Stayed here in a tent site over memorial weekend. Spots were large open areas with lots of large…read moreshade trees. The sites had shaded picnic table, fire rings, and trash poles. Plenty of parking too. No eclectic at the tent sites, but water was just a short walk about in the center of the semi-circle the space were laid out around. The bath house was just down the road and a quick easy drive. Very clean with flush toilets, sink, and showers so made 'rustic' camping a bit easier. The grounds were well maintained, but did have ants (what camp sites don't?). I enjoyed walking the grounds with my pups and setting up a picnic spot to drink some wine and watch the sunset in the evenings. Lots of crickets and frogs to serenade you to sleep as well. There is a boat ramp and canoe ramp, though I didn't use them as the lake has alligators and I had a paddleboard with small dogs. So I opted to drive the short 25 minutes up to Sam Rayburn to do my water sports.

Powell Park Team,…read more I am writing to express my extreme disappointment regarding the reservation of our cabin for the 2027 Big Bass Splash tournament. As you know, our group has stayed in the same cabin at Powell Park for the last 13 years. Upon our arrival on 4/15/26 Wednesday, and multiple times throughout Thursday and Saturday, we explicitly informed you of our intent to re-rent the cabin for 2027. We even attempted to pay the full amount on Saturday but were told to return Sunday once the 2027 tournament dates were officially confirmed. However, when we went to the office on Sunday to finalize the booking, we were informed that the cabin had already been rented to someone else. It is incredibly frustrating that after 13 years of loyalty, the cabin was rented out from under us despite our repeated verbal commitments and attempt to pay. I am disappointed that no effort was made to rectify this mistake or to check with us before giving the cabin to another party. This is not the level of professional courtesy we expected after more than a decade of patronage. JK

I'm sad to say I do not think I will be back. There is absolutely no supervision anymore. I had no idea that one lady riding around on a golf cart to check up on the sites would make such a difference! The people next to us had their dog running around off-leash all night long and they were screaming, cursing, and blasting music until 1am or maybe even later. We had our dogs with us and when we would get up to take them to the restroom, out would come the neighbor dog. Since it was pitch black outside, it made our dogs pretty nervous. If you're trying to come out here to have peace and quiet, think again.
