SoulCycle is one of the cycling studios that I continue to go back to. I first went to SoulCycle while living in West Hollywood. I enjoyed the atmosphere and especially the fact that I could do my workout and they offered showers and a locker room. Whenever I went to Las Vegas, I'd also go to the studio right on the strip. I'd joke, I was one of the few insane people waking up to do a spin class while in Vegas. Guess it was true, since that studio closed after just a few years! In DC, I appreciate the studio is here. It's right at 14th and U, which is a convenient location for me. The staff is friendly, and I like the larger locker rooms with showers. Overall, it's a good workout that helps mix up my routine in a convenient location in DC. I miss my West Hollywood studio, but I'm just glad DC continues to have a branch. read more

Today was my first visit to Soul Cycle. The 14th St location and Ashleigh's class were a great intro to this business. When I entered the studio, I was greeted immediately and checked in. Since I was a first timer, I got all of the "1st time visitor" things, including a cute welcome on a reserved locker. The studio, including the bathroom, was clean and smelled great without being overpowering. I loved the theme of the class I took and the energy from the Soul Cycle crew and the instructor was lively and welcoming! My shoes, with Delta clips, fit their bikes and the bikes were easy enough to set up. Plus, the crew (and my bike neighbors) provided assistance. During the end of one class and the start of another, the lobby area can get a bit tight with all of the people but it's not a deal-breaker. I will definitely be back soon!! read more

Came to this class with Christopher as the instructor and I'll never return. He was extremely disrespectful, condescending, and borderline verbally abusing riders during the class. One of the girls couldn't keep up with the speed and resistance he expected and decided it was best to call her out publicly during the class. I felt extremely embarrassed for her and could tell she felt uncomfortable. Not once did he apologize or justify why he spoke to her the way that he did. After the class I did some research and realized he's known for this type of behavior and many other riders have experienced similar scenarios. Either Soul Cycle doesn't care how he treats others or they choose to ignore it. Regardless I'll never return and continue to push anyone I know away from participating in any classes associated with Soul Cycle or that disgusting human being known as "Chris" read more

Very rude staff. Me and my friends felt very uncomfortable from the second we walked in. From the attitude, to the eye rolls, to the making us feel inferior because of us using class pass. You can see the staff mumbling and making eye movements towards us. Very disappointed. read more

SoulCycle 14th - Cycling Classes Near Me - Washington, DC, District of Columbia

This review is mainly for Sean/Shawn's, at the front desk, stellar customer service, unfortunately I did not get how to spell his name. He was very kind and welcoming, and flexible. He helped me get in a class last minute after we were having trouble finding my account. I have been doing spin for a few years and have been to almost every studio you can think of, Cyclebar, Cycled, Zengo and other SoulCycle locations. SoulCycle is my least favorite because I have had bad experiences at other studios with just rudeness and/or seeing staff being rude or borderline bullying/embarrassing new riders. I also feel I have gotten great workouts from all studios I've been too, so why pay a premium price when I can the same workout for a little less. I had never been to this location however, and it is quite close to where I live. The staff was great, especially Shaw,/Sean as I mentioned, the studio itself was very clean and workout was good. I will be back, which I never thought I would say about SoulCycle. I am really thankful for the team at this location. read more

I've written a similar review for the nearby SoulCycle Mount Vernon, but I'll say it again - Cher's class is amazing! You must try one of her classes if you haven't already. When I'm Cher's class, everyone is having such a good time and the 45 minutes fly by. I'm always so sad when class is over because I don't want it to end! I'm proud to say that since taking Cher's classes, I've finally been able to keep up with the fast pace. I even feel comfortable now that I've made the move up the 2nd row! The classes are so fun and uplifting, and I always leave in a better mood than I came in. SoulCycle 14th is situated on a busy corner with lots of traffic and people around. However, it's so refreshing to leave the busy, loud streets of DC and enter the aromatic, positivity-filled SoulCycle 14th St! You leave any and all distractions at the door, and you get such an exhilarating feeling when you step into the dark studio, excited to have a fun challenging spin workout! The staff at the front desk is always super helpful and friendly in my experience. They help to provide a positive, inclusive SoulCycle community! In terms of the facilities, there's a spacious common locker area and separate men's and women's restrooms with showers and toilets. The restrooms come complete with towels, hair dryers, razors, face wash etc. I love coming to SoulCycle when I can to switch up my usual gym class workouts. Did a Soul Survivor 60 min class on Sunday and what a crappy experience. Not a newbie to SoulCycle since this is my 77th class but this was my first time at this location. Class started late. Bike was excessively wet so that was very gross. Arms workout was cut short. Oh and the best part - got charged $7 for no reason on my credit card. Just took a class with Shaynna, and it was the best SoulCycle, and best overall spin class I've ever taken. Shaynna made everyone feel welcome, and met everyone at whatever level they were at. For newcomers, she made sure they knew how to clip into their bikes, proper cues for exercising, and that they don't have to keep up to be successful. For the seasoned riders she pushed them hard and made sure everyone had proper form. Really exceptional class and I highly recommend Shaynna as your instructor. read more

Took a class here recently for the first time in 3 years. I appreciate the clean and well kept facility, and the pleasant front desk staff. Instructor though ruined the experience, by calling me out with a high-five and a request for me to increase my resistance, halfway through the class. I was the only one who got this "treatment". I was a little humiliating and unnecessary and the whole experience reminded me why investing in a Peloton and ditching Soul Cycle a few years ago was a wise decision. read more

Before visiting this SoulCycle I have never been to a spin class. I actually hate riding a bike, but I have heard some many good things about spin classes and SoulCycle that I thought I'd give it a go. I was on vacation and thought it would be a great way to have some "me" time and a good way to work off those calories I ate the night before. Your first class is $20 or $25 bucks. Your shoe rental is free for your first time but it's $3 after that. I don't know how much those shoes costs but I can imagine that if you're invested in this program you'd probably at some point buy your own shoes. It's always intimidating going to a gym facility for the first time. People slightly judging you for not knowing what you're doing. I didn't get that here. I was helped immediately, given a quick walkthrough and I was helped the entire time. The pressure was off and I could enjoy my workout. The locker area was large and had USB charging ports for your devices. The locker rooms were spacious and most importantly- clean. Inside the studio was this zen like experience. They help you snap into your shoes to the bike, set up the seat and handle bars and you're kind of on your way. What I like is that you go at your own pace, but you don't want to be last in line. It's truly a competition with yourself. The workout is simple but difficult at the same time. The entire time you're sweating out not on calories but life toxins too- if that makes sense. They make a focus of the workout on you; getting out that negative energy that holds us (you/me) back. I loved the entire experience. Not many times (well ever) have I wanted a workout not to end. I was sore, but validated to. I made it. I can't wait to try SoulCycle again. I felt like a new man once I had finished. While it's expensive, I see what draws people in and keeps them motivated to staying on track. I'm a big fan. read more

This was where I "found my soul", so to speak. My first ever SoulCycle class was here at the 14th Street location and it was seamless experience. I went to a 7:30 pm class after work in the middle of the week with a few girlfriends. We drove in from Arlington (which is where my office is) and it was a pretty simple 15-20 minute drive, which isn't bad considering rush hour traffic and all the stoplights in DC. This studio is located RIGHT on the corner of 14th & U (conveniently right across the street from the delicious Tico). My go-to move is to turn left onto U St (passing SoulCycle on my right) and there is usually street parking on the right hand side. If you can't find parking on that street, there is conveniently a garage right there! FIRST TIME RIDERS: 1. Come early to sign your waiver and get your shoes/get situated. 2. You can charge your phone in the locker so bring your USB and switch your phone in Airplane Mode during class if you're low on battery (a full 45 minute charge should do the trick)! 3. Wear normal workout clothes, no need to bring a towel as they provide them each class. 4. Locker situation: Turn the dial to the 4-digit number code you like, turn the knob to lock it up, then move the numbers around to not have your code show up (no one will steal your things anyway - the SoulCycle culture is amazing). 5. Shower situation: They have towels, shampoo, facewash, and conditioner there. Unless you are picky about using your own, they provide everything. I bring my own shower shoes though (trusty Haviana flip flops). They also provide blow dryers, tampons, hair ties, Qtips, literally whatever you need. #FindYourSoul, y'all. It's amazing. read more

My daughter and her friend took a class with Christopher this evening. My daughter had had foot surgery and her foot was going numb a little bit, then started to hurt, so she took it a bit easy. Immediately Christopher calls her out in front of the entire class, which goes against the Soul Cycle mission of everyone taking things at their own pace. It's literally written on the wall in the classroom - perhaps Christopher doesn't know how to read? He clearly lacks compassion, professionalism, and respect. My daughter was so upset at being repeatedly called out that she left the class. As she was leaving, Christopher decided to turn on the lights and ask, "is there a problem here?" Yes, Christopher, there's a problem - you're an egomaniac who should not be humiliating 18 year old girls. read more

I drank the kool-aid. For years, I've been wanting to try SoulCycle and I think I'm hooked. At first, I wasn't sure if it would be a good fit for me. It always seemed like some kind of exclusive club reserved for girls in tights and top buns. While there is certainly your fair share of that, the environment is welcoming and diverse. Everything was pretty seamless - I was upfront and let the front desk know that it was my first time and they were helpful. I was able to get a locker and find my bike. There was also someone who walked around that helped first-timers get their bike set up and working. The only issue I had was getting off my bike at the end of the class, so when everyone was stretching, I was still perched on my bike trying to yank my foot off the pedal. My legs felt like noodles afterward. I walked out in a half-wobble and what little makeup I had on that morning had melted down my face. Even though I probably looked scary, I felt glorious and I look forward to going back. read more

Finally got around to trying soul cycle!!!! After going to the Mount Vernon location and the representative was so snippy!!! Facility was clean, bright and, fun! Organic and top notch toiletries, this is something I look for when I visit boutique fitness studio's. The music was on point! The energy of the instructor was awesome!!!!! Low key I started going to this location because I heard this is Michelle Obama's preferred studio. Still haven't seen her yet. The studio is super clean, when I wear the shoes I don't feel like I'm going to get some sort of fungus. And the lockers have a charger for your phone which is nice. If you are new to soulcycle just go ahead and let them adjust the bike for you because it's like rocket science the first time. They have a good variety of music. Someone tells you are worth it. Everyone is feeling themselves. You do a little arm workout. You sweat your hair out. You come out looking like a swamp monster. But you feel awesome and ready to take on the world. Eek. What do I say? My friend, Kavonna, was ranting and raving about a Soul instructor, Cher. I went to Soul without any expectations. Gosh! I'm in love. Soul is amazing. Cher is even better. During the ride, I was completely lost in my thoughts. I didn't know whether to push harder or reflect on my life. The only thing I could do is get lost in the rhythm. The room was dark. The music was bumping. The playlist was amazing. The experience. Ah, the experience. The experience gave me life. At the end, I felt like I went to church. Completely disconnected from my worries. Here's the kicker. I'm a instructor, too. As a instructor, it's easy to think your studio is better. Your bikes are better. Your cues are better. Something was different about Cher's class. She, and only she, made me want to purchase a Soul package. Mind you, I have a gym membership (and pay for it). Give Soul and Cher a chance. Do it. Be a part of the pack. I kind of wished they played more Future and Young Thug instead of Ellie Goulding, but I had a good workout. They push you really hard. Afterwards, I felt like I just aced an exam in swagonometry. BUT it's $30 for a class. I can go for a hard run on a hilly route, starting from my doorstep, and after 90 minutes I can get in an even harder workout for free without having to drive anywhere. Plus all the ladies honk at me when I take my shirt off. Try getting those compliments inside some cycling studio. I guess the upscale clientele is too yo-cool to do that (go on a run), but I wish those transplants knew about how different this neighborhood used to be, before all the trendy restaurants, bars, sky-high rents. read more

It's also so convenient to Trader Joe's and Lululemon, which both definitely have a lot of crossover with SOUL. I finally went to my first soulcycle and I can see why people are hooked. There's so much energy in the room and I loved riding with the lights turned off. We weren't in the saddle much, which I love. I hate classes where there is a lot of sitting. I wasn't sure how I'd feel with so many bikes in one room, but I actually liked it. The choreography was hard to do, but I'm uncoordinated to begin with, so I wasn't surprised. By the end though, I had picked up how to do it. I liked the weight part we did at the end; I like a mix of cardio and weights. They will also help you set up your bike, but I have no idea how they set it, so it's not really helpful for future rides. The staff cleans the room after eat class, which is nice. So why did I give it 4 stars? I thought the customer service has room for improvement. Being my first class I really didn't know what to do and when I went to the front counter to sign in, no one really acknowledged me and I had to tell them it was my first time. read more

If I had the money, I'd go to SoulCycle all the time. It's a super fun workout and I sweat 10x more in there than my normal gym spin class (though, see cons list). Pros: -great energy, playlists, and instructors (I've taken Lance, Rachel, and Sunny Mae - would recommend them all) -good schedule with wide availability -very clean -front desk staff is awesome -It's really fun, especially with theme rides. Cons: -the "locker room area" (hallway) is super small and gets really crowded when one class is coming out and another is waiting to be let in while the studio is being cleaned -it is hotter than Hades in that studio for the first 20ish mins of ever class (til they turn on the fans). I know it makes you sweat, but there are times when it's borderline uncomfortable. -it's expensive. $30 for a class, $3 for shoes. I've been lucky enough to lock in some promos but it's too expensive (on top of my gym membership) for a regular basis. Bottom line: I'll stick with my gym spin for regular rides, but there IS a big difference between those and SC and it's worth it if you can afford it. Otherwise, I'll keep my eye on the theme rides (next time they do Hamilton I'm all over it). read more

Space is clean and location is convenient. Employees have a cold friendliness you get from mean girls. It might have been the speakers but I could barely understand anything the instructor was saying and had a very difficult time following his instruction because of it. He danced more than led the class and when I tried earnestly when he was off the bike dancing to get his attention to help me with my dropped towel, he ignored me.... I literally waved him down and stopped my spinning to reach out and try to grab his shoulder which I touched and yet he still ignored me. Ive taken spin for over a year at Zengo Logan and just wanted to try something new. Definitely will stick with ZENGO. Not only are the staff and instructors friendly and attentive, they really motivate you to push yourself by instructing the class WHILE RIDING WITH YOU 90% of the time. And they teach a crap ton of classes a dau. If I'm paying $30+ for a class, I at least expect attentiveness from an instructor. Or maybe this location is ok mediocrity. read more

The location is lovely but the instructors are so-so. I'm surprised there is not more oversight on the quality of the classes. Some instructors spend a lot of time looking at the computer and not focused on class. Always beware when a teacher has taught more then once a day. read more

Was I at a karaoke bar or Soul Cycle class?...unfortunately I couldn't tell. This morning's instructor (chris p.) sang the entire class (which could maybe be fine for a happy hour ride... but not for an early AM class. He also screamed "yeeaaa!" every... 5 seconds? I can still hear it in my head - it was beyond annoying. I go to soul cycle 1-2x a week in Boston and have been a bunch in NYC - this is not normal instructor behavior. and that's the great difference between soul cycle instructors and other studios - the instructors aren't usually annoying - yet stoic, cool, and inspiring. If this instructor stopped those two things he would be better. But my first (and last) experience at this studio was pretty miz as a result. read more

Yes, there are obvious cons to SoulCycle: 1). It's overpriced, 2). the woo-woo spirituality of it can sometimes grate, 3). the front-row OCD crowd is as bad as that Kimmy Schmidt episode suggests. I still really like it -- it's a hugely efficient, reasonably short, hard workout. I don't find it as fun as the people in the classes who cry out constantly (who are they fooling?), but feel great afterward, and if you're doing any sort of training (marathon, triathlon) it's a perfect supplement. My only real complaint is that the music, and the instructors mics, are sometimes way too loud. I used to go to NY SCs pretty regularly, and they were loud and energetic, but didn't blow out my ears. These classes sometimes do, and a few of the instructors (worst offenders: Chris Pepe, Sunny Mae) can practically SCREAM during the workouts. One morning, an hour later at work, my ears were still ringing. I suspect it's the sound system and not the instructors -- but still. I'm already bringing in my own shoes and water -- do I need to bring earplugs, too? read more

Love all of the instructors at the 14th street location - I never thought I'd be the kind of person who looks forward to working out, but I get so pumped for all of my classes at Soul. Pauline is an incredible instructor. I've been to two of her classes and she channels all the energy in the room. She makes the work out into the experience and forces you to leave your day behind. While pricey, these classes are like therapy and an fantastic work out. read more

Today was my first Soul Cycle class and it was better than I expected. Even before I arrived it was a very pleasant experience, I spoke with Sarah via phone and she happily recommended the best location in the room for first-timers. Upon arriving the staff was very helpful and one of the staff members helped adjust my bike and get me locked in. Also, the instructor, Megan, came and introduced herself to me. All these things may seem minor, but it certainly made for a very welcoming atmosphere. As far as the class goes, it was really enjoyable. GREAT music. When Kanye's new song played, it had me thinking I'd be in "Teyana Taylor" shape in no time. I was able to totally get in to my zone with Beyonce's Lemonade. Not to mention, Megan was very encouraging! While I was initially hesitant to try it out because of the expense, I'm glad I did try it. It's totally worth it and I can see myself supplementing my gym workout with SC classes. read more

I attended a class at this location when I was in town for the Women's March. Lorenzo was THE BEST spin instructor I've ever had. If I could marry him, take a class with him every day and have a body like his, I would do all of those things.
