This is my go to company for any helmet needs. The selection is usually pretty good compared to other businesses in my area.

I have been going to this location for years now and customer service has gone down hill every visit. This last time I went in I was looking to purchase a new helmet and Bluetooth system. After standing in front of the helmets for 15 minutes uses, never being greeted while one employee sat there going through his phone and the other 2 just talking to each other. I walked up and asked about the helmet I wanted. One guy looked it up and said it was not available. He asked me to hold on while he went to help another employee in the back. 10 minuets pass and I still am not helped. Finally I left. I went online to see who I could speak to about the lack of customer support. I received a email from a nice young lady who said she would pass the complaint to the district manager and I would receive a call from him. Been almost a month now and no call. I will never shop Cycle Gear for anything again. Customer service is non existent and the youn guy they have working at this location are more involved on their phones or talking to each other. read more

I had like 40 minutes until my first motorcycle class zoom and I wouldn't have time to buy gloves before the first day of riding. Well I had a month of time but didn't use any of that time, so as I said, I didn't have time. A yelp search showed me this place and when I asked a friend he also recommended this place. I walked in and immediately thought hmm this place might carry enough motorcycle equipment. Kyle, one of the guys who works there, came up and introduced himself pretty quickly. He asked if he could help and I told him about my sudden and surprise need for gloves. He asked a couple questions and referred me to gloves that were in line with what I had researched and got recommendations for and left me to make decisions. I needed to replace my SNELL-2010 helmet, and the team here was VERY helpful. The helmet will be used in a car as well, so I was thinking about the modular helmet style...but they steered me away from that straight away since none (or at none they had) are SNELL rated. I ended with an updated model of the Shoei helmet that I had been using, and this one is SNELL-2020, so I should be set for awhile. They took the time to point out some details of the helmet, like the accomodation for a mic (which I'll need on the track), and how to remove the window (which I don't want in the car). Lastly, after purchase, I remembered to ask about the anti-fog shield for the window. They noted that it was included in the box, and asked if I would like for them to apply it. As they have far more experience with this than I, not to mention my being a klutz, I happily accepted their offer. The only bummer is that they do not stock TourMaster products (I was looking to replace some great boots, and wanted to stay with TourMaster), though they could special order TourMaster if needed. Overall, though, I was thrilled. Love this store. just an up date my Sena Bluetooth was acting up and cutting out in one ear. I rode in with my helmet and said hey I bought this here and its not working. The clerk asked if I bought the 2 year warranty I said IDK , I just remember buying it here. Then she looked it up on the computer and walked away, came back with a new one in the box and said here ya go. I said that's it she said yup, unless you want to upgrade. I asked how much and it was only like 14 dollar difference to upgrade to the 20S model. plus the new 2 year warranty for 15 bucks , that's a no brainier I said sure lets do it. i took the old one out and gave it to them and rode away with a brand new one for under 30 bucks. I have been trying to get new motorcycle helmets, with comms, for Colleen and I. I was working with the two dealerships which I have used for years. But neither could come through with what I need, likely due to supply chain issues. (Note: I wear a size 8 hat for helmets can be an issue). No disrespect for either. I will continue to shop with them. After over six months and no new helmet, I gave up and canceled orders. Then I went to Cycle Gear in San Marcos to see what could be done. I dealt with Kriss (who is either the manager or should be as all the employees followed her instructions). She did lead us away from the bargain helmets, but I had already decided I would suck it up and buy a decent brain bucket. Kriss fitted us for two matching Shark modular helmets. Of course mine was not in stock at the shop, but in stock at the warehouse. Fast forward one week and we are back to pick up our gear. Kriss spent well over an hour helping to properly fit our helmets, install the comms, connect the comms to our phones, and teach us how to use them. And when she was done, she also fixed a glitch with Rever Pro on my phone. I am truly happy with Cycle Gear San Marcos, and especially the service above and beyond by Kriss. read more

HUGE SUCCESS! II came in to find a jacket for my wife so she can go on her first ride with me. I can't tell you how important it was that she have a good experience because she was already apprehensive about motorcycle riding and I needed her to enjoy this part of the experience. Good selection of street bike gear but I only wear Dainese (yes, I know) so that's all I ever look at or care about. Also, they have quite a lot of helmets (Aria, HJC, Shoei, AGV).
