(For the restaurant) Quick to be seated even on a weekend. Service was so-so we had to ask for a few things multiple times. Most of our party's dinner plates came with a trip to the salad bar however they seemed to have trouble keeping it stocked and once they would restock it would be out within minutes. The food was correct when brought our and the portions we're a good size. I had the catfish plate which had like 8 pieces of fish and two hush puppies and fries. It was good, nothing to write home about though. Liked that it was on the lake so there was a nice view. read more

This is a family favorite. When we visit the grandparents, the kids make sure that we're coming here. The atmosphere is so nice with the restaurant looking over the lake. The food is just ok, but I love the salad bar, fried jalapeños and pickles. The staff is nice and everything is priced accordingly. read more

I set my expectations low prior to arriving to this lodge restaurant. We sat our family outside to enjoy the incredible lake view and ordered off the menu. The staff was friendly and attentive and wearing gloves and masks. I ordered the catfish po'boy which was on the menu with a jalapeño bun but were out so I had a regular hamburger bun. The had the tenders and catfish plater. The fried catfish was the best I have ever had. The batter was thin, crunchy and the fish was succulent and white. read more

Its a beautiful log building over looking the lake.. It has changed hands several times over the years and I have not tried it since it changed owners this last time but I want 2. The food from what i have seen on fb looks like they hired a professional cook.. It's always a nice place to go to if ur from out of town and they have cabins and I would say hotel rooms but they have kitchenettes in them i dont knownif thry all do but the one we stayed in yeats ago did and they also have a pool . I am writing for the restaurant part of Fin and Feather, not the lodging area. I have been there twice now and what we have ordered both times has been perfect. I think the staff is friendly and very helpful. Our last visit was Saturday night and there was a lot of people so the staff had some trouble keeping up with the crowd but very thing come out great and you really wasn't bother with the wait. Now the band started playing before we left and for me the music was to loud. If bands would understand loud doesn't make it better. I think this band would have been very good. read more

Wow! Just had their catfish and onion rings and they were delicious! It was fresh and there was a lot of food. We will return!

This place is great for a weekend away. Very Texas friendly. Rooms are comfortable in basic. but has everything you need. fishing is fantastic. Restaurant and bar is a great place to hang out in the evening very friendly staff they treat you like a local. Ribeye steak was cooked perfectly which is a big plus in my book. Only downside is it did not have breakfast. read more

We stayed in triplex C this past week. The cabins are in poor condition. The wall in our bathroom had major water damage and what looked like mold. The cabins were dirty. The bedding had dog hair all over it, and the furniture had multiple tears in it. One day, while we were fishing at the nearby pier, one of the employees helped themselves to cash from my wallet, which was put away in my luggage. When we confronted the management at the front desk, they said this was a problem previously, but couldn't believe that their employee would do it. They called the owner of the property and he told us that we could do whatever we needed to do, but he wasn't doing anything about it, and was standing by his employee. He didn't offer to look more into it or offer to try to make it right in any way. Just that it was our problem to deal with. We filed a report with the sheriff since they were unwilling to help us. It's a shame that they were willing to lose repeat business over this. While this was my first (and last) visit, my parents and other family members have been here many times, but are unlikely to return. I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Ate at the restaurant. Great location, beautiful view of Toledo Bend Lake. BUT...awful, poor quality food and very disorganized and poor service. We got catfish and shrimp baskets. The catfish pieces were tiny and extremely greasy. The crinkle fries were hard and also greasy. Waitress could not remember the orders, never returned for refills, etc. We had to flag another lady to get our check, which was rushed over and slapped on the table. There were only 3 tables occupied so it couldnt be blamed on a busy night. This was our second try at this place but we won't be back. It has so many possiblities but I guess the owners or managers just don't care. There is really no competition in the area so they would do so good if they would improve just a few things.. The cabins and the rest of the resort look nice. Too bad there is not a decent place to eat. read more

Great place! Great fishing! Bar and grill has decent food. My dog is welcome in my room and on the patio when we go to the grill. Office help is nice and helpful. We have enjoyed our weekend here. My only complaint is my king size bed is very uncomfortable BUT we will be back. read more

We had our third family reunion here and at arrival we learned it was under new ownership since January 2012. I must say all 5 of the cabins we booked had issues: My cabin had mold in the flooring in all of the rooms due to leaking air conditioners. My brother's cabins was over run by spiders. Some of the other issues- were dirty coffee pots, dirty floors, dead roaches and televisions not working. Needless to say this will be the last year we will book our reunion here. read more

We reserved a king bed in one of their best suites for $105.00 a night for a Friday and Saturday night. Well, we will never go back there. It was less than a class A rating. We had to go purchase some duck tape at a store 4.5 miles away so we could sleep safely. the locks on the front door was broken, and the cracks in the door frame allowed love-bugs to come inside the room. There was no drinking cups, no water cups, the towels looked like they were used to mop the floors, yuk! Please, please consider something else than the Fin & feather Resort for staying. There was a restaurant, but it was closed. On a scale of 1-10, with 10 being the best, five star, we would rate this resort a 1 at best. read more

We went to te restaurant on friday 6-8-2018 for an outing bad choice it was not good. We have been in the past several times and it was very good great food. This time it was the worst i have ever had, would not recommend to anyone. We both ordered the seafood plater when we got our order it was a shrimp platter not a seafood platter. When i said something to the waiter about it she looked at the menue took the platters back and order our seafood platters.After a short wait the waiter brought out our meals if you could call it that. The stuffed crab was not fully cooked along with the oyesters,and shrimp. Hush puppies cooked to long and we had onionrings that was cooked to long. We drove from newton to get this $40 meal. No more the last time for me will never go back and would not advise anyone else to. read more

No room at the inn. We got lost trying to find the remote campsite we were supposed to meet our friends at. After driving around in circles for 3 hours we decided to just get a room and showed up at the F&F at close to midnight Friday. The manager got up, opened the office to see if she could find us a place even though they were booked up. When they could not accommodate us, she got in her car and lead us to the campsite. We were so grateful and amazed at that high level of customer service. I know that if they treated us this well, you can imagine that the paying guests are getting great service too! read more

I stay at the motel each year while doing a job in Hemphill. The motel rooms are very very basic but clean. The TV is a 15 inch or less... that's a bummer and the beds are in need of replacement but the rest of the resort is jam up. New owners since my last visit and wow they have done a nice job cleaning it up. I finally got to eat at the restaurant/bar and the food was great. I had the grilled shrimp on a bed of wild rice, green beans, baked potato and fried pickles. It was priced right, friendly staff and a beautiful view of Toledo bend lake. I have never stayed in the cabins but have seen them and they are much nicer than the motel. I WILL stay here again and hope to get here on a fishing trip soon. The resort is spread out over 30 or more acres with cabins, lots of RV spaces, a pool with a view of the lake, huge boat launch, store, laundry also a huge convention hall, boat docks (covered) and a beautiful restaurant/bar. read more
