The ranch and ride was so much fun, being outdoors with the beautiful horses. It was my first time riding- felt nervous but excited- and the team made me feel at ease. I received a mini walkthrough on how to guide the horse to go forward, stop, and turn. My guide was Matt who made my first visit (but not last!) great - told great stories, and shared about various animal/plant activity along the trail. My health decreased badly and I had to move home 7 hours away after my 5 lung surgeries 1 complete sinus surgery all in the same year. I gave the proper notification etc. The barn manager helped me load my trailer. After I left several months later. A friend informed me that the owner accused me of stealing a bridle rack that was made out of my geldings horse shoes. The barn manager is the 1 who took it off the wall and put it in my trailer. I tried to contact the barn owner to send him a new bridle rack because I didn't want any hard feelings. He would not answer my call, text or emails. The barn owner has a bad habit of talking bad about people after they leave. Then saying they are not welcome back. I know if several other boarders he has done this to.

I didn't click as much with other stables or felt "seen" until I found NHHP. On the first phone call, Melanie + Carly were so welcoming, kind and funny! Each lesson is always a great and fun learning experience. They aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible while challenging you and helping you find that motivation from within. They are talented instructors with years of experience to help guide and mold riders to become their most successful. Even in group lessons, they take their time with EACH rider. Also, they are super quick with reaching back out in regards to booking lessons, rescheduling lessons and being flexible with your schedule. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The horses are well trained and follow each other since they already know the trail, but they still respond to commands like go and stop, and you can steer them left or right if you want. That made us feel comfortable even as first-time riders. The only area I think could be improved is having a small practice area for brand-new riders to learn the basics before heading out on the trail. Other than that, everything was amazing. We had a very delayed start, and all of the employees were showing signs of being overwhelmed, resulting in them being rude to paying customers. I overheard the younger male who's supposedly in charge talk to one of the girls that was helping him named Maddison telling her "you don't want to help okay f*ck you." She had to be no older than 14, but I minded my business I don't know their relationship. They barely touched on any rules before we started, and they had kids leading us on the trail. The kids that were leading didn't even have control of their own horses. There was a lot of water areas on the trail, and the horse that I was on called Romeo kept trying to avoid the water. I was told l'd have to try a little harder to steer him so l did, but he didn't listen a lot of the time. Almost like he isn't used to being ridden. Towards the end of the trail there was a large area of water and he ran through a small space between some trees that I could barely fit through. I was steering him away from the trees before I even got close, but the horse did it's own thing and I ended up falling off and stealing my legs against the trees. I decided I was done riding, and at the end I went to talk to one of the staff about my experience. He was very dismissive and basically said that it was my fault for not steering, even though he did not witness the situation. He didn't apologize, he was defensive and talked over me during my explanation. I didn't threaten to leave any bad reviews nor did I ask for any kind of refund. I was simply informing them so they'd be aware for future riders. Animals are not predictable and as people we know that. When I told him that I fell he said "well clearly you didn't steer." I have witnesses that were riding behind me that seen that I did what I was supposed to do. After we accepted the fact that they were just rude and bad business owners, I said forget it we're going to just call it a day and leave. The man "in charge" threatened to call the police on us if we didn't show him our receipts proving that we paid. They checked to see if everyone paid before we even started riding.He was just offended, and I honestly believe that he is scared of a lawsuit. Terrible experience and I feel bad for the young girls that have to help him run things there. They need some sort of investigation.

They loved it and talked all the way home about the horses and activities especially were impressed with riding the horse to cool off in the pond. These boys were excited to do their first ride and we were so grateful to the staff who spent much effort to insure they knew how to handle these horses. Safety was the watch word. Our escort was just great. She assisted in every way to show the mount/use of reins/dismount. Thank you so much! BTW: The area is great -- rich woods and very beautiful forests of northeast Houston area (Spring, Tx)
