Loveland ranch

Very pretty ranch & family owned business. Huge acres of land to explore on a horse ride. They also offer a cute picnic horse 2 hour ride and a place for you to enjoy a couples picnic date. I wish I booked longer, I had a wonderful 1 hour horse ride today & it was my first time as well. For a first timer, I was extremely comfortable & enjoyed the horse ride so much. The 1 hour goes by really fast. It's a very lovely horse ride & you're taken around the whole ranch. It feels like you're in a forest & then you come out by some ponds & horse cattle's. I can't wait to do this again one day when I come to Texas again. I really loved this ranch & you should definitely come here if you're looking for a really good place for some horseback riding lessons or rides. Thank you for the lovely tour!

Wilk and her horse

Wilk was an amazing guide. She is very passionate about horses. She was very informed on horses and she made our ride very enjoyable and she didn't hesitate to answer any questions that we had. She let us trot with the horses a little bit, which is like running, and overall made our experience very enjoyable. 10 out of 10 pull up and ask for Wilk as your guide because she is amazing!!!!

My daughter and I had a great time at Loveland. It was just us two with our guide Hunter. Texted the contact number for information and got a fast responds. When I arrived on site it was a bit confusing to know where to go and park. Other than that it was a nice ride and would do it again.

What a great experience! My sister and I did the 2-hour trail ride for 2 people and it was amazing! The horses were well-behaved, the scenery was beautiful, the guide was very helpful, and the rest of staff was very accommodating! My sister and I had never ridden horses, nor had we petted one. Also, as a San Francisco native, there aren't many opportunities to see horses up close (read: none) and Loveland Ranch was able to cater to our beginner riding status! We were even given the opportunity to feed the horses prior to our ride! Our guide was Cat who rode on Cross, I rode Gypsy, and my sister rode on Chester. All three horses were so well-behaved, save for a few competitive moments when the horses wanted to be the one up front, it was still such a wonderful experience. Cat also mentioned that she was relatively new to Loveland and had not memorized all of the trails yet, so our second hour consisted of riding in circles around the property. It wasn't that big of a deal since we still enjoyed ourselves, I only wish that our guide was able to estimate how long each trail was so that our entire trail ride felt planned for. Lastly, horses are like people--they have their own temparaments and personalities. My horse, Gypsy, absolutely did not like walking across bodies of water, no matter how small, and would often try to walk around it. I had to redirect her to walk in a straight line so that tree branches wouldn't smack me in the face. The branches weren't a big deal considering I was expecting that in a trail ride and I was also aware that horses are able to make accommodations for themselves, but not the person riding them. Gypsy didn't get hit with a branch, but I sure did. Again, not a big deal. Overall, I would absolutely recommend going to Loveland Ranch and I will definitely be coming back to bring friends and family with me! The trail rides are also very affordable!

I like this place although it's a bit far from our house. We tried the 1/2 hour self guided pony ride, which didn't really look like a pony, but it wasn't a huge horse either like some of the horses running around (saddle probably stood just under 5 feet off the ground). Very mild mannered horse. You just walk the horse around the back trails and wander around through the forest. Horse would stop a few times but he would move again if you pull a little harder. It rained the day before so the trail was muddy in places. But still walkable (wipe your shoes off before getting back into your car as the dirt really sticks to the bottom). No special gear is needed for the pony ride. Call or text before you head out so they can have the pony ready by the time you get there. Entrance is to the right of the Knights of Columbus entrance. I attached a photo.

Terrible customer service. He was way too immature to be guiding the trail ride.

I went on a trail ride with a couple of friends who had no riding experience, and our trail guide was the grandson of the owner I believe. He is way too immature to guide customers without an adult. He was sarcastic and condescending whenever we asked any questions. More importantly though, I wasn't happy with the safety of the operation. I have a lot of experience riding, but they didn't brief my friends at all on how to manage the horses they were riding. At one point one of my fiends got stuck on the trail and our "guide" never noticed. I could go on forever about how it wasn't professional, but my main point is the grandson shouldn't be guiding on his own. He ignored us if he wasn't bluntly being rude. For the majority of the ride he was playing his game boy. One thing I did appreciate about the ranch is that it seemed like the horses were very well taken care of.

There were so many animals and horses! It was so therapeutic. The guide, he was young but bery good at what he does. It was fun! Make sure if you want to run and go fast, you don't go with a group of beginners

It was awesome. After almost chickening out, Leslie made me feel comfortable, and I completely had a wonderful time!

I have boarded two of my horses there and never had an issue. They are very knowledgeable and what they do and even hold events for all the barn members! You were able to visit the barn whenever you would like which is good to see the daily care in real time! They do a very good job at getting rid of nonsense drama that you see at most barns. I highly recommend this place!

Little did I know about this farm because I walked in off the road and never googled it. The elderly owner appears very sweet and presented as the well doing sweet grandma type. In my time here- 1 horse died,4 coliced with vet visits needed, 1gut impaction with a week of hospitalization at Waller vet , 3 severe fence pole impalements, 1 horse down for 3 days with laminitis, 2 chokes with vet tubing, horses loose in neighboring construction site from pushing down fences due to hunger and gates left open by teen grandsons and their friends who try to clean stalls. Horses are fed 1 small flake of hay 1 time a day and 1 scoop of grain 2x a day no matter what she tells you and paddocks have sand weeds so they have nothing to eat. They are starving between am/pm grain scoops and one flake. Feedings are 6 am and sometimes night is 10 pm depending on if her helper is feeding. That is 16 hours without anything to eat outdoors but weeds and sand. Herd aggression is high and horses standing idle digging paws at roots of weeds for something to eat. I can share all of this because I was out DAILY to set up feed for my 33 year old horse so the owner could just hang the buckets. I paid board and bought my own food and hay and set it up to be sure she was fed enough. I cleaned my own stall and buckets. The feed and water buckets were not once cleaned for any horse in the months I was there. Black mold stained water buckets are very telling. My sons would do a "water check" while I cleaned my stall and horses daily found without water in large buckets(dry) . Owner's son jailed for child molestation (see internet search on farm) The presenting very sweet elderly non equestrian mother of the jailed son is trying to manage farm while he's in jail and stated to me she is " on a limited income and she cannot afford to feed more hay because she has to pay her son's legal bills." She often misses the horses injuries when bringing them in from outdoors because she is just in a rush to get it done and horses have been left laying down in pasture ill or off grain without her intervention because she just throws some grain and leaves the stable to attend to grandkids and a special needs child in family. Stalls are not bedded but once a month for the boarders that show up. Many boarders are absent so they don't really see what is happening. Sharp nails, screws, sheet metal everywhere, fences being held together with hay bale string. This is a train wreck of a farm that is falling apart, it needs to close down but she is trying to keep it open for her son who won't be out of jail for years. Do not board here. Horses may look ok but under the hood of this farm there is ALOT that is awry. I watched and this is my first review ever online. I tried to speak with the owner about hay requirements for horses by size and also offered to pay for and provide the farm round bales for the pastures. I could not stand the neglect I saw each day. The response was " the horses are fine, they don't always have food in the wild". Once I was contrary to her by bringing up the needs she told me to get in my lane and if I don't like her rules to leave. As I was looking for another place I was told they were asking me to leave. I am not writing this in anger but to create an awareness so no other horses have to suffer hunger and neglect as I have seen. I feel awful for the horses I left behind because they are sweet souls whose owners are just unaware since they are trusting of the lady running it. Honestly written by a 35 year equestrian that has boarded in farms in 3 states and also ran a small boarding farm at my home for years. Never have I seen such disregard for the horses. It's just a money machine to this family. Don't be fooled as I was !! Please look around there are so many other places to board your horse. It is unsafe here.
