They do not fill prescriptions when they are indicated, and then they will fill prescriptions when they are the wrong prescription even after five phone calls. They will do everything that they can to push extra work on the patient and will not do things like submit things to the insurance company, instead they will just not fill a prescription or make the patient contact the insurance company to leave a message for the pharmacists.

I'll use the self checkout even though I hate those things which seem to enjoy accusing me of stealing because their AI is incompetent. I scan my sodas and they show up as $2.79, with no discount. Okay, I guess I have to hit Finish. I hit Finish. No change. I look around for a store employee and none is to be found. I walk all the way back to the soda section and take a picture of the prices so I can come back and get my discount. I do that and go to the register where now there is a clerk, who was probably only there because they had to reset the self-checkout kiosk that I left in the middle of a transaction when I went to check the price. I was told that you have to get all the way to the end of the checkout for it to show you the discount. I guess I didn't tell it how many bags I wanted so it wasn't able to show me the correct prices. Because those are related somehow. Of course, they didn't even have any bags at that kiosk. So, that's a fail right there. A bag would have been nice. This is ridiculous. Show me the price when I'm checking out. Is that so hard? Gas stations can handle it. They scan 2 sodas and the discount shows up right away. Or do you just want to have some big "You saved this much" at the end of the transaction because some marketing idiot thought that would have more of a psychological impact than simply showing me the correct price when I'm scanning my items? This experience pissed me off. I walked all the way back to the cooler and took a picture of the price tag because your stupid kiosk wasn't able to show me the price I was paying until I am all the way at the end of the transaction. Which I thought pressing "Finish" was for. I hate these self-checkout kiosks. You couldn't even have a person at the register to help if someone needed help, like I did. Instead, I wasted my time when I was in a hurry. Goodbye. You've lost me as a customer.

However, I recommend dealing with them only by telephone and voicemail (despite what their website says). Email often gets lost, so I nearly got stuck on a refill, almost running out of my cat's vital medicine. And, staff do not know how to set up the phone/internet refill app for the customer, so I would avoid that too. (To the owner: I highly recommend that you remove the email and app mentions from your website, until you improve your IT systems to always work promptly and effectively with your staff and customers.)

On too many occasions, my prescription wasn't ready when it was supposed to be, and it felt like they didn't actually start processing my prescription until I came to pick it up. The store itself is a good supermarket, but the pharmacy part just hasn't been very reliable for me. I was there on time and they had a large sign right in front of the pharmacy that said to scan the QR code to check in for vaccine appointments. So I did that, and the instructions on the app said, "You're all checked in. Please take a seat and someone will call your name shortly." Or something almost exactly like that. I sat among other people in the waiting area for vaccines. We had all used the QR code as instructed on the sign, and then waited as instructed after we completed our online check in. Unfortunately, no one had told the staff about this process and it seems no staff members have read their own sign. They never called anyone's name and it turns out they expect you to ALSO get in line to answer the exact same two check in questions and only then will they call your name to get your vaccination. A completely inefficient and ineffective system. I mentioned that the sign could simply be moved to the back, out of sight, since it gave incorrect instructions, and was a moveable free standing sign. Two people told me, "I'll let them know..." But during the entire time I was there, the sign stayed in place. I was there for almost an hour to get my vaccine, despite being either the first, or one of the first vaccine appointments of the day. And there was also no line at the pharmacy when I walked in, so I could have easily stepped up to the counter to check in, had they not had a sign instructing me not to do so. On a positive note, the people I talked with were friendly and trying their best, it seems. But what a terrible system. Goodness. Go to CVS instead. My friend had an appointment at CVS around the same time and got in and out AND BACK HOME in under 15 minutes!

More recently, I went to pick up a prescription and I attempted to enter my phone number in order to benefit from the 5 prescription purchase 20% discount on food in the store, but the person behind the counter closed out the transaction. I asked her if that would affect my registration of the purchase for the purpose of getting the rewards associated with the purchase, and she told me that it wouldn't. Then I asked the store manager, and he told me that this was not true. I went back to the pharmacy and they finally gave me the voucher as well as another card in order to keep track of the purchases. I had to argue to get this. Then I was told by the pharmacist that people on government assistance can't use it and that's why I wasn't offered the promotion. I am not on government assistance and I believe this is a type of discriminatory profiling. Shame on Jewel-Osco for having employees who are that stupid.
