It is…read morethe oldest pharmacy in South Carolina as well as the oldest continuously-operating business in Summerville. It was founded by Dr. Henry Charles Guerin. The roots of the pharmacy go back decades earlier. Dr. C.F. Schwettmann owned a drugstore in Charleston, but it was damaged by cannon fire during the Civil War. He set up a new drugstore in Summerville in 1864. In 1871, Guerin (a former Confederate soldier and graduate of the Medical College of South Carolina) purchased the pharmacy and Schwettmann returned to Charleston. After Guerin passed away, the pharmacy was taken over by his son Dr. Joseph C. Guerin. The younger Guerin's colleague Dr. Herbert F. Dunning later purchased the pharmacy. Since 2014, the owner of Guerin's Pharmacy has been Dunning's grand niece Barbara A. Dunning, RPh. My family and I visited Guerin's Pharmacy this past summer while we were visiting family in town. Our cousins told us to check out a really cool old pharmacy in Hutchinson Square. We had no idea that pharmacies like this still existed; we had only seen ones like this in the movies. In addition to a pharmacy, Guerin's also essentially doubles as a general store where customers can purchase souvenirs, postcards, books, t-shirts, etc. Guerin's is also home to a soda fountain, which were popular in drugstores during the first half of the 20th century but rarely seen today. Customers can get Blue Bell brand ice cream, milkshakes, malts, floats, fountain sodas, hotdogs (with or without chili), pickles, or a number of different treats from the candy counter. My wife and I shared a cup of "Mint Chocolate Chip" ice cream while our sons shared a cup of "Cookies 'n Cream". My wife also enjoyed a strawberry milkshake while I had a bottle of Cheerwine. It was so cool to step back in time at Guerin's Pharmacy! We'll definitely visit again on a future trip to Summerville.

Nothing! Long story short a second employee comes and doublecheck the box and all the surrounding boxes, still nothing and this time they both go to the back. One guy waiting behind me and about 12 or 13 minutes later one comes back and looks again in the circled area with a little more systematically and orderly approach, Nothing! While pharmacy visits can often be a source of stress, the team at this location consistently goes above and beyond to make the experience seamless. The Pharmacy Experience The pharmacy staff here are the true stars. Even during peak hours, they remain professional, patient, and incredibly knowledgeable. I've had several instances where my insurance had a hiccup or a prescription needed a quick clarification from my doctor, and the pharmacists worked tirelessly to resolve it while I waited. Drive-Thru Efficiency: The drive-thru window is a lifesaver for parents with kids in the car or when you're just not feeling well. They move the line quickly without making you feel rushed. Proactive Communication: The text alerts for refills are always accurate, and I rarely ever find that my medication isn't ready when they say it will be. Store Layout & Essentials Beyond the pharmacy, the retail side is always clean and exceptionally organized. One-Stop Shop: It's my go-to for high-quality beauty supplies, seasonal decor, and those last-minute "forgotten" grocery items like milk or eggs. Photo Department: I've used their photo lab for everything from passport photos to holiday cards, and the quality is consistently high with a very fast turnaround time. FedEx Convenience: Having the FedEx Drop-off and Pickup here is a huge bonus. You can print labels from a QR code and drop off packages while you're already running errands. Customer Service What really sets this location apart is the "small-town" feel in a busy area. The front-end staff usually recognizes regulars and always greets you with a smile. It's clear that management prioritizes customer care, which makes a big difference in the overall vibe of the store. Pro Tips for This Location Pharmacy Lunch Break: Just a reminder that the pharmacy usually closes for a meal break (typically 1:30 PM - 2:00 PM), so plan your pickup around that! Walgreens App: Use the app to "clip" coupons before you go--I've saved a ton on vitamins and household cleaners just by scanning my phone at checkout.

Only other option is to give the patients DOB, then the system looks up phone numbers for everyone with that DOB and if it doesn't match doesn't let you do anything but leave a voice mail. Then no one calls you back. I will never use CVS for any of my personal medications, there is absolutely NO customer service, and no one there appears to care. All they want is that prescription and all your money. If you aren't calling for that they have absolutely no use for you, and they let you know it. I'd like to see them go bankrupt. I told the girl that we had been to the doctor and that mom was exhausted and hungry so I'd take her to get lunch and come back. One hour is more than sufficient to have 3 prescriptions filled ! The pharmacy staff has consistently been friendly and helpful. My only reason for giving four stars instead of five is that wait times can get pretty long during busy hours. A huge sprawling parking lot with enough space under one roof to get in a mile of walking, if one were so compelled. This brings me to Target in Summerville, SC. Located in a safe albeit busy part of town this place will have, almost anything you need since it's a Super Target. They're aren't many people walking around so if you need something be prepared to "hunt." Finally the place is always clean and stocked so that's a huge bonus. As for the food, it has what one has come to expect from Target, average products at a low cost however when it comes to fruit and veggies, the supply is always needs a lot of washing. The baked and homemade food items are average but better than that other "blue" store! I've also found they're limited in toys as I tried to purchase some items for my kids but they only have the absolute most popular items. So, if you want that GI Joe action figure, you won't find it here, or at least anything new. As for electronics, they have most of the newest gaming consoles, games and controllers however 4k media is limited, but that's a standard among all stores now as physical media continues to be replaced by inferior forms of content like streaming. Most items like pet food and accessories are in abundance, hardware and housing goods have most of what someone needs and the kitchen section has a lot of average equipment to great stuff depending on what you need. For example, the knife selection is horrible but mixers are just as good as anywhere else. I do all of my vitamin and specialty medicine (not prescription) from Target as it's the cheapest. Overall, Target is exactly what you expect anywhere and that's by design. The only real differences are subtle things that regionally might sell better at one place then another state won't offer a product as it won't make sense. Think of a heavy winter coat for sale in Texas - it isn't needed. Other than those items, it's Target so you already know what you want.
