i came in a couple days ago and asked a dude with a horrible beard if they would price match a tire I found from a different website and first he told me they don't price match then told me the website I was trying to price match was on a "list" of places they don't price match, i felt like he was being weird so I submitted a price match request through the cycle gear website and they responded saying they would happily price match. Updating my review from a 2 start to a 1 star because apparently someone reached out in regards to helping me find / purchase a helmet during Black Friday sales for the promotion because the manager failed to do so. But they were unable to help me too and just wasted more of my time. Better off ordering everything online now days. This chain has some great gear for a nice price! I'm not going to lie, some of the stuff fits the "you get what you pay for" phrase, but a lot of it is bonafide and the selection is pretty good. Got a tire mounted here about two years ago. I wrote on the rotor with sharpie which side it was on. Come to find out, these people mounted the directional tire backwards. This was noticed by my Indy shop and they fixed the issue. My bike had wobbles over 75 which I never had before, and that's why I had brought the bike to them in the first place. Now my tire that should have lasted me much longer has to be replaced because of the incompetence of the tech here that mounted my tire. I even called the store to ask what could be done, and the manager I spoke with was rude and told me I was out of luck. He said there's no way to pull a receipt from that long ago, but I'm not even sure if that was true. I called corporate too and they said they would have the district manager contact me and a week and a half later and no word. $200 for a tire down the drain. I'll make sure none of my many friends come to you guys ever again. In the attached photo, you can literally see where the rotor says "left" and they still mounted the tire backwards. Luckily I had this picture because I took it of my dog and this was in the background. This is a safety concern and it is really concerning they literally did not care in the slightest. read more

I bought a helmet here and then returned it because it did not fit in the cubby under my seat. I used the new helmet less than one day and ended up HATING it. The only good thing was that it did fit in the cubby under my seat. So I took it back and Tab was more than helpful, allowing me to exchange it back for my original helmet. Tab is cool and I really like the fact that he doesn't treat me like I'm stupid just because I'm a girl. I got a few other things here and will definitely be back. read more

What's there to say about a cycle shop? The staff is always attentive and polite. The prices are good and they have frequent sales (n.b., if you can wait a month or so, that item will likely go on sale!) They have "the basics" in the store, concentrating mostly on helmets and clothing. It's nice that you can order online and have it delivered to the store (I did this with a helmet... and it took a LONG time to arrive; however, had it not fit, I could have returned in on the spot. I just came from this store and I am looking forward to coming back. I was greeted as soon as I walked in, told the staff what I was looking for and they were extremely helpful. Being new to the riding world they gave me tips and advice on what I was looking for. Went to Cycle Gear in about a week ago to get my first set of gear. A gentleman by the name of Deandre was there to help me sort out beginner difficulties. He taught me how to properly size a helmet, the shape of my head and why I should be buying the type of helmet that I was going to eventually purchase. I was going to by some cool looking expensive boots but Deandre cautioned me that I would be upgrading my gear at some point, so I was steered to a pair of comfy boots that were on sale. The same goes for my gloves. For my jacket I was left alone but he gave me info for how to find a good fit. Overall I found the experience to be extremely pleasurable and information filled. I would(and will) be headed back to Cycle Gear(in Sharpstown) to purchase more items. While there I also discovered that tires are sold on the premises. When you go ask for Deandre. Have been going to this store since 2013 and customer service was always perfect with Gus and Dre. But lately it hasn't been the best. Called today to get a price on a tire and spoke to Robert who informed me they didn't have the tire I needed which was ok but they could order it. I asked him how much the tire was and he says we'll go look on the website for the prices I'm not in the right system in the store right now. Nope not gonna look something up when I called the store for the information and half the time the prices don't match up anyways. He gave me a bs quote of 140 just to shut me up but it just shows he didn't care about helping the customer. I referred so many friends to cycle gear through the years. No hassle return and exchange policies are what kept me going back. Battery I bought was exchanged with no issues. Arai helmet I bought was exchanged for a different one because it didn't fit right. Dainese leather jacket I purchased was exchanged because of stitching that came apart on the side seem.
