Bike #8 is also on the fritz. You think it's working but its ability to measure RPM is inaccurate e.g. I'd slow down pedaling and yet the RPM would rise or I'd speed up but the RPM remains unchanged/declines. read more

So awesome that Cyclebar has opened in Torrance! If you're looking for a spin class or any kind of fun cardio workout, look no further. This place opened recently and the studio is in excellent condition. The manager, Allyson and the whole staff are super friendly and helpful. I was a little nervous for my first class but they did a great job explaining everything and helping me adjust my bike before class. They provide towels and shoes--all you have to bring is water! There are lockers in the lobby for you to use for free, and they also provide ice cold towels after class. The website/app is super easy to use to book classes and I love that you can see your stats after class. I tried out 4 different teachers and my favorite is Sydney! Love her energy and her playlists are fire! Definitely try out one of her classes! Music is SO important for a good cycling workout and she nails it every time. I highly recommend trying out Cyclebar! Great vibes here and your first ride is free! Parking: free in plaza lot. Located right next to Starbucks. read more

signed up for their soft opening classes and it was so addicting, i became a member! i havent done spin in a few years and vibes and energy from any studio is huge for me. this studio and everyone are all so welcoming, helpful and friendly. ive taken classes with different instructors and they all have high energy, motivational and make each class so fun. everyone's music just flows with each ride. allyson, who is the GM is awesome this studio offers spin shoes if you are a member, i believe is there a rental fee if you are doing a drop in class. lockers are provided, they have a water station and offer cold towels after class, which is so refreshing! parking: located in village del amo, next to starbucks huge lot so ample parking read more

Went for my free introductory class the other day, went to a class taught by Hannah. They have lockers, provide a towel on the bike, and provide cycle shoes that click in. You can request that you be on a bike next to your friends, which is super fun. I don't do heavy cardio on my own, just long slow workouts and pilates, so this took cardio to a new level for me! It was challenging, but you can always dial back if needed. Since the room is dark you don't feel all eyes on you. I found the music good for keeping pace since the beats in the songs dictate the speed. Maybe I wouldn't have every single song that was in the mix, one contained a lot of cursing and that's just not my thing. The class was exhilarating and I had a cardio high all day, I will definitely be back and take Hannah's class again. I'm so happy friends referred me and that I tried a new thing, not scary at all once you get set up on your bike, you just follow the instructor. Or don't, either way it's a great workout and no pressure. They also have stretching and weights integrated into the workout, wow! You might have a sore bum after this class but I hear that goes away after a few classes too! read more

Took one of the Soft Opening Rides as a first-timer and it was such a FUN and challenging experience! The entire staff were so friendly and enthusiastic when I mentioned it was my first time. Erica and Jazmine were SO friendly + helpful in getting my locker & bike set up! I was a little nervous, but within 5 minutes of checking in, I felt so comfortable! Overall, the space was so clean and organized! Shoes, lockers, and towels are provided! Sydney was a great instructor, she was really motivating and extremely affirming throughout the entire class. CycleBar Torrance is the absolute best! Each class is 45 minutes of great music, riding a bike with resistance (or not) and time doing something good just for me. The instructors are amazing - some of my favorites are Jenna, Hannah and Lauren. CycleBar is more than just an exercise class - it's a community that supports and encourages you in all aspects of life. Ok let's be honest,,, we can do a spin class anywhere.....BUT if you want to do a spin class that feels like a party - go to CYCLEBAR TORRANCE. Their studio, lighting and sound system are AWESOME! CYCLEBAR is a party while you exercise!! The instructors use music and lighting to MOTIVATE the heck out of you and your legs!! Love at first try. I enjoy working out but never have enjoyed the gym experience. Cardio is an important aspect of keeping the human body running efficiently. My wife talked me into trying this venue. I instantly loved it. The staff are very warm and welcoming, I never felt intimidated or uncomfortable. They all are very helpful and supportive. I strongly recommend giving it a try. Stepping out of my comfort zone is what allowed me to be introduced to a new avenue of my exercise routine. Very appreciative of this place. I went for the soft open event. Got my 3 free classes. Every time they gave us gift bags. My first impression was definitely 5 stars. I thought "well of course they want to impress me to sign up". But the service continues to be 5 star with their clean facility, great service and sweet staff. The instructors there are super down to earth and the energy is the best. I have signed up for unlimited classes and I highly recommend it because it is now my addiction. read more

I also tried Petra's yo-barre class on Thursdays and loved that as well. She does 30 minutes of barre followed by 30 minutes of deep stretching. I don't stretch enough so I really like her take of the yoga/barre combo. Katie's Monday night barre class is also amazing because she REALLY focuses on core. She is an incredible trainer and is so good at cue-ing your breath connected with your abdominals. Kim's step class on Mondays is SO fun. I was laughing my butt off because I was so uncoordinated. It's not only an excellent physical workout, but it works your brain a lot too. I love that Barreworks has grown and developed into so much more than a barre studio where you can still get barre, but also a lot more.

I am giving a one star because of the predatory practice that OrangeTheory has in cancelling. I requested a cancellation a few days before my charge date because I don't have time to go regularly anymore. The employee told me "I'll take care of it for you," so I assumed, like when I put my account on hold in the past and they said the same thing, that they would do so. On September 7, I noticed I had been charged for the month of August when I had asked to cancel. When I reached out, I was sent a survey to cancel, so I completed it. On September 16, I was charged for yet another month. So, now this is $200 that they have taken from my credit card when I canceled beforehand. In communicating with the regional manager, they said they cannot give me a refund because there is no record of my cancellation prior to September 7. That is because the employee forgot to put it into the system, so now I have to pay money for a gym I am not even attending because someone messed up on their end and they're not being held accountable, or they're just lying that I asked them to do it so they don't get in trouble for forgetting. Then I was told that they require 30 days notice. NO ONE TOLD ME THIS UNTIL TODAY! In a company worth so much money, I don't see how they cannot refund me. In this economy, $200 isn't nothing. I am so sad about this because I always planned on returning to OT when my schedule would allow for it in a few months, but now I will not be returning. I am really hurt that they could easily refund me because it's a company worth over $1 billion. $200 is nothing to them, but a lot to me. It is shocking that this is how they treat people who have been loyal to them for so long. Be careful if you sign up for OrangeTheory because this is a predatory practice, and I can't be the only person who has had this happen to them.

I purchased guest passes so I could bring my son to experience the gym. Instead of being welcoming or professional, the employee openly expressed that he did not like my son and stated that he would refuse to sell me guest passes in the future. I found this behavior completely inappropriate and unprofessional. Guest passes are offered by the gym as a service to members, and personal opinions about a member's family should never influence whether that service is provided. The employee's comments made both my son and me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I expect staff to treat all members and guests with respect, regardless of personal feelings. Management should address this issue and ensure employees maintain a professional attitude when interacting with customers.

I have been coming to CycleBar Torrance since they first opened and I've had the opportunity to take classes with every instructor. I can honestly say each one brings something unique and inspiring to every ride. Whether you're looking for a challenging workout, great music, or an uplifting atmosphere, you really can't go wrong with any of the instructors. They genuinely care about their riders, encourage you to push yourself at your own pace, and make every class fun and motivating. I feel the incredible sense of community and everyone is so supportive and welcoming. It's a judgment-free environment where people cheer each other on and celebrate every milestone, big or small. The support team and instructors pay a lot of attention to new riders, and make sure they feel comfortable with the equipment. Seems like there is a regular core of folks in each class but enough space for new folks to come and in. None of the clique-y vibe of some similar group class studios, either. Ample parking in front free lot, which us good as the room has more than a half dozen reformers plus a cadillac. Group classes combine a bit of floor (when I attended it was mainly a few stretches and prep for the reformers more complex balancing so nearly all of class was on the bed) with reformer. You'll want pilates socks for this studio. They have a smart and tidy method of giving each class attendee a plastic bin to put each person's personal goodies in then return at end of class. Keeps things tidy and clean! Music was a mix of newer pop, country etc. not very loudly played which was nice. Just enough to focus when things got tough. Pilates is like that: seems easy but the workout sneaks up on you in intensity. It's annoying and feels desperate. I mentioned to the instructor after the complimentary class that I belong to Equinox and will just take the barre classes there. I had initially been attracted to the "community" this business talks about. She replied that Equinox instructors aren't trained. Equinox is a high performance gym and though not every instructor is perfect, I found it inappropriate and a bit rude to speak of people you don't even know.

A little background: I'm new to the area, and I did lagree for about 1.5 years when I lived near Arcadia. The machines there were the newer Megaformers, with black, white, and grey springs. At MDR, since they've been established longer in the South Bay, the machines are older generation, with red, orange, and yellow springs. They also have various footholds and handlebars set at different heights. Since I trained on the newer models, I'm still getting used to these older ones at MDR, and it can be a bit confusing. Sometimes I catch myself looking for footholds, or reaching for the wrong handlebar since I'm used to just one bar. That said, lagree is a fantastic full-body workout that targets your abs, legs, arms, and glutes. I still get a challenging, sweaty session every time, it is brutal in the best way. The instructors are helpful, and I don't mind the hands-on adjustments since that's how you actually learn and improve. I'm just not ready to commit to a long-term membership yet, given the South Bay pricing. Parking is plentiful in the shared underground lot.

I'm not a stay at home mom with tons of free time, so dinging me with an extra financial charge for not being able to attend a class is unacceptable and bad business. I NEVER attended a class, therefore I thought canceling my membership wouldn't be an issue...NOT SO. They wouldn't refund me initially; I prepaid unlimited sessions at $3000. They eventually agreed to refund me, BUT, took just under $300, for what I have no idea. I was never given a reason for taking this amount of money...possibly a "we're pissed to lose $3k, so we're going to punish you for canceling your membership. Regardless, I'm glad I canceled because it shows me how unprofessional this business is...stealing almost $300 from me for absolutely no reason. Buyer beware!!!
