We arrived at night and visibility is very low. The gps had me turn onto a golf cart sized roadway so be careful. The tv remote pictured is not the remote for the tv and the tv can't be powered or controlled manually. The batteries looked like the very first pair made, lol. The elevators were still broken. The pool was mostly the shining light. There were friendly people there. The only major hiccup was the kitchen. My son and I were the second party seated at 615p. It wasn't until we received our drinks that we were informed that the kitchen was in the process of catering for a wedding. While attempting to leave, the waitress said she'd check to see how long it would be before we could order. She then tells us we could order entrees in ten minutes but she could take an appetizer order. It's now 640p. We have not received our appetizer, and we haven't been asked our order. I then overhear our waitress receiving the full order of a party that arrived sometime after we did. I guess it helped that the party was wearing shirts associated with the golfing tournament.

Typical continental breakfast, a lot of options, but you get what you expect in terms of generic 'scrambled eggs' and flimsy greasy bacon. Everything was in good working order though. The low star rating is because of my room. Leftover trash in various spots around my room. The bathroom was extremely dated and worn. The shower 'shelf' normally available for bar soap was missing and the scare on the wall was evident. The bar soap is the smallest soap I have ever scene. I have low expectations when staying at IHG properties these days and knew coming to this small town that is a military fueled region would likely provide low overall standards. Again, the staff was amazing, just wish they would invest in some upgrading for the rooms.

The Hampton in which is 50 meters up the road who is owned by the same person does not offer CTRs the GOV rate. Just look at the Stars for the IHG vs the Hampton Inn in Leesville and you can see a clear difference. The owner needs to start taking care of his customers if he wants to keep them. Yes there are limited places to stay in SLeesville and typically CTRs typically want to keep their Hilton Honors or Marriott Points. But if you want to be treated like a customer I would recommend this IHG. Cleaner, nicer staff, and they give the GOV rate.

Room was hot so I wish they would have come down when I called ahead 90 minutes earlier to turn on the a/c unit. That would have been a nice touch. The bathroom was clean-ish. Clean enough for me and I'm a germophobe. Someone's open shampoo was left in the shower and they also left the Jimmy Dean Breakfast sandwiches in the freezer. No big deal. We are traveling back home to the New Orleans area after evacuating from Hurricane Ida and couldn't find a room anywhere else. This motel is off the beaten path but really amazing for the price! The website dies say that there is breakfast available but I'm not so sure where it would be. No kitchen or dining room that I am aware of but then again......I am still giving a great rating! We've probably stayed at 15 B&Bs and nobody has ever let us snoop into all the open rooms (they're usually locked). The owner visited with us on the back screened-in porch for a few minutes before letting us get settled in. The rooms are all tastefully decorated in shabby chic decor with crisp white spreads and linens. Each bedroom has a private bathroom with a shower stall and basket full of fresh, white towels. The bed was SUPER comfortable and we had the best night's sleep of our entire 8-day trip. Breakfast was served promptly at 8:30 am and the owner sat down to enjoy the meal with us. We really enjoyed hearing stories and getting a bit of local culture - it's the best part of traveling. If we're ever in the area again (and we hope to be sometime soon), we'll come back to the Creole Cottage. This would be a great place for several couples to stay and have some privacy but also access to the common areas (dining room and back porch where they stock a mini-fridge with bottled water). The folks at the Creole Cottage treated us like family, and we felt like we'd walked into the pages of Southern Living magazine. Hint: be sure to try the "mayhaw" jelly - it's a local favorite and delicious! We had it on buttered biscuits along with eggs, thick cut bacon, grits, fresh fruit and hot coffee. Perfection!

If you like to fish, you will have easy access to the Grand Bayou reservoir with two lighted ramps for those early days and late evenings. Grand Bayou Resort is a gem, in that it offers RV/Trailer and primitive campsites to the right once you pass the main security office. If you go left from the security office you will be greeted by cabins up the hill followed by lodges but may be a favorite or the bungalows toward the rear. *If you decide on the bungalows and need to up pack, you can access the bungalows from a parking lot nearby, but I recommend following the signs to their beach and drive up a small hill to unload your gear then you can keep straight and park in the lot. Security makes their rounds so your vehicle is safe. The staff is very friendly and will provide you with any information needed if you are not from the area. Walk around and be with nature. There is nothing like having a fresh cup of hot tea or coffee in the morning while sitting on the porch watching the sunlight dance on the waves. Almost forgot, time goes slow in these parts so if you are not going to make it to the resort by the time the office close, you will need to make arrangements because you will need a code to enter through the security gates.!!
