I would recommend this " cycling" studio to anybody .... First off, it's owned by a Black woman who is also a Spelman Sister from the #1 HBCU. Her facilitation was phenomenal and driven . She illustrated patience for beginners and also encouraged you to push . I was surprised that I kept up with the routine . Her staff also illustrated pleasant customer service and engage in the cycling class . I will warn you, parking can be challenging but you are able to find parking nearby if the parking lot is full . The location is active but yet safe . I can't wait to connect again and hopefully come out to a second class . read more

I obviously enjoy this authentic and down to earth cycling studio. Think Soulcycle but much more accessible and diverse. A place that fees local and authentic (unlike some of the big national or international chains. Can't recommend enough. read more

Staff is lovely ! Love the modifications offered and community based approach! Love going to the Barre classes when I can as well.

I have been a member of Cycled since 2019. It feels more like a community than just a place to get a good workout. All of the instructors bring positive energy and great music to pump you up even if you come to class feeling a bit tired. I appreciate that they offer both early morning classes like 6:00 am or evening classes after the work hour. They also have fun group competitions so that people who otherwise might not know each other, start to work as a team. I love Cycled, the people who make it what it is, and Shayla is an inspiration to me- running a great business. read more

Cycled! is a black owned boutique cycling studio. It's easy to find and there's always parking space around this location. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. I really do love cycling here, I just wish they had more fans. As of now there's 1 giant fan but you can barely feel it if you're not sitting in a bike near it. It gets really hot really fast in the small studio and the heat can sometimes be overwhelming. My favorite classes are Hip Hop Thursday's with Schuyler and Saturday mornings with Will. Regardless of what day I go, or if there's a sub (which doesn't happen often), I know I'm always going to get a great workout. read more

This community is so much fun and you really become friends with everyone! The instructors all have their own personalities with each ride and you become challenged by each person! Keep going because it'll work you well but it takes time! I feel stronger and have hit PRs that I never expected because of the encouragement! read more

I had amazing time at Cycled Takoma Park. The Nicki night with Shayla was so much fun and her energy kept the entire class motivated. She really pushes you to reach your highest potential! I will definitely return for more classes. read more

Great cycling studio for all fitness levels! I've done classes with Mike and Adrienne and they're both amazing - super encouraging while pushing you to work as hard as you can. You can clip in if you have cycling shoes, but otherwise you just strap in your sneakers. The crowd is super diverse and has great energy, and the music is great. Like a lot of cycling classes, the music does get quite loud, so I like to wear concert earplugs. Definitely worth taking a class, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro! read more

I showed up at 12:01 for a cycle class and the doors were already locked. I was really looking forward to it and was only a minute late. I called the phone and no one picked up read more

Today was my very first cycling class. I was a little intimidated when I first walked in. But, the atmosphere of the class was very encouraging as well as high energy in a positive way. I kept wanting to stop but I just pushed through until the end and surprised myself. I had been to the Starbucks next door many times but never paid attention to the Studio. This weekend after leaving with my coffee I saw two women standing waiting to go in and they encouraged me to come to one class. I had been looking for a class of some sort close to my house that I could join. Just finished my first class and feel pretty good right now. Let's see what tomorrow morning feels like. Nevertheless, regardless of how I feel in the morning I plan on pushing through any aches and joining as a regular member. Two of my colleagues plan on joining me after I gave them my review. Very clean and a well kept facility. I encourage anyone to try it. read more

I had an awesome workout in the outdoor space that Cycled Takoma Park created last evening. The class was packed with challenging bursts, energizing tunes and a really motivating instructor. Distancing and sanitizing protocols honored while maintaining a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommend!! read more

Really enjoyed my first class here (the classic 45 min cycling class)! The instructor Isma was very friendly and really pushed us to make the class challenging. I felt the burn! She helped me set up my bike before which was super helpful as a first-timer. Would def come back here again for a tough and rewarding cardio class. read more

It is so great to know that there is a black owned cycling studio in this area. My friend Adrienne used to work here. Cycled Takoma is clean, bright, new, and expanding. The staff is professional, friendly, and courteous. I bought my mom a class for the Silver Spring location and she thoroughly enjoyed it. I am excited to try a class at Takoma, conveniently located close to Busboys and Poets, Mark's Cafe and other institutions. read more

Had a great first class last night! Good energy, nice mix of new and veteran cyclists. 45 minutes went by quickly.

Went to my first spin class at cycled! this past weekend. Genuinely enjoyed the class and instructor. Parking and check-in were very easy and staff were very welcoming. Will go again. read more

Excellent class and instructor. The studio is small which is a plus as it provides for a more intimate session. I can honestly say this was the best spin class I've ever taken. read more

This studio is the bomb!! Excellent experience with expert instructors. They've been doing outdoor sessions regularly during COVID and I believe they have developed an app experience as well. If you want a great workout, definitely holla at these folks!! read more

Absolutely LOVE that we can continue classes outdoors now. It's definitely not been easy not being able to workout the way that we are use to. That's why I am so thankful for the people of CYCLED! for providing us a sense of normalcy. I love that we can still continue to come together as a community and workout. The classes are so awesome and it's great to be able to see all of the instructors and fellow riding partners! Thank you so much for this CYCLED! read more

I am new to cycling and decided to try out Cycled! based on its convenient location and great reviews. I was not disappointed! The front desk manager showed me around and helped me set up my bike, and the instructor's guidance was clear and encouraging. I didn't feel judged for being a beginner, and I got a great workout as well. Will definitely go again! read more

I signed up for a two week trial membership fully expecting to fail once again at picking up an exercise habit. It's been ten months and about 150 classes and I haven't failed yet! Some highlights: * There's a $15 fee if you cancel less than twelve hours before class. This seems like a drawback at first glance but it's been so, so helpful in keeping me from flaking out on classes. * Lots of variety in terms of workout intensity and music choices so you can pick and choose your favorite instructors if you've got the flexibility. There's also a few yoga and barre classes every week if you want to mix things up. * You get your stats emailed to you after every class so if you're a big dork like me you can plot your progress. * The owner has a tiny, adorable dog who is there at least once a week. * Most months there's some kind of challenge, like last month's "12 Days of Christmas" aka "12 Classes in 12 Days" challenge, which I find very helpful in keeping me motivated. You never know what kind of exercise is going to be right for you but I definitely recommend giving Cycled a shot. read more

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of participating in one of the outdoor classes, and it was tough but I enjoyed every second of it. The location is nice and the instructor/staff were kind and encouraging. I would definitely recommend anyone participate in their classes. I know I will definitely be back! read more

First time doing a spin class, and had a great time! Staff were so helpful in helping me, and re-filling my water when I needed it. Will be back soon! read more

Love the people, the rides and the adjust to COVID. The staff is so friendly and positive. Oh, and you work hard too!

I thoroughly enjoyed my first cycling class at Cycled. Upon arrival I was treated to a tour of the facility and I was offered assistance with setting up my bike. My cycling instructor was great. The best part of the class was the music. From the first song until the last one I was bopping and riding to the beat. read more

The people here are an absolute gift! So thankful for this little bit of normal. Don't mind the haters talking about loud music. The folks running cycled are incredibly conscientious to the community and their patrons. If you're looking for a fun and SAFE workout, you found it here read more

My first class at CYCLED! but won't be my last. Sonya was super kind to this cycling newbie. She led a fantastic class that was fun, instructive, and supportive - with great music. You work at your own level, and feel encouraged all the way. Thanks! read more

Highly recommend! I've been going to classes here for a few months and haven't been to one I didn't like yet. The classes are the right mix of upbeat without overbearing, the instructors are fantastic - fun and encouraging while also observant of form and how everyone is doing. Goes the same for the barre and strength classes I've attended, challenging but I always leave the studio smiling afterwards. read more

I just moved to town and was looking to get back into spinning. This studio is convenient and the staff is super friendly. My first time there the instructor took the time to make sure the bike was set up to fit me well and I was off. I'm really enjoying the early morning classes - it's a great way to start the day. The instructors are encouraging and motivating. I can sign up for classes through ClassPass. This is going to be my go-to studio! read more

If you truly know me, then you know there are few to no reasons why I would ever give less than 5 stars to a spin studio. I was an avid spinner for years, but I fell off track for a while. Coming here reignited my love and passion for spin. Mel, the instructor, was great! She had great energy and was personable. The workout was fun and intense! We were all in there panting like dogs. The studio itself is really small. You will be an arm's length away from the person(s) next to you, but the good thing is you feel like one big team. When you feel like giving up, you get a boost of energy from the people surrounding you. The bikes are modern and track your stats. At the end of class, your stats are displayed on the flat screen TVs at the front of the room. Your name will be displayed on the screen next to your stats, so don't be a slacker! They send a copy of your stats to your email. Kudos to CYCLED! for doing a charity ride! It was a great chance to give school supplies to the less fortunate. Glad to see they are willing to give back to the community. I absolutely recommend giving this place a try! read more

I took my first cycled! class with Tamera and it was awesome! She guided the class on and off the bike and really encouraged me to challenge myself. I really enjoyed her leadership-style. There was a neat section of class where we used weights for toning arms and shoulders which was an added plus. This place was easy to locate and find parking which is another plus in the DMV area. The only thing I would change is the playlist. There were some good songs, and then there were a few outdated songs that aren't really inspiring anymore after they'd been played a million times during their peak. Looking forward to booking my next class. read more

Just want to say everyone at CYCLED! was super nice and friendly! However, my disappointment was that the studio is TINY, you are so close to your neighbors, and this is nothing like Flywheel/Zengo/Soul Cycle. I did really enjoy their bikes, but the room is light and open, and you can hear the ladies in the front desk talking during your class. Additionally, the instructor was just changing the music from her ipod, which at times wasnt working, so we would spin for a minute in silence while she tried to pick another song. It was odd. The class was full and it seems like the Takoma Park crowd is a fan of Cycled, it's just not my cup of tea! Oh, and they didnt have a water fountain to fill your water bottle, which I thought was annoying. read more

Great studio that is a welcome addition to the Takoma Park neighborhood! Took my first spin class here last Wednesday evening with Brandi (who was subbing for the regular instructor Shawn). I had a good experience overall (although the pace and intensity of the class was really challenging for me as a beginner...but in a good way) and I will definitely be back for more -- especially the discounted morning rides. The ride room is a very small but well utilized space with state-of-the-art spin bikes. The rest of the studio consists of two bathrooms (one of which has a shower) and some non-locking cubbies in the back. Front desk staff is nice and welcoming. There is some Cycled-branded workout gear hanging on the wall for purchase. And that's it -- it's a pretty "no frills" kind of place, but it gets the job done. Towels are provided, but you should bring your own water (note: there's no water cooler or fountain available) and your own fitness tracker if you want accurate workout stats. Parking is limited so take the metro to Takoma, if you can. ETA: After attending a few additional classes at Cycled, I brought to the owner's (Shayla's) attention that some instructors' rap/hip-hop playlists included songs that used the N-word. The owner and I agreed that that word is highly offensive and entirely unnecessary for a spin class playlist. I really appreciate Shayla graciously receiving my feedback and taking the necessary steps to ensure that instructors vet their songs and avoid such offensive language in the future. I am very pleased at the way the situation was handled, and I look forward to further classes at the Cycled. read more

CYCLED! Takoma Park - Cycling Classes Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

I started using Classpass a few months ago and came upon this amazing studio by chance. It has a great location (a parking lot in front with...FREE PARKING) and amazing instructors. I've been hooked on Will's Sunday afternoon classes. They are great for beginners but also a class that really pushed advanced people (he's always pushing you to improve your form and push harder). This is the only studio where I actually enjoy "dancing on my bike"...it's just cheesy other places. I always get a great work out here and then can treat myself at the local farmers market afterwards! read more

I am stoked that a spin studio opened walking distance from my apartment in Takoma. I purchased the VIP Unlimited package in hopes that it would motivate me to get out of bed early on cold dreary winter mornings and get in a good workout before starting the workday. Hopefully, this strategy will work for me long-term. The studio is small but clean and well-organized. There are cubbies to store your belongings during class. Booking classes online is easy, and you can even select your bike ahead of time. Speaking of the bikes, there are 18 brand new Keiser spin bikes in the studio and I am astounded by how quiet they are. You can barely hear the flywheels moving. All the better to hear the awesome music. This morning we worked out to a playlist consisting entirely of Rihanna songs. I'm glad to know that if I have to get up at 5:30am to work out, at least the instructors and I have similar taste in music. There is a leaderboard that tracks your stats -- so far they have only shown it at the beginning and end of class. You can assign yourself a nickname or opt out of the leaderboard altogether. You will need a Polar H7 heart rate monitor if you want to track your heart rate and more accurate calorie-burning stats. Towels are provided. BYO water bottle. read more

I'm halfway through my first 20 classes (at the 50% off beginner's rate)--a great deal. It is a supportive workout environment where everyone is friendly and helpful. Definitely "shop around" with the instructors--they all have very different styles. Some use hand weights, some don't. Some encourage you to go at your own pace, some push everyone beyond the max. If you aren't a fan of your first class and have time in your schedule to try a different instructor, I recommend it. Some classes have the same folks there each time--nice to see the instructors know everyone's names and introduce themselves to new people. Because classes are small, I've never felt overcrowded or had to wait for a bathroom to be available. As for refilling your water bottle (mentioned in other reviews), I refill mine in the bathroom sink! Another feature I like is the actual digital numbers for resistance on the bikes--at other studios I've simply had to guess when turning the dial. I am looking forward to the barre studio opening upstairs soon and I hope they have a similar "beginners" deal. This is a great spot by the metro and feels like a community. I do wish I knew in advance whether a class was including hand weights or not. I've only had a couple with weights. But again, that seems to depend on the instructor. I also wish there were even more rides on the schedule! Like in the afternoons on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In general the classes here tend to be on the earlier side. But they have been adding some interesting options, like 8pm Friday night rides and hour-long rides that incorporate ab work. read more

I will start by saying that I used to live in Takoma Park before moving to Philadelphia and being away from DC for 6 years. I now live in the Shaw/Mt. Vernon area of NW and can walk to Soul Cycle and Flywheel, but I chose to try Cycled based on the reviews and their followers on Instagram. I had my first class on Monday evening and trust me when I say the people did not lie in those reviews. They made me feel welcome. It is a very supportive environment and no one made me feel like I did not belong there. I am definitely going to another class. My only issue (and this is a personal problem) is I need butt pads for that bike seat! It is Wednesday and my backside is still on fire. LOL! read more

Took a class with Mel on Tuesday night! It was my first spin class and it was awesome! Music was hype... the ride was challenging... And Mel kept us engaged throughout the ride. I really like the bikes and, after, they give us our stats! I'm looking forward to the next ride soon! read more

On Sunday, I took my first class at CYCLED! and returned on Wednesday for another. I used to teach at a different studio in Capitol Hill and just moved to the neighborhood; from the front desk staff, to the instructors, everyone I have met at CYCLED! has been so kind and helpful and I already feel like this will be my go-to spinning studio! Looking forward to returning for another sweat sesh soon! read more
