The server was excellent and the manager (super short hair) was so welcoming and friendly. Chips and salsa. I love their chips. Salsa isn't very spicy so everyone could enjoy. They also have a green cilantro sauce that was yummy. They have lunch specials. Order: build your own plate - choice from several entrees and 2 sides $11.99 Chicken quesadilla (4/5) - 2 pieces of deliciousness, the tortilla was tender and crisp at the ends and the chicken filling and cheese ratio was perfect Chicken flautas (4/5) - 2 flautas stuff with chicken, the flautas were crisp to crunch and filled with chicken to the brim, topped with a guacamole mix Sides: Rice and garlic spinach - rice is mid, the garlic spinach was good, could use more garlic (Asians and our garlic love ) Overall, we had a nice experience. Was craving Tex-mex near my hotel and this place hit the spot. It's beautifully decorated and nice dining room setting. Has a big bar and outdoor seating too. Our server, Suly, was attentive and very friendly. A+. The food. Nothing to complain about. Fajitas are fajitas but what sets this apart are the sides. Wanted to try Tex Mex while visiting Houston. The service staff is friendly and helpful. The food was not bad, just a bit salty. Very generous portions! We chose this restaurant due to the gluten free options (our friend was able to order the spinach enchilada--but needed to make sure the sauce was changed to tomatillo instead of white sauce as the white sauce has flour from the rioux base). Went with a friend for Houston Restaurant Weeks. We're big beef fajita fans but that wasn't an option, and substitutions weren't allowed for the special menu. The only beef option was the tacos al cabrón, which were tasty but very salty. The food overall was still good, though this isn't my favorite Mexican spot. I ordered my margarita rimmed with salt, but it arrived without...it's no big deal, just worth noting. For dessert, the flan was delicious(a bit too sweet but better compared to the sopapillas), while the sopapillas were just okay. read more

This is my favorite cyclone Anayas in the Houston area. Parking can be a bit tricky as the choice is garage or street parking. But the service at this location makes it worth the trip. Went on a Sunday morning and had delicious pancakes. The ambiance here is bright and cheerful. The service was amazing as was the food. read more

Dined in for a late dinner closer to closing. We were greeted promptly and our food arrived fast. We were in and out in 40 minutes! I am going to be contacting corporate to share my experience as well as I have never encountered an experience as such. I and my friend went in yesterday which was cinco de mayo yes it was very busy and we were patient and understanding. My order was wrong, I still ate it and let it go, my waiter was not checking up on the table I asked another waiter and the manager for a second drink it never came out and I let it go we had to ask another waiter if they could bring our check as our assigned waiter just could not keep up with the volume despite us watching how often other waiters checked up on the tables beside us when our waiter came out he brought the tablet for me to pay and despite this being my first time at this location and my worse cyclone Anaya experience I still gave them a thumbs up and tipped despite a tip which is for GOOD service and that is not what I received not being warranted I guess he did not like the amount I tipped and when I said thank you MULTIPLE times he just looked at me and refused to acknowledge me as a customer. The table was under "Lexus" and I was so shocked that although my order was wrong, food was later, never got my second drink after asking multiple people multiple times I still gave something and that man refused to even thank me for being a customer and acknowledge when I thanked him for his HORRIBLE service as a waiter. I will 100% never EVER eat at Cyclone Anaya again. read more

I came here for a friend's birthday party with a group of 11 people. It's located in Rice Village so parking can be tricky depending on if you want to find a garage or street parking. We got seated in the private party room which was spacious, had a tv and side tables for gifts/cake. The server was very nice and patient with our group especially when it came to ordering and packing leftovers. We got complimentary chips and salsa which had a nice flavor to it. Everyone seemed to enjoy their drinks and entrees especially the enchiladas, fajitas and Brussels sprouts. I got the Cyclone salad with salmon which I completely devoured. The green sauce was amazing! There is a private door that leads out to a grassy lawn with a fountain & outdoor patio with lights which was a beautiful place to take group pictures. Came here with a group while in Houston for business since we all were in the mood to have some Tex Mex food. I'm glad we all came here. The food was absolutely delicious and the service was even better. Their ribeye was especially delicious. Yes, it's one of the pricier options for sure (obviously), but it's a great deal when you consider how juicy the steak was. Very friendly and quick. They have options to sit either inside or outside so there's a seat for everyone. Another note: the quesadillas are to die for too! So juicy and fresh. My only complaint was that I found the restroom to be quite unsanitary, which to me, raises concerns about the cleanliness of the kitchen and so on. However, I didn't have any problems after eating here, so who knows. read more

Overall pretty average Tex Mex with higher than average prices. Chips and salsa 5/5 honestly I'd just come here grab a margarita and eat only chips and salsa if I could. Fresh warm basket of chips with a great smoky salsa. Too bad the best thing they offer is what you get for free. Ceviche 0/5 the fish/shrimp were a wrong texture, the glass was hard to eat out of, and the taste wasn't there. Also the plantain chips it came with gave it a strange sweet after taste that didn't work. Fajitas 3/5 pretty average chicken/steak fajitas, nothing special, the rice and beans were honestly bland, and the corn tortillas came out looking sad in a foil wrapper. Service was pretty good, staff was nice and I did appreciate they gave us fresh tortillas to go when we were leaving and kept us stocked on chips and salsa. Food was pretty good here! I went for dinner with someone that is gluten free (and has to worry about cross contamination) and there were plenty of options for her to choose from. She ended up getting chicken fajitas with corn tortillas and I got the Pollo Anaya. I was looking forward to getting the Brussels sprouts listed with the dish, but when I ordered our server asked "rice and beans?" so I said yes, but apparently it's either rice and beans OR the Brussels sprouts. So I'll keep that in mind if I go again. Also, there was some sort of brown substance on the bottom of my water glass. It transferred to the napkin it was resting on because of the glass's condensation and it was gross to look at. We went on a Monday so it was pretty quiet! We were one of only two patrons. I'm not sure what it's like on other days but my friend said that it's usually much busier. First time at this restaurant at its Rice Village location. Was greeted with a warm friendly Manor by Ronnie one of the servers. He introduced us to Cindy. The server who would also be helping us. They suggested trying the lunch specials, which was flautas with Mole. We also ordered some brisket tacos. The service was excellent, and the recommendations were spot on for delicious, fresh, Tex mex food. We will certainly be back. Happy hour here is the best! We always get the chicken empanadas, which are totally bomb!! The green sauce that it comes with is equally amazing! During happy hour, they are 2 for $6, so it is definitely worth every penny! Highly recommend these empanadas!! For happy hour, we also got $1 off the top shelf margaritas, so instead of $12, we paid $11 for each of our Mardi Gras marg and the ghost strawberry marg with tajin rims!! Both were delicious and so pretty! As most Mexican restaurants, they also give free chips and salsa! I would recommend eating the chips with the green sauce though! People loveee this place so I think my expectations were a little high. I went for Friday afternoon happy hour and the happy hour is great! I got a large margarita with strawberry flavor for $10 with flavor an extra $1. 3 beef cilantro onion tacos for $6. Queso for $6. And a chicken and cheese empanada for $4. For $26 you can't beat that! I think my favorite was the tacos. Very good flavor. I prefer white queso over yellow so it wasn't my fave. The empanada was good but I wouldn't get it again. The margarita was good but not very strong and the strawberry flavor was just ok. I got beef enchiladas to go with a side of Brussels sprouts and rice. I didn't get the rice in my to go but I did like the Brussels and like that they have a real vegetable option. Tbh the enchiladas were nothing special and tasted a lot like what I could've made at home with store taco seasoning. Overall tho I did enjoy it and the happy hour is a great deal. Its Tex Mex, it's about as good as it's gonna get which is never great in my opinion. This Cyclone Anaya is parked in the north east slightly fancier side of rice village. Due to the community development around the are parking is far and few in between minus the nearby valet, but that seems a little much for a casual date night. Upon entering and being seated to our table it's a very nicely decorated and well thought out inside. There aren't excessive tables so conversation throughout the evening is never overly loud and shouting, the music is at a a good volume, lighting and vibe is pretty good. We started our meal with the ever cherished chips and salsa. Honestly the best restaurant salsa I've had. Tasted so good, felt like it was fresh, good heat, flavor and consistency. Very strong start. 10/10. We then ordered our appetizer and went with the ceviche and plantain chips. The ceviche had a light citrus flavor but was drowning in the marinade. I know it's a marinade, but it seemed like a lot with the fish and shrimp and veggies swimming in it. 4/10, would recommend try something else. For our main we went with the combo fajitas for the classic Tex Mex main. When it came out it looked pretty with the sweet crackling and sizzling platter. Next the ad-ons that go on the fajitas and the tortillas. Finally the sides of rice and refried beans. The fajita meat was beautiful. Great flavor, really nice meat, and the onions were *chefs kiss*. The ad-ons were kind of sad though, like coming from a premade kit from kroger and not having guac. The tortillas though... I don't know if it's because we ordered corn, but dang. They came out in this pathetic cylinder of tinfoil all scrunched together. Overall 7/10. The overall experience at Cyclone Anaya's was a mixed bag. You go for Tex Mex, you get Tex Mex. But for the price point they are lounging at, I would expect a little more. At the end of the day they are catering and expecting a specific community immediately surrounding the restaurant to visit, which is how it should be. I would not recommend venturing out of your way to come here, but if you live nearby, by all means. read more

We've been to this location several times for dinner in the past without issue. Tonight, however, the restaurant was in clear disarray with poor communication across the board. Drinks took nearly 45 minutes to come out despite later tables receiving one or multiple drinks prior. We ended up cutting our losses and canceling our entree orders given how excessive the wait had become without even an update from staff on the food status. The ambiance was very nice. It felt a little upscale but you can wear whatever you want. Dress up for a date or dress down for a casual meal. It was reasonably priced (jumbo margaritas are 10$ during happy hour) and the food was good. It wasn't a standout meal, but met expectations of a nice Tex-Mex establishment. The sever was really pushing the crab! Lol I turned it into a joke and we had a great time. We had a very large party and they took really good care of us. The service was great! Food: the bacon wrapped shrimp were simply amazing! The queso was really good. We had a ton of appetizers but I can't remember as it's been awhile since I was there. A few months but I remember everything being top notch. The bacon wrapped shrimp were exceptionally good! I would definitely get that again! Very big fresh tasty shrimp. I would come back if it was in the area and try more things off their menu. They have quite the menu so I need to make it a point to come back and try more food. I came with 2 friends for Friday after work happy hour (lasts till 7pm). We had a 5:45pm reservation that I made online and we were seated immediately on the patio. I'm glad we made a reservation because it seemed like a lot of tables stayed pretty long (us included). For happy hour the large margaritas are $10 and the smalls are $5. They were good, not particularly strong, but good. The food on the happy hour menu didn't catch our eye so we opted for the regular dinner menu. For food, I had the brisket quesadillas. Alone they would not have been enough, but with the free chips and salsa I was satisfied. The pieces aren't huge and it was just meat and cheese inside. The brisket was flavored well, although it was a little oily. You could see the oil on my plate and fingers after each bite. The patio ambiance is great. The restaurant is in a nice location that overlooks a courtyard. There were lots of kids playing in the courtyard while their parents enjoyed dinner and drinks. Heads up, they don't have a parking lot, so be prepared to circle around for street parking. read more

I was visiting Houston and it was suggested to come here for dinner! This location is an area with other restaurants and businesses so you have street parking and valet. Once I entered the restaurant I was promptly greeted but I decided to I sit at the bar. I ordered the Grand Gold margarita; I suggest you get the jumbo instead of the small- it's a lot more for $3. The margarita was good and strong. Then I ordered the crab nachos. Omg, they are so good; it was flavorful and it had a lot of meat! I've been to Cyclone Anaya's Rice Village several times but it's my first time to write a review. I normally come in a group setting with colleagues as this location is close by our office. Let's start with the service, Jose was our server and he went above and beyond for us. We had a large party and he was personable, spoke in English and Spanish with ease, and very professional. He gets all my kudos! I ordered the Camerones Bombas (shrimp tacos with a bit of Asian flavor) and a margarita. Both were tasty. Because it was a group of us, we made a reservation in advance. My colleague who made the reservation was charged a $200 for a gift card as a "fee" to reserve. This was new experience and after speaking to the manager Raymond, a few days before our reservation, he was a bit dismissive on my inquiry of amending the fee. I sent an e-mail and Mr. Jim Smith was responsive, kind, and offered an accommodation. He also placed a call to my colleague--a nice touch. In the end, things were made right but still not a fan of essentially charging for a gift card versus a hold like a lot of other establishments. read more

Actually really enjoyed the empanadas in this one they're appetizers for their specials during happy hour we're good the empanadas were something that are mentionable however I would say if you're going to get a couple different ones make sure you have quite a bit of an appetite they're quite big and they're shareable great for dates again we hung out at the bar had some drinks really a wonderful time. read more
