While I have CVS Pharmacy locations closer to where I live, I drive by this particular location at least once a week when heading to work. It is one of the two locations located at the Arizona State University Tempe Campus. Every now and then, when I need something on the way home from work or to work, I will stop by here out of convenience. I have interacted with the staff, purchased various products, and browsed the shelves for other items over the years. The store is sometimes a bit messy and sometimes very clean. It really depends on the day I stop by. For the most part, the store is easy to navigate. The staff is very friendly and helpful though sometimes it is difficult to find the staff in the store as the front of the store can be considered the back of the store, and the back of the store can be considered the front of the store due to registers on both sides. They also have products like ASU spirit items and clothing, which you won't find at all CVS stores. I have rarely ever waited to check out at this store. I encourage everyone to sign up for ExtraCare, which is a free membership and includes sales prices, deals for you, 2% back in ExtraBucks rewards, a $3 birthday reward, and up to $50 in ExtraBucks rewards at the pharmacy. Also, while the Black Friday CVS deals were incredible a number of years ago, now you can only get good deals but not incredible deals with free items. While I'm a huge fan of CVS in general and the ExtraCare+ program, the stores are hit or miss. I will gladly still come back to this store as need be in the future as it is certainly convenient, and I can get what I need here. read more

It has been seven years since I lived in downtown Tempe, just a few blocks away from CVS. I would frequent here all of the time for convenient healthcare or beauty pick ups. I just did a staycation at the Omni, which is right across the street, and decided to run to get some, M&M's and an iced tea from the CVS. I was shocked to see that the main walkable entrance directly on Mill Avenue and University was closed down completely, and the building itself was just dirty, grungy and very off-putting. Even once I was inside, it did not have the same clean feeling that you get from most other CVS store locations. Very disappointed. read more

Very slow service and much of the store was lacking in stock; the stock that was present was often damaged. Employees at checkout do not know how to multi-task; for example, taking a long time doing nothing waiting for a customer to troubleshoot their purchase attempt bro finally realizing they could checkout another person at one of the several unused registers. Service looks like if random people were pulled off the street and told to run the place. Would highly recommend any average gas station convenience store over this CVS location. Zero stars, please. My son parked here so he could go into the Chick-fil-A next door and then come right back to this CVS store, just 20 minutes later, so he could stock up supplies he needed for a long trip he was making, but unbelievably within that 20 minutes, they had his car towed unnecessarily. Nobody else was in the lot at 4:30 PM, as traffic was already leaving campus for the day. When we went inside to inquire about why they called a tow and who was responsible, we played Pass the Buck from employee to employee, and even the one who made the call wouldn't take responsibility and admit that she did it. She just gave us the tow companiy's number, and guess what? They charged us $150 to get the car back. There was a time when we shopped CVS, but no more. The $150 they fraudulently took from us tonight will turn into tens of thousands of dollars lost for them when we, our family and our friends no longer shop CVS for the rest of our lives. It's a shame that they couldn't think more sympathetically and supportively about a poor but hard-working and sweet college kid today, but they really did themselves in with the worst customer service imaginable. Updating this review. While I still stand that this location is not great once the sun goes down, during the day they do a damn good job making sure the self check outs are staffed and making sure the homeless are loitering/stealing or harassing everyone. They even had security working there. It makes me wonder where they are during the night time. I even used the pharmacy recently. I got my prescription without any issues and quickly. I stop here now when I need something quick after work as its close to many public transportation (bus, free shuttle, 10 minute walk to light rail or a quick ride on the street car) read more

Saw another review about the pharmacists telling a lady her insurance information wasn't correct when they hadn't entered it correctly. Yea. Not surprised. I came here to explain my typhoid vaccine situation because the vaccine is supposed to be refrigerated and can't be left out of the fridge for more than 20 minutes, the dude at the pharmacy doesn't even properly look at my medication, calls it malarial medication, tells me that it can be kept out for 72 hours, and gets snooty with me telling me people take their vaccines sometimes right before their trip. Unless you know what you're talking about, how about don't talk. Fake ass attitude and he has the audacity to argue with me instead of looking at the damn box and the instructions on it. Besides him, the ladies were nice and didn't answer questions they don't know jack about. Can't trust someone or expect someone to help you when they show you they don't know what the hell they're talking about. Five stars for CVS, zero for their reckless power washer contractors seen today 5/9/24 blocking handicapped spaces with generators and hoses creating an inaccessible tripping hazard (ADA), as well as leaving a large 8foot folding ladder unoccupied blocking half of the entrance with objects on top that could have fallen on a child's head, or blocked egress in the event of a fire or evacuation. Store occupancy was about 25, and most would need to use these doors in an emergency. (Fire code) Leaving a ladder blocking the entrance is one thing, but to casually dismiss it as "yeah, whatever" when politely brought to their attention, leaving the matter having to be escalated to the store manager. The MOD said she would investigate the matter. This vendor SEPTON DEVELOPMENT GROUP should be terminated and I have supporting documentation. read more

Thank you to the pharmacy staff! This is the best pharmacy I've used in the city, and probably my favorite of the cities I've lived. The pharmacists and techs are really caring (it's very easy to reach them via phone) and upbeat (it's the only pharmacy I've been to where they're jamming out to emo music when I come in). I love how the head pharmacist displays photos of his kids. It all makes a huge difference to patients. And I'm sure it contributes to why the pharmacy is so efficient and well-running. I recently moved to Phoenix but I think I am going to commute to Tempe to keep this pharmacy (written as I am currently on hold for 25 minutes at the CVS near my new home). read more

Is it a wonder why this CVS sucks! My child is a student at the university so we're held hostage to this location since we're out of state! They suck! Never mind how filthy the outside is and the homeless problem surrounding it the pharmacy is completely inept! He had a prescription that was on back order and they told him they wouldn't get it for along time! They were supposed to call him when it was initially received from his dr! Which they didn't! Until he called them multiple times and finally went in! That's when he found out it was on back order! THEN they were supposed to call him when it came in!! Guess what, it came in and they never called him! If we weren't in town and went in we'd never have known! Well they couldn't fill it because the morons were punching in the wrong information and the insurance wouldn't go thru! HOWEVER, they assured us that, as long as, we called the insurance company to get it straightened out within a few days he should have no problem receiving it! Behold! The second installment of my "Joe has a toothache" story brings to CVS on Mill Ave. Though hardly a better location in terms of accessibility compared to its sibling on Rural and Apache, I go in for this CVS because of the abundance of pigeons that hang around the premises, and also the Chick-fil-A next door! However, there would be no Chick-fil-A for me today... for I have a toothache, and there is hell to pay. Following a productive appointment with a family nurse practitioner (props to our NPs and PAs!), it was determined that my elevated temperature, high heart rate, and neutrophilia meant the obvious: my body has waged war against something nasty. On top of my superb treatment plan, I was prescribed [horse pill] antibiotics and a controlled painkiller. These were electronically submitted to CVS, where some 15 minutes later I traveled to. I made a beeline to the pharmacy, where I was met by a kind gentleman who said my medications would be ready in 10 minutes. No problem at all -- that's actually faster than I was expecting! I spent the intervening time checking my blood pressure and purchasing a thermometer to track my fever. When I returned, the pharmacist not only handed me my bag -- he let me know that a lower rate had been applied to one of the meds. My bill was marvelously lower than I anticipated. I left the pharmacy a happy and grateful man. Only one complaint! There was no consultation on how to use the meds. I have the good fortune of working in this field; plus I was given ample instructions from my provider anyway, so I didn't have any questions. However, I am concerned for other patients who might be prescribed a controlled pill and aren't appropriately counseled. Even if it's something as simple as cough syrup, I err on the side of providing patients with as much information as possible on proper dosing and usage. Meds aren't candy, after all (even though those sweet-coated Advils sure make the appearance). Anyway, that's enough of that. Time to fight off this goddamned infection! read more

CVS Pharmacy - Drugstores Near Me - TEMPE, Arizona

It's dirty surrounded by people sleeping on the ground right in front of the entrances (although they are mostly harmless they are also very dirty). It's very poorly stocked, no cold drinks or bottled waters the coolers are almost empty and what is in stock is all in disarray. Their web site says open 24/7 but that doesn't apply to the pharmacy they close pretty early actually 8pm and 6pm on weekends. Look it's long but worth the read This CVS pharmacy offered me the worst prescription pickup I have ever experienced. I go to pick up, and no one approached me. This man ended up yelling over the room to help me, and asked for my insurance card (so much for privacy). I hand them a photo, and he asks if I have an updated one. I tell him that's the correct information and updated card. They tell me it's not (like they know my insurance better than me), I tell them that my insurance is correct as I just used it at the doctor. Once I said this I got a snooty little murmur from the peanut gallery telling me that the doctor and Rx cards are different. Like I said, I know my insurance better than they do, and my one card has both information on it. After going back and forth, I leave defeated. 5 minutes later I get a call from cvs letting me know my insurance does not cover this prescription (spoiler alert! It does). I decide to call my insurance agent, and she assures me all my information is correct and up to date, duhhh. I tell her how simple minded the employees were and she helped me out by calling them for me. Let's skip ahead here- my insurance information was correct the disrespectful little wanna be pharmacists just didn't enter in the numbers correct. I walk in, ask for my prescription and not one of the original workers could even look in my direction. Mind you their manager/higher up was there the entire time. I got my prescription for free covered by my insurance, and will never be returning. I mean hey what more do you expect from a CVS right off of the ASU campus. Good workers don't come cheap, and I can see CVS is penny pinching. Look I'm not even mad, this experience was kinda funny, but at the end of the day I'm just thankful to not be dull-witted and miserable with my job. read more

I always believe that honesty is the best policy. Doctor's secretary called this pharmacy to confirm that they took the insurance we had for two prescriptions. The pharmacy said yes so the doctor's staff sent the prescriptions digitally to them. When we got there and the prescriptions had been filled (the next day because they didn't fill them on the same day), we were told that only ONE of the prescriptions was covered. This is not what they told the doctor's secretary (which was done in my presence). So we had out of pocket expenses which we did not have to have. We were told that Walgreens would have covered both by insurance. So why not tell us that BEFORE we sent the prescriptions to you? Underhanded and dishonest. I will never shop at this CVS. I reccomend others avoid it as well. Had the cashier and another employee ignore me at first. When checking out was asked for a member card. I didn't know the number so went out and asked my wife our card number. I went to the back of the line and when I came up the clerk accused me of smelling of alcohol and said she could not sell me two cans if beer. I informed her I had not had anything to drink all day. She told me that a customer who was previously in line with me smelled it too. I'm not sure how one defends him or herself from this accusation. I explained I had not drank all day and was obviously not intoxicated. This fell on deaf ears. I asked to speak to the manager and provided the same explanation. The manager told me he has to go with his clerk. I get there are college kids in the area. But if a kid walks to CVS after having a few drinks they should be able to buy alcohol. In addition, as a 48 year old obviously not intoxicated person I should be able to buy alcohol. Won't be shopping at this CVS again. read more

The actual pharmacy for prescriptions here is great! Just moved here from SoCal and the girls here in this pharmacy made it so easy! (which was a great change from the pharmacies i'm used to back in CA) Stevie specifically has made every trip to this pharmacy a breeze. Whether it was coordinating between different Dr offices for my different Rx's, while still finishing my move, or filling a new Rx from even a new Dr. here in AZ, she just made everything WORK SEAMLESSLY! No hassle and more than reasonable wait times to fill the Rx whenever she's in... and that's IF the Rx hasn't been sent in electronically already, in which case it's ready by the time I get there, without fail when she's around. Definitely worth a shot, just ask for Stevie ! read more

I have a bad case of sinus pressure (my eyes are even twitching, making reading on a day off not even possible), and after getting on a full 72 bus, then getting on the wrong Orbit bus (that is how confused I was w/my headache), I decided I better get my prescription filled at the brand new pretty CVS, instead of my usual Walgreens on Broadway and Mill, since I might as well walk home after taking a 20 minute Orbit joy ride. I was surprised when the associate with inked in eyebrows, super chimney sotty eyelashes (mary poppins?) told me the wait would be like, 20-45 minutes. I should have probably just taken my prescription at that point back since that is a seriously long wait time. But I figured, well, I can kill some time at Borders and look at art for while. I gave them a half hour, and after getting pan handled by 'punks' dressed better than I am, I just wanted to go home. I get there and a young Ron Howard tells me another 20-40 minutes. W. T. F. I am trying not to be livid, I don't want to be an asshole, but are you for fucking real? After I gave it an extra 30 minutes to be sure? Sure, I've got time to dick around in a bright flurescent space, thanks! Oh, is that the new Oprah magazine? Perfect-would much rather stand here since there are no chairs around the Pharmacy for another half hour or so, than like lay down with my meds to treat my bitch of a headache, Ron! Finally, I ask for it, they have it. The pharmacist apologizes for the wait, saying she is the only one on duty. Then who the fuck are all the other fucknuts on your staff, lady? Are you telling me you are the only pharmicist among 8 other people milling behind the counters? When I go to Walgreens, there are like five people, like five PHARMICISTS, ready and willing to help me with my questions, seek out meds, with helpful advice and ready with 15 minutes. The cashiers who work for the store itself are very nice and I've never had an issue with them. The pharmacy workers, however, are horrible. The service I received picking up my prescription was about as awful an experience as I could have received. I was treated with open contempt and what seemed to me to be accusatory remarks. One person who worked there LITERALLY rolled her eyes so hard at me, her field of vision must have vibrated. It was absurd. It was childish. When I actually came to picking up my medication, I was asked what my medical insurance number was "supposed" to be. The fuck does "supposed" mean? An odd choice of words. When I asked for clarification, I received nothing except for a shitty look. I was then told my prescription card through Cigna was expired. I didn't even give a goddamn anymore. I paid the $13 and got the hell out of there. It was one of the worst experiences ever. If someone's picking up medication, common sense dictates that you would be a little bit more sensitive to those people. read more

I get all of my scripts from here because it's down the street from my house. This review is for the pharmacy only. The pharmacists are great and have always been available to answer my questions. Also, the one guy who works as a pharmacy tech (brunette/young) is fantastic. He is always full of life, happy and professional. My issue is with Grace. The last time I was in the drive through, I had the pleasure (or not) of being helped by Grace. She was unbelievably rude; almost to the point of me thinking this must be a joke. I was waiting for hidden cameras to come out from around the store. She rolled her eyes at me, scoffed and had an overall crappy attitude. Because of her, I will be transferring all of my script to someone else. It's apparent that this girl does not want to be working and should NOT be customer facing at any time. read more

In a word... Terrible. The messed up billing so badly that our insurer flagged us for fraud after my wife had my daughter. They also delayed much needed pain meds for my wife. That was in January, and I assumed an isolated incident. Fast forward to today... They have no record of me/my family. Let me drop off scripts and told me to come back in 90 min. I come back as ordered and find they have done nothing, (including calling me)... 2 people tell me I didn't drop a script off that they have no record of me. I point out the guy that I have script to and thankfully he remembers me. Fast forward an hour and we're still here... And still no meds. Poor form. read more

I've been a CVS guy for about 15 years, spanning three cities across the country. Some branches are better than others, some regions are better than others - they're no better or worse than other national chains which also have some good branches and some bad branches. I picked them because they have a great "rewards program" and because they have heavy presences in places where I travel often. So this is a bad branch. There's a couple decent check-out kids, but in general their employees are among the worst trained I've ever seen, in terms of providing polite, timely, friendly customer service. They avoid your eyes when they see you looking for something in an aisle, lest you bother them with a question. They never EVER greet you with a smile and a "good morning" or a "did you find everything you need?" while you check out. They have inconsistent policies about whether or not coupons can be scanned from iPhone or paper copies needed (the manager basically called me a liar when I said checkout people have scanned my iPhone coupons many times in the past). I guess if you sell very profitable liquor and meds, you make money no matter how bad your attitude is. It's not like Walgreens and Rite Aid are setting the world on fire with their customer service either.... If you don't travel a lot like I do, pick a nice local independent pharmacist... read more

Messing up a CVS experience is a bit of a challenge since organizationally they have store managers, area managers, regional managers, and managerial managers to ensure that the CVS experience is the same the world over. Visually this store is laid out like any other, but was different in its own way too. For one, i have never known a CVS to sell liquor. A pharmacy in the Northeast would never dream of such a thing, but CVS is apparently a popular spot for bros to grab their oversized bottles of vodka in Tempe. That would be totally fine if it were not July 4th weekend, and late at night. The bros were out in force, tight clothes, and swagger all around. I just wanted a toothbrush, and some lotion, but i had to queue up behind a quickly growing like of would be partiers at the only open register. One thing i found strange is that the clerk would routinely interrupt whatever she was saying to throw whomever came through the door with "welcome to CVS". I assume that her store manager, area manager, regional manager, or manager manager required it, because she would just throw it at them like a grenade. Maybe they heard it, maybe not. Who cares? It was weird though, because she never interrupted her transactions to summon backup to open another register. Nope, we were just chilling the night away while people in various states of sobriety fumbled through purchases. It was a perfect storm of strange circumstances, but it was strange nonetheless. read more

Maybe its the Mill bar strip proximity, or the ASU campus...but this place never has what I need and at some times and days it is messy that you just want to go back the way you came. Recently they added self payment machines, that could help, but still needs lots to improve. read more

They're pretty nice here. I've never had to wait an exorbitant amount of time--pretty standard for your average prescription. They have a drive-up prescription place, which is sweet. The pharmacy people have always been nice. As opposed to a few previous reviews, their appearance doesn't really make a difference to me. I'm not trying to date these people, I just want them to do me a good service (zing). The prices are high because it's a drugstore, not a Wal-Mart. Oh, and they have a massive liquor section including beer, a large variety of wines and spirits ranging from plastic handles of Popov to Grey Goose. Plus, they have a ton of mixers.
