This was our first time ever riding horses, and the experience was really good. This looks like a family-owned business, which honestly made the experience even better for me. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The horses are well trained and follow each other since they already know the trail, but they still respond to commands like go and stop, and you can steer them left or right if you want. That made us feel comfortable even as first-time riders. The only area I think could be improved is having a small practice area for brand-new riders to learn the basics before heading out on the trail. Other than that, everything was amazing. If I could give 0 stars I would. I've been horseback riding before, so I am not completely inexperienced. They were extremely unprofessional. We had a very delayed start, and all of the employees were showing signs of being overwhelmed, resulting in them being rude to paying customers. I overheard the younger male who's supposedly in charge talk to one of the girls that was helping him named Maddison telling her "you don't want to help okay f*ck you." She had to be no older than 14, but I minded my business I don't know their relationship. They barely touched on any rules before we started, and they had kids leading us on the trail. The kids that were leading didn't even have control of their own horses. There was a lot of water areas on the trail, and the horse that I was on called Romeo kept trying to avoid the water. I was told l'd have to try a little harder to steer him so l did, but he didn't listen a lot of the time. Almost like he isn't used to being ridden. Towards the end of the trail there was a large area of water and he ran through a small space between some trees that I could barely fit through. I was steering him away from the trees before I even got close, but the horse did it's own thing and I ended up falling off and stealing my legs against the trees. I decided I was done riding, and at the end I went to talk to one of the staff about my experience. He was very dismissive and basically said that it was my fault for not steering, even though he did not witness the situation. He didn't apologize, he was defensive and talked over me during my explanation. I didn't threaten to leave any bad reviews nor did I ask for any kind of refund. I was simply informing them so they'd be aware for future riders. Animals are not predictable and as people we know that. When I told him that I fell he said "well clearly you didn't steer." I have witnesses that were riding behind me that seen that I did what I was supposed to do. After we accepted the fact that they were just rude and bad business owners, I said forget it we're going to just call it a day and leave. The man "in charge" threatened to call the police on us if we didn't show him our receipts proving that we paid. They checked to see if everyone paid before we even started riding.He was just offended, and I honestly believe that he is scared of a lawsuit. Terrible experience and I feel bad for the young girls that have to help him run things there. They need some sort of investigation. read more

We called ahead for the hour-long ride, bit what we liked, is that they did not rush us, or put us on restrict time constraints-a really nice ride that was well worth the $40 price. Come to find out, Rose had to get ready for her prom, but was still so accommodating and patient with us. (Name/location) The location of this place is right off the highway, and made it convenient to have a great experience. (the prices) We had done the horseback riding for $40/hr, which seemed like a great deal at the time until we didn't receive the whole hour. We had to refuse to pay for the service since we didn't get the time we were appointed before she allowed us to go around again. (The service) When we first got there, there was no training on how to ride a horse. They took 25 mins to get everyone settled onto each person's horse. We then went on a trail ride, which included a lot of ponds we had to try and navigate around to which there was some we couldn't and we got our feet wet. The ride was only 30 mins long, even though we had wanted and paid for the hour ride. The guide wasn't all that talkative, she was just taking us around with not much communication. She didn't check in to see if anyone was okay or left behind (there was someone). The scenery was decent, but the path was really rocky, and wet. At the end of the trail, the guide didn't offer to take pictures for any of us while we were on the horses, also kind of prompting us to get off the horse by walking around and assisting us. (Recommendation) Look at the time you started your trail and ensure you are being taken care of. Call to book since they do get somewhat crowded. read more

What a great experience! My sister and I did the 2-hour trail ride for 2 people and it was amazing! The horses were well-behaved, the scenery was beautiful, the guide was very helpful, and the rest of staff was very accommodating! My sister and I had never ridden horses, nor had we petted one. Also, as a San Francisco native, there aren't many opportunities to see horses up close (read: none) and Loveland Ranch was able to cater to our beginner riding status! We were even given the opportunity to feed the horses prior to our ride! Our guide was Cat who rode on Cross, I rode Gypsy, and my sister rode on Chester. All three horses were so well-behaved, save for a few competitive moments when the horses wanted to be the one up front, it was still such a wonderful experience. Cat also mentioned that she was relatively new to Loveland and had not memorized all of the trails yet, so our second hour consisted of riding in circles around the property. It wasn't that big of a deal since we still enjoyed ourselves, I only wish that our guide was able to estimate how long each trail was so that our entire trail ride felt planned for. Lastly, horses are like people--they have their own temparaments and personalities. My horse, Gypsy, absolutely did not like walking across bodies of water, no matter how small, and would often try to walk around it. I had to redirect her to walk in a straight line so that tree branches wouldn't smack me in the face. The branches weren't a big deal considering I was expecting that in a trail ride and I was also aware that horses are able to make accommodations for themselves, but not the person riding them. Gypsy didn't get hit with a branch, but I sure did. Again, not a big deal. Overall, I would absolutely recommend going to Loveland Ranch and I will definitely be coming back to bring friends and family with me! The trail rides are also very affordable! read more

My experience with loveland ranch was not good at all. I went there for a trail ride for my birthday which was 1.5 hours long. Included in this was swimming with the horses which never happened due to the unintelligent trail guide we had. We spent the first 45 minutes of our trail ride walking even though we had previously talked to them about how we have all had many years of riding experience recently, and they had told us that we would be able to do more than walking. I had to ask to trot or even lope because we would've been sitting there for 1.5 hours if I hadn't. Our trail guide was on his phone the entire time of the trail ride which was disappointing. Let alone all of that, the other horses at the facility were very skinny and underfed. Would not recommend. read more

I like this place although it's a bit far from our house. We tried the 1/2 hour self guided pony ride, which didn't really look like a pony, but it wasn't a huge horse either like some of the horses running around (saddle probably stood just under 5 feet off the ground). Very mild mannered horse. You just walk the horse around the back trails and wander around through the forest. Horse would stop a few times but he would move again if you pull a little harder. It rained the day before so the trail was muddy in places. But still walkable (wipe your shoes off before getting back into your car as the dirt really sticks to the bottom). No special gear is needed for the pony ride. Call or text before you head out so they can have the pony ready by the time you get there. Entrance is to the right of the Knights of Columbus entrance. I went on a trail ride with a couple of friends who had no riding experience, and our trail guide was the grandson of the owner I believe. He is way too immature to guide customers without an adult. He was sarcastic and condescending whenever we asked any questions. More importantly though, I wasn't happy with the safety of the operation. I have a lot of experience riding, but they didn't brief my friends at all on how to manage the horses they were riding. At one point one of my fiends got stuck on the trail and our "guide" never noticed. I could go on forever about how it wasn't professional, but my main point is the grandson shouldn't be guiding on his own. He ignored us if he wasn't bluntly being rude. If you are not an experienced rider, READ. I have mixed feelings about this place, while I enjoyed a little more freedom to trot around on the horse, the overall experience was not great. First, I have some concerns for some of the horses who basically live in the mud such as the dwarf horses. I am fully aware that stables are not the cleanest but these little horses were in mud up to their knees and there was a large pool of water with a thick bright green layer of algae growing on it. It had rained a lot this week but still, they could put down hay or something for them. All the water bins were filled with what looked like algae, not sure if that's ok enough for horses but I'm sure they would like sanitary water bins. Second, the horse named Willy, DO NOT RIDE. On a scale of 1-10, the highest being an experienced rider, I'm probably a 5 having grown up around horses in Alabama. This horse would NOT do what I tried to get it to do. That being said, I know they are animals and we can't expect them to just operate how we want all the time, but if you know this horse is stubborn and headstrong and will try to buck you off, WHY would you let a customer ride that horse. The horse stopped every 5 steps to eat and I couldn't get it to pull up to save my life. It really made me nervous every time it tried to canter because it tried to buck me off once or twice. Third, I took my husband for his birthday, he has never riden a horse. Our trail guide gave him absolutely no instruction on what to do or how to handle the horse. I had to tell him how to ride with the horse when we trotted so he wouldn't get hurt and I had to show him how to handle the horse. Thank god his horse was better tempered than mine though. Also, our trail guide never introduced himself, we didn't even know his name until halfway through the trail and he never bothered to ask ours. So, yeh, for the price and to have a little freedom to trot and canter, it was OK. However we will not return, best to stay with better trained horses for a smoother ride. read more

SO MUCH FUN! Called in the morning, and Mrs. Toni was able to accommodate us the same day (just one hour later). Upon arrival all the horses were saddled and ready to go. The guide, Mrs. Toni, really took her time with us. The trail was so much fun, we went thru water and were even able to gallop the horses! What really made the visit so special was the staff, they cared so much!! Mrs. Toni asked us questions about ourselves, took pictures of us, and let us feed the horses carrots after the ride. I went to watch a friends children run barrels at a barrel race and saw so many things that were wrong! This "Ranch" put kids and horses lives in danger in every direction you looked! People pulling the horse trailer did NOT use the correct ball for the hitch, So the trailer was NEVER hooked up driving down Hwy 45!!! I do Not want to forget the people pulling the horse trailers plus having children in the truck were drinking alcohol all day at the barrel race!!
