Stopped in for some fresh shrimp. I could have bought some of everything in there. The fish and…read moreshrimp all looked wonderful. We decided on a couple of pounds of shrimp on sale. We took it to our house and had it for dinner. Very tasty!!

Perhaps it has something to do with the halo effect of being on vacation, but I loved Fisherman's…read moreDock. Could I have really come here three times in five days? I think I did. The first time was shrimp and mahi. The second time was shrimp, mahi, conch fritter batter, and oysters. The third time was for even more shrimp. Are you picking up on a trend? When shopping anywhere, it's clutch to go for the local options, and here it was the shrimp. The largest, local shrimp were just $10 a pound, and they were fabulous. I could eat them every day. Um... I think I pretty much did eat them every day. In part, that is thanks to the flippin' amazing cocktail sauce. Which isn't local. But that doesn't make it any less kickass amazeballs. Kelchner. Remember the name. Delightful, delightful stuff. Even if it happens to be made in Allentown, PA. They have been making it since 1938, when folks weren't fooling around with subpar ingredients. Of course, in St. Augustine we had some datil pepper hot sauce too. The staff was great. All of our questions were answered about where the fish came from. Oysters from Canada. Mahi from Central America (I forget where, maybe Honduras). I appreciated how you could order whole fish, and they would prepare them for you. That way you can inspect the gills and the eyes to pick the best one. We never called ahead to have shrimp peeled and deveined, but the fee per pound to do so felt like a pittance. Most of my shrimp consumption came in the form of boil, peel, and eat, which is good because it slows me down a bit. I shudder to think how many shrimp I would have consumed if they were all ready to shove into my shrimp hole. Without a doubt I'll be back the next time I am in town, which hopefully won't be too long.
