. Being a former military man, although I like doing well, I think it's important to get a no-nonsense opinion of where I'm at. I think that's good when you are being taught as opposed to a leisurely trail ride. With some of her suggestions, she got me from nearly falling off on a trot, to posting and getting into a more comfortable rhythm within the first 15-30 minutes of our hour lesson. (I still need a lot of work on that though.) In any case, it was a good lesson. I definitely want to get better at this. However, starting as an adult, and with my build, I really don't know what I would focus on other than learning basics and riding for fun. For now, Cypress Trails will be part of my journey. read more

Yesterday, my wife and I visited Cypress Trails and had a delightful experience. My wife is an experienced rider, while I am still a novice, having only ridden Western style a few times. A word of advice: they ride English style, which is essentially the opposite of Western style, so be prepared for some initial confusion if you're unfamiliar with English riding. They assigned me a horse that moved at a steady pace, which I was grateful for. As a novice rider, I'm always paired with a horse that's a bit stubborn and enjoys eating a lot, which amuses me but also requires constant correction whenever they spot a tasty treat! My wife, on the other hand, was given a retired racehorse, and she had no issues controlling him, given her extensive experience with English style riding. This was somewhat frustrating for me, as I was floundering, trying to control a lethargic horse while still learning the basics of riding and English style riding. The weather was ideal. The rainy conditions meant we were spared from the scorching temperatures that are common in Houston in June. They also had steps for shorter riders like us, which we found very helpful. We are both under 5' tall, so these steps were a godsend when it came to mounting and dismounting. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. We plan to return and would recommend Cypress Trails to anyone looking for an enjoyable outdoor activity, regardless of their experience with horse riding. read more

booked a private ride for my birthday and was honestly one of the greatest gifts I've ever given myself! The ride was beautiful, and beyond serene! So many cool different paths to take and all of them full of lush greenery. I was a bit worried about that since the freeze in February turned most of Houstons plants brown, but its almost as if this place was untouched! And the staff was super helpful and kind, from the beginning of signing waivers to getting riding instructions, and OF COURSE our kick ass tour guide!! Jacobi made the day super special, his energy was unmatched, and brought all the good vibes and definitely made my experience better than expected. He was so kind and outgoing and a treat to be around. I felt bad when passing the other groups because they just didn't seem to be having as much fun! Needless to say, I'll be requesting him when I go back. And last but not least, the horses were BEAUTIFUL and awesome. I've never ridden a horse before and it was pretty easy to learn, but between the selection of horses and the staff I think I really lucked out. If you're thinking of booking a ride or lesson, THIS IS YOUR SIGN! DO IT! You won't regret it! I don't even write yelp reviews but that's how deserving my experience was! Oh my goodness! This was the absolute best experience. I was so nervous. I wanted something to do with my six year old and 22 year old. None of us had any experience on a horse and when I called and expressed my concerns - she immediately made me laugh and put my fears at ease. My six year old son did fabulous on a horse named "Aloof" - request him if you have a little one. Best horse ever. Our guides were talkative young and funny. The roses are well trained - even though some little to take little nibbles here and there! But the best part was that I am a Type 1 diabetic and before the trip I was feeling really badly even though I had eaten. I checked my blood sugar and it was 53. I didn't have any cash or anything to drink or eat and everyone was on their horses. They were so awesome and understanding and immediately got me a coke and told me to take all the time I needed . They cared about my safety than their timeframe. I was so impressed and my kids had a fabulous experience! I highly recommend them!!! read more

I can't explain the horror I felt as watched their horses struggle for their lives. I know what a flash flood is. The news reported for several day that we were in for heavy rain. You can't keep using the excuse that it happened so fast. You had days to prepare! If you know you are in a flood zone, you should have an evacuation plan. Even with so many horses! If you are going to run a business with them, they should have a way to transport them in the case of a natural disaster. Especially since this has happened before. You should know better. Shame on you! It will be long time before I will be able to stop picturing those poor animals. I adore horses, much more than the average person. I, unfortunately, can not afford them. But if I could I would have plans in place! You will never get any business from me and I will make sure that everyone I know will know of your negligence. read more

I have lived in this area for the last few years and I have always passed by this place. I was a little reluctant on letting my 5 year old ride due to inexperience and her being fidgety and scary but she had an amazing time. Jude was our trail boss and he did an excellent job of providing clear and concise block of instructions for my girls to understand and know what to do with the horses. I was blessed to be able to have him as our lead. He kept us at a nice comfortable pace so that my girls were not nervous about the ride and we enjoyed the trail. We finished our tour of the trail and sent another appointment immediately for the following weekend. This place has some awesome views and i absolutely enjoyed this time. i enjoyed Jude!!! i pray that he continues to be a part of that organization. Loved My Ride at Cypress Trails Ranch! Had an amazing time horseback riding at Cypress Trails Ranch! The customer service was outstanding--everyone was super friendly, patient, and made me feel totally at ease, even though I'm not an experienced rider. The ranch itself is in a beautiful location--peaceful, scenic, and the perfect place to unwind and connect with nature. The horses were well cared for and gentle, and the whole experience felt safe and well-organized from start to finish. They offer different ride options, and the staff really takes the time to make sure you have the right fit for your skill level and comfort. Updating my previous rating (which was already 5 stars) because I've seen deer in the woods on both my rides this weekend. The deer are so close to you on the trail and they stop to look at you while you look at them. I think I've ridden here now six times in just over a month. Seeing deer that close just fills my heart with joy. Also, fyi that they have upgraded to actual restrooms with cold AC. I saw some older reviews complaining about porta-pottys. Those are long gone. So no more sweating when you have to go. I do recommend that everyone plan wearing long pants. There are typical usual Houston pests like mosquitoes, flies, and ticks. But there is also poison ivy and poison oak, and you don't want that touching your bare legs while riding. Just say no to riding in shorts, skorts, Daisy Dukes, etc. (no matter how great you look in them) read more

I came here to celebrate my daughters 16th birthday and her love for horses! I was extremely terrified to do the trail ride with her but I did it for her, because she's my heart! I was nervous when the instructions were being given at first but Mark made sure that he talked me through everything and halfway through that ride I became way more comfortable! On top of that, he and the entire trail ride party sang happy birthday to my daughter while on horseback and took pictures of very memorable moments! Afterwards, we fed the horses carrots and we left with goodies to remember our visit! That smile on her face, was priceless! Everyone at this horseback riding place was extremely nice from the time I walked in and out. Jude was our guide and the craziest part is my girlfriend just wanted someone like us .. fun outgoing funny down to earth etc.. and Jude was all those things .. If we were having a conversation about something, it's like he can latch on to any of them with no problem. The ride was never boring. But to put the cherry on the sundae, I lost my phone and wallet in the middle of the ride and Jude told me he would go back and look for it.. He changed horses when we were done and raced back into those woods and rode up and down those trails for 30 minutes looking for my phone and wallet ..... I thanked Jude as he galloped back in with a huge smile on his face! Thanks Cypresswood trails for this experience! We'll be back with more ! read more

So me and my grandson, both being native Texans, have never ridden a horse. We got there and the staff could not have been more helpful. They were friendly and knowledgeable. I informed them that I had seconds of experience and that I was terrified of falling. Within a few minutes of being on the horse I felt as natural as could be. My grandson was in front of me and we rode through the woods next to cypress creek. It was so beautiful, so peaceful. At one point I told my grandson that all we needed was a campfire and big pot of beans. I could say that this was the best trail ride that I have ever been on however being the only ride that I have been on it wouldn't carry much weight. We live in Houston and the trail ride was exactly what we needed to get out of the city and back in nature for a little while. The ranch staff, including the very friendly ranch dog Shimmishang, helped us get ready for our experience by showing us where to go and what to do when we got our horses. Our guide, Preston, was very conscientious and knowledgeable about horses and training novices like us on how to "steer' our horses. What I enjoyed most was the trail. It wound through the cypress and pine trees along the edge of a creek. You really felt like you were miles away from civilization. Once we were under the tree canopy, the usual summer Texas heat was not noticeable. It was a very enjoyable family (with teenagers) outing! I would highly recommend it. read more

I flown in from Singapore yesterday and intentionally stopped by Houston to go horse riding with Cypress Trails. I booked a walk-trot-canter 3-hour ride, and was supposed to get there by 9.30am this morning. I overslept and called Cypress Trails. It was already 10.15am and I was still in Houston!! They knew that I was flying in from Singapore and came all the way just to ride with them that they found me a wrangler at 11.30am and we did the walk-trot-canter 3-hour ride. I really appreciated Cypress Trails making this happened. They were really busy today with so many riders and it was easy to turn me down since I was 2 hours late!! But they didn't, and I am glad that I stopped by Houston, and will leave Houston tomorrow with some great memories!! read more

My name is Oscar and I came with my girlfriend to this place for an hour long adventure. While the horse riding experience itself was nice, the guide, who looks like a young white lady, was not very friendly. She addressed me as simply "hey guy", which I did not mind too much. But when my girlfriend dismounted and was walking away, she shouted at her "Hey! Hey!". Couldn't she address her as "maam" with some descent human respect? It bogged me because we were the only the only Asians and she was being specifically rude to us, and then laughing it off like it was a joke. Please, please inform your staff that they would treat all customers respectfully, regardless of their race. P.S. That guide was in the picture leading all the way in the front read more

Had so much fun on my horseback riding experience!! Went for my birthday at the end of March and did the 9 AM ride. Weather was perfect! This is the first ride of the day, ARRIVE 30 MINUTES EARLIER THAN THE START TIME OF YOUR RIDE!! The price is great, $65 for 1 Hour and the trail ride is nice and peaceful!! There are longer rides as well if you're looking to ride for more than an hour at additional cost, but really the price for all the rides is good. They have a ton of horses and you can even feed the horses for an extra $2! Our tour guide was super nice and she was a great instructor with how to handle the horses! I would definitely go back again and would recommend the ranch to anyone looking to take a ride! read more

I went with three friends on a 1.5 hr trail ride. From the moment I got there, I knew this was going to be a positive experience. The dogs on the property were calm (not high strung, like other places I've been), the horses were calm, clean, and well taken care of. We got there a half hour early and were able to saddle up and take some time to get to know our horses. As everyone in our group was on time, we were able to hit the trail exactly when scheduled. Our guide was Brian, and he was exceptionally helpful, engaging, attentive, and instructive. After we returned, a helper came and snapped a bunch of photos for us. I couldn't be happier with our experience. I plan on going back. read more

I Always book a trail ride at Cypress Trails for a peaceful escape in nature and yesterday was special because my 8 year old neurodivergent son wanted to join me for his first ride. Matt was our guide and i can honestly say that it wouldn't have been possible without his help. He was EXTREMELY patient with my son and stayed with him the entire time to ensure his safety and made him feel comfortable by talking to him and working with him through his stemming episodes the duration of the ride. Thank you so much Matt for being a part of a huge core moment for my son (his feather is safe) and thank you Cypress Trails Ranch for another beautiful trail ride! read more

Was here about a year ago, saw a Groupon and reminded me of my experience here. Absolutely horrible! A young lady named olive checked us in. She was smoking the ENTIRE TIME right in my daughters face on her E-cigarette. I talked to a older lady staff member with glasses and she said it was normal and said olive does it 'on trail' too it's outside so it doesn't matter. AND LAUGHED ABOUT IT. I was so upset and asked where the manager was, and I was pointed to Olive! Such a inconsiderate rude and b*tchy girl should not be in charge. Stay away from here unless you want you're children to get second hand smoke poisoning. ZERO STARS. read more
