Had an amazing time at Cypress Trail Ranch! I made a spontaneous reservation the day I landed in Houston and didn't regret it at all. Special shoutout to Melisa -- she was both hilarious and super educational! The staff was incredibly friendly and sweet, and the horses were gentle and patient (which I definitely needed since I was a little scared at first ). Everyone -- both the team and the animals -- made me feel completely at ease, and I was able to truly enjoy the ride. I'll definitely be back!
I had such a great time doing the adventure trail. Melissa was our leader and she was very patient and easygoing. Highly recommend for out of town visitors
What better place to mark the end of summer and the beginning of another Allstar month than an afternoon trail ride. I always wanted to come here but my kid was under 6 before Harvey so we didn't. I remember this place getting flooded hard during Harvey. And during the ride they'll show you a tree which was underwater 25" high. I kinda recall a lot of the horses dying and them trying to evacuate them. The flooding was so sudden and it surprised us as well with 6" of water overnight in my Kingwood house. The online booking system was easy to navigate. There is a fee or tax which was about $7 for the two of us on a 1 hour ride. It's nice that someone actually answers the phone if you call. She didn't sound like she was working at the ranch as I heard a baby in the background. Today being a Labor Day they were extra busy. In fact I tried booking online and was unable to get my first choice because it filled up literally right as I hit the pay button. In my opinion this is definitely one of the better run horse ranches in town. I've noticed that other places are run by folks who have a passion for horses but, although they may intend well, they just do not have either the business acumen or more often the discipline required to run a business. But this place has a better grip on customers. We booked a 1 hour ride which actually turned out to be the perfect amount of time for us because our bums started hurting around then. But if you're a die hard, you can get another half hour for only $15 more. And then another half hour on top or that for yet another $15. Helmets are required but you can wear them over a hat. They also have free new bandanas which is nice because I didn't see anyone tending to the helmets or cleaning them off after folks returned from their rides. The helmet rack is self service. And it was hot, sweaty and sticky out there. You can also borrow a fanny pack for free. There are a lot of choices there actually although some of the bags have holes so just double check them (some smelled like wet towel too). They're big enough to store your water bottle. There's a soda machine too for $1.75 It's a pretty big ranch with lots of horses and ranch hands to help out. Customers seemed to keep coming and going today yet the ranch had enough horses for everyone. They have all types of horses. One woman in my group was probably pushing the 240 lb weight limit and she got a big horse that had hooves like a Clydesdale. She was wearing open toe sandals (like tevas) too. Our guide was nice and literally gave this customer the socks off her own feet because she didn't want the customer to get scratched up rubbing against the trees and bushes in the forest. The guide just rode barefoot. They're not super strict on the shorts either as many folks including the guide was wearing them. I'd say the actual ride time is about 45 minutes on a 1 hour ride. 10-15 minutes of instruction and getting folks situated and sorted out with gear and on their horses before the ride. You'll see lots of beauty berries which have an odor used to make perfume. And even some wild bamboo too. If the guide asks the group to choose between the flat trail or going into the forest riding on uneven terrain that goes up/down definitely choose the latter. You get to go in the forest and along the river on an only slightly uneven trail. It's immensely more interesting than the flat trail part. And the actual up and down is so minimal you'd barely notice it. Our horses were so mild manner. They knew exactly where they were going without any need to guide them by the riders. At the end you get to give your horse water. But nobody's horse was thirsty. $5 gets you some horse food which I recommend if you enjoy more interaction. There are signs encouraging tipping for a good ride. But the guides didn't seem all pushy about it like some places.
We had a great time riding the trails! We had a quick intro on how to handle the horse and what to expect going into the trail. Our guide was friendly and made sure we were all comfortable and having fun. We were able to pet & give treats to the horses after which was nice. It's a great experience and I hope to visit again soon!
This was my first time riding a horse, and it was so much fun. I booked a spontaneous trip after coming across their website. I booked a 90-minute adventure ride, and I was the only one in the 90-minute group, so there was flexibility in what to see. For a small fee, you can also feed the horses. The staff and horses are very understanding that I had no experience with horses at all. It was great to be in nature. It is a very fun trip, both solo and if one goes with a group of people. I will definitely come back again. Shout-out to Erica for making the experience memorable.
Went on a private trail ride 8/25 everything went smooth I had a lot of fun and the horses were really friendly and well trained they did a good job at walking us through how to conduct ourselves on a horse which was super important since I have zero experience with horses 10/10 experience I would definitely go back
Reviews are largely positive. Many highlight the friendly and knowledgeable staff, well-trained and gentle horses, and scenic, well maintained trails.

City girl meets the country side. Let me just say, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. The staff was great; happy, caring, helpful, and full of knowledge. I had the pleasure of riding with Toby. I rode with him for about an hour. Within that hour, I learned a lot about Toby. He is determined, made sure I was safe, and brave. Although I was in charge of directing him, I think Toby did a better job directing me . To end the riding, I fed him some carrots for his hard days of work . *If you have the privilege of riding with Toby, a reminder, he does like to get a little close behind the horses - which you just pull back and he will pause. *I constantly petted Toby, making him feel a little more comfortable with me and constantly telling him "Good Job!" Not sure if horses understand, but it did give Toby more of a calmer attitude. read more

We came to cypress Trails Ranch during our visit to Houston on our last day. the ranch was easily located by Uber and left us only 15 mins away from the Airport to travel back. The ranch was a lovely, friendly location where we were instantly welcomed and guided to where we needed to be. I purchased a fast ride where I was lucky enough to be alone with a guide. The ride consisted of different paces, going through the forest, cantering down the open creek and enjoying a chatty conversation with the guide. My partner stayed at the ranch, enjoyed time with the rescued dogs, stroking horses, trying on cowboy hats and getting to know the workers. Everyone was so kind. It is important to check your riding level and ability before purchasing a ride. I have ridden often in the UK and a fast trek was perfect for my ability. They also welcome all abilities. If we ever travel to Houston again we will be sure to return! Thankyou Cypress horse ranch! read more

This place is amazing! The staff ,the horses and ranch dogs make this place picture -perfect. The people that work here are so kind, caring and helpful. The horses have the best life and look so happy and healthy. We did a hour trail ride (with Lacy) and loved it so much we came back the next day and my daughter went on a fast 2 hour ride with Lacy. Lacy is so sweet, knowledgeable and just a amazing human. I would ask for her !! Thank you for a wonderful, safe time. We will definitely be back! ~Hayley Orange County , California read more

Visiting from out of town and we had a blast! Booked a 1-hour trail ride to celebrate my friend's birthday and everything was amazing. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful - especially the trail guides who were great teachers and taught us a lot of about the horses and their different personalities. I appreciated that they were willing to hold your items that were too big to take - but also provided Fanny packs for small things like your phone that you may want to bring along. I rode Jolly and he was super sweet, extremely chill and just overall warm which is nice because you want to feel that you can trust your horse. I would definitely return when I come back to Houston. So much fun! read more

I had the best time at Cypress Trails Ranch! I booked a hour long Trail Ride on a Sunday afternoon and everything about it was spectacular. It is a family run farm and the owners and tour guides were so helpful and patient, especially with me only being a second time rider. It is just ten minutes from Bush airport and in a secluded area but super easy to get to. They have a wide array of horse that are well taken care of, and some very cute pups roaming around too. Highly recommend! read more

Another TikTok find and I'm so happy I did. This was really an amazing experience! From the moment we arrived everyone was very friendly. They walked us through what to expect and told us to wait until we're assigned our horses. My horse's name was Red. She was a sweet girl. She listened pretty well. She liked to stop to graze sometimes though lol Our trail guide was Matt. He was so nice and funny and made you feel really comfortable. I told him I was nervous and it was my first time. He reassured me it's ok to be a little nervous but it's going to be fine and easier than I think. He was right. I had so much fun. It was a peaceful experience. Matt checked on us as we were riding to make sure we were ok. We only did an hour trail but I feel like that was more than enough for a timer. We also paid extra to feed the horses carrots. I am definitely returning if I'm ever back near here. Overall 12/10 experience. read more

I was looking for something fun to do and found this spot. I've always wanted to go horseback riding so I booked the 1h trail ride for myself. While it was quite a long drive for me, I think it was SO worth it and I can't wait to go back. Since it was a weekday morning, the traffic wasn't too bad and the trail ride didn't have a lot of people either. The staffs and guides were welcoming. I was kinda lost on just about everything and the lady at the front was super friendly :) Before the tour, our guide Cameron and Paul explained everything we beginners need to know. Me being curious, I asked many questions and they patiently answered them and I learned a lot about horses. At first it was scary to balance on the horse however within 10min in, I slowly got the hang of it and it was exciting! After the trail ride ended, I fed the carrots to the horses and they were so adorable. Water is a must in this heat! Apparently they offer lessons and longer rides where you go to the beach and stuff... I can't wait to go back. I highly recommend this place. Also all the horses look well-cared and happy. read more

Had family visiting from the Northeast including three children ages 10, 8 and 5 yrs old. They loved the horseback riding and the Texas experience but the highlight was the lasso lesson with Cowboy Jacobi. He was so patient with the children, especially with my autistic nephew, and kept them occupied and entertained for almost an hour. They talked about it the entire week they were here. Really appreciate the kindness of Cowboy Jacobi and all the staff at Cypress Trails. read more

Update: Had my second lesson today with Crow (more stubborn but oh so sweet horse. He was in a great mood and wanted to just run lol ) and Noelle, both made the experience of continuing my lessons very enjoyable. Despite the rain, and the muddy paths, we had such fun. Got a bit of homework to help with my muscles and posture at home. Lol Can't wait for next week. Origin is: Absolutely one of the best experiences I've had yet. I have been on half a dozen trail rides, but never took any legitimate lessons. So I thought why not? It's about time...and it was incredible. Very informative and the instructor not only went at my pace but was a pleasure to ride with. The horses were very sweet and well behaved and I have to say it was a huge pleasure being able to feed my own horse carrots upon the conclusion of the ride. After her hard work of lugging me around lol this sweet Shaker deserved it. Beside my horse being so well behaved, the dogs were extra sweet. Being a retired dog groomer myself, it was a pleasure as they waited to be sure I was okay with allowing them to approach fearlessly gentle. Will be returning for sure for my next lesson read more

My wife and I went here for a Valentine's Day ride and we enjoyed every minute of it. The cowboys are very nice, patient and funny! They make sure you are comfortable and pace the rides at your comfort level while keeping it interesting with fun facts and plenty of jokes along the way. I loved cowboy Braden. He was super cool and helped us get pictures of our ride. We are definitely going back and I would recommend this place to any and everyone. 5-stars! read more

This was a wonderful experience! I did a 3 hour ride with a beautiful Arabian cross named Bedias and he took great care of me. Cece, my wrangler, paired us well and we were able to walk and trot with even some cantering. I had an amazing time! I loved the fact that Cece trusted my experience and we just let the horses do what they love to do. The horses are under great care and supervision. I highly recommend booking a ride with Cypress Trails. Be honest about your experience and trust the staff to take care of the rest! read more

We celebrated my husband's 50th Birthday anniversary at Cypresswood Trail Ranch and we had an amazing experience. The Owner and Staff were very pleasant, well knowledgeable about the property and animals (horses), especially, accommodated our needs, and treated us very kindly and professionally. Our tour guide Cece was patient and kind to assist and guide us during our adventure. We had few scary encounters as first time riders but that's to be expected. We had lunch upstairs in the Main house and cut my husband's bday cake outside with family and staff at the Ranch. Overall, our experience was great and memorable! I highly recommend this place to anyone look'ing for a fun, adventure, and excitement. From: Obadiah, Ophelia, and Joy Campbell read more

I loved this place because of customer service first and foremost. Everyone was friendly and knowledgeable. Feeding the horses was an experience as well as learning how to communicate with a horse to make her turn around, stop, and go. I also noticed that horses were well taken care of and did not have an odor. I've rode horses in the past as well. The only thing I would change is for them to take a picture of the customer with a horse without a helmet on. Maybe standing next to it before the ride. To make it more presentable and something a customer can have as a memory. The guide did take pictures during the ride with customers phone as well as the video, which was a nice gesture. This was a relaxing ride and I would absolutely do it again. read more

My four year-old grandson would like to ride, but he's never ridden before. Do you have ponies? He probably won't want to ride for long do you have 30 minute increments??…
Beverly, we do have pony rides, they are perfect for 4 year old kids. You can lead the pony or hire a staff member to lead them around the yard. A half hour pony ride is $35 and can be booked online at cypresstrailsranch.com.
Hello I would like some information on horseback riding for 2-3 adults.…
Go to the website and book and pay for your horse ride on any day you choose that they are open.
If you are an experienced rider are you required to ride with a helmet? My husband only wears caps and cowboy hats. :-) I was thinking this would be a good birthday gift for him if it is not a requirement.
Yes , It’s a requirement for your safety . I just brought my own . They deal with many customers of varying abilities. They are a very safe riding stable and take great care of their customers well being.
