If you like a friendly welcome and beautifully working accommodations, this place is NOT for you! Staying at the hotel for a golf tournament next door, we arrived before 4:00 and asked to check in. After the man at the front desk looked up from his cell phone, his only response was, "We can't check anyone in until 4:00." Then he walked away. He eventually allowed us to check in at 3:55 and we dragged our things through the hallway on a broken hotel cart. (Every one of them we tried was broken.) Other notable incidents: The housekeeper took her shoe off and killed a bug against the window while I walked behind her down our hallway. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms. The sprinkler head in our room was hanging through a hole in the ceiling. Our smoke alarm was dangling from wires out of the wall. The AC was out in the Spa. They were short on towels. Bathtub is below floor level, concave and slippery. Use the grab bar! (Our 20-year-old daughter almost wiped out!) Landscaping was full of weeds, empty pots and trees that hung down, blocking the sidewalk. Walkway ramp is made of old, uneven boards. Common spaces were HOT. Dinner service and food were both seriously bad. On the upside: Our room temperature was very comfortable. Emily at the bar hustled and took care of the bar and dining room by herself. She was great. Karen, in the spa, was fantastic. Superb massage! The hotel is set on the most beautiful part of Toledo Bend Lake. Spectacular views! Everyone I heard talking was voicing similar complaints and discussing that a group who cares could really make this a fabulous destination. If you go to the lake, find a nice VRBO.

Hotel and restaurant staff was nice. The grounds are gorgeous. The sitting area behind the foyer is a great place to sit and enjoy the sunset. The groundskeeper does a fantastic job of caring for the plants. That's where the good review ends. The first hotel room stunk like urine. The second room smelled fine but had water damage in the ceiling and rust on the plumbing fixtures. It needs a complete renovation. The ac did not cool well. Beds were not comfortable. But it seemed clean.

Moldy shower grout.

The outside of this resort is beautiful and clearly where the money's been spent. Indoors is an entirely different story. Our room was dated and dirty. The hallways had a very damp smell to them and the King size bed included 4 pillows that were all in different size and pillowcase quality. Would stay here if I had time to enjoy the golf course or water activities but the spa and restaurants and pool were closed so if you want to do any of that - call ahead before you book!

Golf course and the lobby is where the money is spent. The rooms on the other hand, are old rusty and moldy. The hallways are damp and dirty. The beds are extremely firm. The place needs major renovations asap! The patio areas need major cleaning. The outside a/c unit was held on by duct tape.

First room - could not believe

Grounds were nice and receptionist was not rude. This hotel is in need of a renovation. First room had some kind of dryer with chords everywhere and a very musty smell. The second room was not much better. Water was tepidly lukewarm. It's shocking that this hotel carries any brand name. I hate to say the room wasn't clean but it felt dirty. Ice machine was broken and disgusting. I will not stay here again, and will be very cautious before I book any BW hotel.

I had the opportunity to stay at Cypress Bend BW twice recently, it has been my first stay in many years. The grounds and golf course are just as beautiful as I remember. This is the perfect resort to "get away" in Louisiana, almost doesn't feel like Louisiana. The rooms could be updated, they still have the feel and look of the original rooms. Quite possibly everything is original. I also feel the menu is over priced for the quality food served. The area is very limited on other dining options, the next option would be drive 20+ minutes. My encounter with staff members was what you would expect in small town Louisiana, very helpful and friendly. Overall I look forward to my next opportunity to visit this resort.

The main building gave me easy to read directions, but all I had to do was follow the signs on the road. It was within five minutes of the main building driving. The room was clean, and very spacious. Free internet, bigger bathroom/shower than expected, and a USB on the tv for those like me who forgot their plug.

The lobby, front desk staff and breakfast area are all great. Very friendly staff. Breakfast area is clean with a good layout and furniture. Typical continental breakfast, a lot of options, but you get what you expect in terms of generic 'scrambled eggs' and flimsy greasy bacon. Everything was in good working order though. The low star rating is because of my room. Leftover trash in various spots around my room. The bathroom was extremely dated and worn. The shower 'shelf' normally available for bar soap was missing and the scare on the wall was evident. The bar soap is the smallest soap I have ever scene. I have low expectations when staying at IHG properties these days and knew coming to this small town that is a military fueled region would likely provide low overall standards. Again, the staff was amazing, just wish they would invest in some upgrading for the rooms.

Room was hot so I wish they would have come down when I called ahead 90 minutes earlier to turn on the a/c unit. That would have been a nice touch. The bathroom was clean-ish. Clean enough for me and I'm a germophobe. Someone's open shampoo was left in the shower and they also left the Jimmy Dean Breakfast sandwiches in the freezer. No big deal. I wiped down all of the surfaces due to covid and the wipes were clean .....almost no dust. We are traveling back home to the New Orleans area after evacuating from Hurricane Ida and couldn't find a room anywhere else. This motel is off the beaten path but really amazing for the price! Bed is super comfortable....I would suggest a bit more thorough for the housekeeping but overall I still give it a high rating! The website dies say that there is breakfast available but I'm not so sure where it would be. No kitchen or dining room that I am aware of but then again......I am still giving a great rating! I do have to admit that I watch Hotel Impossible and could be a little judgmental. Yall still have my love! Thank you for making our stay on our way back to our home possible.

Keep driving past all the chain hotels/motels by the interstate and pick a place closer to the main strip of shops and restaurants. We were personally greeted by the owners upon arrival. For the first time EVER staying at a B&B, we were allowed to select our rooms from the ones available by visiting each open room. We've probably stayed at 15 B&Bs and nobody has ever let us snoop into all the open rooms (they're usually locked). The owner visited with us on the back screened-in porch for a few minutes before letting us get settled in. The rooms are all tastefully decorated in shabby chic decor with crisp white spreads and linens. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with a shower stall and basket full of fresh, white towels. The bed was SUPER comfortable and we had the best night's sleep of our entire 8-day trip. Breakfast was served promptly at 8:30 am and the owner sat down to enjoy the meal with us. We really enjoyed hearing stories and getting a bit of local culture - it's the best part of traveling. If we're ever in the area again (and we hope to be sometime soon), we'll come back to the Creole Cottage. This would be a great place for several couples to stay and have some privacy but also access to the common areas (dining room and back porch where they stock a mini-fridge with bottled water). The folks at the Creole Cottage treated us like family, and we felt like we'd walked into the pages of Southern Living magazine. Hint: be sure to try the "mayhaw" jelly - it's a local favorite and delicious! We had it on buttered biscuits along with eggs, thick cut bacon, grits, fresh fruit and hot coffee. Perfection!

By good fortune, we booked Creole Cottage on Cane river in walking distance to good food and live music. As an Innkeeper myself, I know a 5 star when I see one and this one earns every star from minute of arrival until your reluctant departure.Warm southern hospitality, immaculate and cozy quarters with a delicious breakfast each day seems to be the norm there. We loved it. The icing on the cake was the innkeeper's "tribal knowledge" of food venues and local sites. Natchitoches is a must go and Creole Cottage is a must stay!

If you go left from the security office you will be greeted by cabins up the hill followed by lodges but may be a favorite or the bungalows toward the rear. *If you decide on the bungalows and need to up pack, you can access the bungalows from a parking lot nearby, but I recommend following the signs to their beach and drive up a small hill to unload your gear then you can keep straight and park in the lot.
