    Bouldering Wall

Love this bouldering gym and their affinity nights! The staff is super nice and they have fun walls. It's a big gym with 2 different climbing areas, a yoga studio, multiple restrooms, and I like that it also includes a weightlifting area with gym equipment. The downside is that the gym area is missing a mirror. I also appreciate that the women's bathrooms are stocked with sanitary products. A suggestion would be to also add some hair ties in case people forget them!

We came here for a kiddo birthday party and it was GREAT! The facilitator was adorable with the kids and the kids had a blast. They even got to go downstairs on some of the adult climbs! For birthday parties, you get a private party room, a long time to climb with the facilitator, and t-shirts at the end. Every kid left with a huge smile--even the ones who were nervous at first. Highly recommend!

I was visiting DC and decided to stop by before my flight. I will say compared to the gym back home DC is spoiled. The sauna, the locker room locks, the size of the gym. Wow. It's all amazing. I love the routes it was definitely a challenge. If I'm ever in the area I'll definitely come back

Friendly staff, good service, new equipment, thoughtful design, great shower and changing room (with hair dryers, hair bands, pads, towels, all the stuff one might need). The highlights of course are the bouldering (rock climbing) areas. There are two. A smaller one closer to the entrance (with some more difficult routes). There's a giant hall in the back (there are also pingpong tables there). Apparently (so I heard) they change the climbing routes every week, so you'll never get bored. Routes are well organized by colors (a color system) from easy to challenging. They thoughtfully provide even bandaids for your hands in case you get hurt. Out front there's a bike and e-scooter parking area with a rainbow flag. This branch is across from Union Kitchen, a place to get a quick bite.

Really cool I got to check this place out as I was in town for a conference! Bouldering Project is about to open up in Phoenix/Tempe (not quite yet open) and the guy at the counter was super awesome and honored my pre purchased founding member pass for the one about to open in Tempe and let me in at no added cost. SWEET! The place is huge with a fitness area, locker rooms, work space and two areas for climbing. I didn't make it over to the advanced areas as I had so much to do one side. I'll come back next time to check out the other side. I really enjoyed the climb here, lots of fun stuff with all kinds of people here including kids. They had liquid chalk, which was interesting to try, but sadly, I am allergic to it as I was itching after. Overall, a really fun experience and wished this place existed when I went to school here. I'll definitely be back when I am town!

I enjoyed a variety of climbs and the route setting at this gym! There's not a lot of competition-style climbs which I really enjoyed. I climbed at many gyms in Colorado and at the BP in Minneapolis, and the DB Bouldering Project is one of my favorites. The bouldering area feels a little small but there's plenty of climbs for all levels. The staff is very friendly, and the gym is very clean. I would definitely come back in the future.

Beautiful, new gym. It's got the aesthetics and the sunlit, industrial open spaces that are conducive for spending a whole day here! I love that they had a local artist do their gorgeous murals. This is DC's first climbing gym in the city proper. It is, however, on the pricey side. What did you expect with DC rent? (I mean the old rowhouse around the block goes for $2 mill in this newly-gentrified area). I haven't spent much time in Eckington, but the new development in the area seemed to have started with REI down the street. Currently, they have a 2 for 1 day pass ($29) deal for who knows how long. But take advantage of it while you can, if you want to visit! Once you arrive, every person is required to take a class, "Intro to Falling," that ensures that you know how to fall properly off a boulder. Good for newbies, but old news if you've already been climbing for a while. Not to worry - it only takes up about 5-10 minutes of your time and you can chat with one of the really cool staff members while you're at it. (Every staff member that I've encountered here is really friendly! You don't get that at many gyms). The settings for bouldering are good on the lower levels, which set you up for a lot of positive reinforcement. There is a lot of comp style climbing and dynamic movement. But it's lacking as you progress. Would love to see more variety than just comp style and they need more consistency when it comes to grades. There's an extended bouldering wall that makes you feel like you're doing a long route. Very fun. Remember to chalk up! I do like how they have free liquid chalk dispensers and sinks everywhere, so you can make sure your skin is in top shape. Also, there are 3 different areas for bouldering. The main area can get crowded on the weeknights and Saturdays. I'd recommend coming in on a Sunday. And besides, parking is free in some spots on the weekends. That brings me to my next point - if you drive, cut out extra time to look for parking. There are a few spaces in front of gym that are paid parking, or you could look on R Street nearby where there's free 2-hour parking at certain times. The shower and sauna room are perfect for a spa day! Super clean - very bougie and nice. They offer fresh towels and shampoo/conditioner for you to use. At peak hours, the bathrooms can get crowded, though. The gym has open rooms, where I assume they have yoga, HIIT and dance classes coming soon. They also have a few system boards and a weightlifting area. There is also an indoor slack line and ping pong table. Upstairs you'll find common areas and a community room where you could do work or chat/socialize. Seems like they designed it for you to stay for a while. (You might as well stay if you spent that much money!)

Overall as a gym, I'd give it 4 stars. Friendly staff, clean facility, as it should be since it's brand new, but as a bouldering gym, I'd probably only give it 3 stars. As a seasoned boulder-er, the climbs felt somewhat boring and climbing space was fairly limited. I was a bit underwhelmed with the amount of climbs they had. I would describe this place as fancy gym with some bouldering; rather than a full on bouldering/climbing gym like their counterparts in NYC/Brooklyn. Pricing is more or less the same as Earthtreks Crystal City but the bouldering experience there is much better (though their holds can get quite greasy)

The only bouldering gym in DC proper, I've been going for about 6 months but became a member via their access membership (discounted membership for minorities and those financially in need to make climbing more accessible) about 2 months ago and it's my favorite! I had never climbed before and their numerous events plus supportive staff and the strong sense of community makes me excited to push myself and try new things! they have a ton of walls and use a color system instead of a V system which I love! Highly recommend whether you need a new long term gym or just a place to sweat a little while visiting the district

My only slight complaint is that it's a bit pricey, but being the only bouldering gym in DC, that's pretty understandable.

If it wasn't for the welcoming atmosphere and convenient location of Woodley Park Yoga, I don't know if I would've kept up my practice. As a newbie to yoga, I take the beginner class on Saturdays at 11am and the guided quarter primary class on Tuesdays at 7pm, both taught by Elsie. She has a calming voice, goes over the poses for new folks, and encourages you through the more difficult poses. The beginner class is easier if you've at least tried yoga at another studio or at home with YouTube videos. Be prepared to sweat a little! The studio is sizeable and allows 13-15 people max depending on the class. You can store your yoga mat in the back room, and there are wipes for your mat. I don't usually see blocks or towels readily available, but ask if you need them. The studio is on the third floor of a four-story building in Woodley Park, above Uni Sushi (no elevator). There's a small bathroom in the back of the studio. If I can think of only one downside, it's not being able to pay for classes online in advance, even though you can reserve your spot online. You need to go to the studio and purchase classes directly with the teacher, which takes time before/after class if you're waiting for others to pay too. Better to just buy a pack of 5, 10, or 20 classes if you plan to come back regularly. Checking in relies a bit on the honor system: you write your name on a card and the number of classes, then cross each number off when you show up to class. Whether your a seasoned yogi or a newbie like me, I highly recommend dropping in Woodley Park Yoga for a class!

Great Instructors So far, I've really like all the yoga instructors. I've only been going for two weeks, but I've tried a variety of morning, afternoon and evening classes. I was looking for instructors that push you, yet understand if you have injuries or days you just need to take it easy, and I definitely found all the instructors to be that way. RSVP for Class I would definitely recommend signing up for class in advance. So far I've only been to a few packed classes (Sunday morning and Friday evening), but I'm sure there are other times that are pretty popular. They do allow someone in from the waitlist if you arrive early. Arriving Early I'd recommend arriving 10-15 minutes early to get a good spot, but I also got there right on time for one early morning class and was fine getting in. The Studio Space The space is not huge, but they do a great job making it feel peaceful with plants and natural light. Hard wood floors and an angled roof make it feel nice and cozy. Even in 100 degree weather, the AC was working well. I like that the instructor is in the middle so everyone can see them as both sides of the studio face in. Front Desk Friendly and helpful front desk volunteers. A Couple FYIS: 1. Four Sets of Stairs Walk-Up For me, walking up four sets of stairs is a great cardio add-on, but FYI if you aren't in the mood to walk up that many stairs. 2. Newbie Offers Check out their website for their introductory offers as they don't all appear on the Mindbody app, and you can only use one. They're very strict about it. Final Verdict Love this yoga studio! They have the widest variety of times for yoga and a lot of great teachers. Also, love that there's a community feel here - instructors and yogis are all friendly and laidback.
