Most of the items were out of stock and the rest were under lock and key. Santa Barbara has gone down the tubes since I moved away from Cali in 2015! Even inexpensive items were locked up, not just cold medicines. The two cashiers were friendly. Not particularly helpful, but nice at least to each other. Seriously I had no problem with the cashiers. It was just creepy to be in Santa Barbara and feel like there could be looting any minute. It's not like I was downtown Los Angeles. But then I went next door to a jewelry store and he had a blockade at his door, a sign that insisted I show my ID and take off hat and sunglasses so it's not just CVS it's the area. read more

We had the most amazing experience with Daisy and Irvine. We were picking up a prescription that was going to be nearly $1000, which we could not afford to buy. They told us that they had a discount coupon that they would be happy to apply. When they did, it brought the cost down to about a 10th of the original cost. We can't thank them enough for guiding us through this and helping us out. We are so grateful and will always come back to this Cvs on Carrillo Street in Santa Barbara. read more

This particular CVS is one of the ONLY stores in all of Santa Barbara that has a small corner of black hair products, including frontal and closure products. Only store in Santa Barbara that sells wig caps (both light and dark brown, lace melt bands, durags, and other black hair products. Pharmacists don't care about you or your time nothing ever comes out correct or on time. Better off somewhere else

Over the past few years, I've noticed the quality at CVS declining significantly, and today's experience reinforced that. My doctor accidentally sent my prescription to another pharmacy, and since it was an urgent matter (as my condition can lead to blindness), I needed assistance resolving the issue quickly. Unfortunately, the staff at this location showed no sense of urgency or concern. Instead, they informed me it would take a couple of days and seemed more focused on emphasizing that they needed to go to lunch. These employees seem unfit for healthcare, where empathy and efficiency are critical. To make matters worse, one of the staff members was wearing a cloth mask -- an inadequate choice for a healthcare worker who should know better the difference between a cloth and a Level 3 or higher protective mask. CVS has become an embarrassment to the healthcare field. I expect better from a company entrusted with people's health and well-being. P.S. The CVS in Pismo Beach got my Rx in an hour. It comes to say it's about people. CVS, please be more selective with your employees! The ones at Santa Barbara location don't belong in a pharmacy. read more

This is the SORRIEST pharmacy I have had to unfortunately interact with EVER. I'm talking about the one at 222 Carrillo St. in Santa Barbara. It is one of the pharmacies I'm sure you could not FIND because although I LIVE HERE, I had to look for it for about 10 minutes to find it and post a review! Wonder what they have to hide. Hmmm.. Think I know. These pharmacists are so rude and unprofessional that I have literally been waiting for pain medication for a week after just getting out of hip replacement surgery. They do NOT have a phoneline available that a client can call to talk to a pharmacist. Only to leave a message which is exactly when you can start PRAYING that you get a call back within an hour (...yea, RIGHT). Unless you are a prescriber. If you press 2, your call will be answered. However brace yourself to be treated like a second hand citizen once they figure it out and they'll spend more time arguing with you than helping you. the workers there are working against impossible odds and doing an amazing job with what they have. it kills me to hear that they are closing this CVS. down town will now be a desert for drug stores. since I work and live downtown this is really a huge blow. the folks who work in the pharmacy have always gone above and beyond to help me get my medication sorted. the pharmacist yesterday managed to help me get my emergency meds filled, get my insurance company to pay and was kind enough to help me put in a coupon that brought the total down from $1200 to Zero! I know decisions were made to abandon this store a long time ago before I even knew of the change but the city and CBS really SHOULD NOT be closing this store. we really NEED this CVS on state street. read more

I suffer from long-term chronic pain from multiple sources and can't use NSAIDs so I have a high tolerance for some pain medication. I broke my hip at the airport in Chicago. Used my girlfriend as a crutch through two airports. Sat on a plane for four hours plus then in a car for three hours of traffic to get back from LAX. Then spent five hours at the ER. I used up most my existing (weak) pain medication just to get through everything. The pharmacist at this CVS, Kara, refused to fill my prescription from the emergency room doctor even though it was a completely different (stronger) medication, because I still had a few of the (weaker) pills left. She was a condescending jerk about it. As far as I'm concerned they don't deserve my business while she works there. read more

This has been my pharmacy for several years, and every time I call or go in, the folks at the pharmacy counter are helpful and pleasant. Having done quite a bit of customer service desk work myself, I know how challenging it can be. I imagine it's more difficult when dealing with customers who are in a bad mood because they're not feeling well themselves or because they're acting as caregivers, which can be so stressful, so kudos to the Carillo CVS pharmacy staff for handling it all so well. read more

Finally had to go to the store several times to get iot filled correctly. A worse issue getting the script transferred back to my home state a month later. The automated phone setup is horrible. The pharmacy has not been the best in the past, but I went yesterday and the woman behind the counter was so sweet. This guy kept complaining about how long it was taking to get his prescription, but it took him maybe 10 minutes from the time he arrived. The lady was really nice to everyone, including the guy being difficult. My prescription was also filled in about an hour from leaving my doctor's office, so they've definitely improved on timing! I was confused about something my doctor prescribed for me and the pharmacist took their time to explain to me what it was and why it was unavailable at that moment. Overall, staff was nice and helpful which seems to reflect a big change in the previous reviews this CVS has gotten. read more

I recommend skipping this pharmacy if at all possible. They are always ridiculously behind, which means someone needs to seriously figure out their staffing/scheduling needs. I spent an hour here waiting for them to verify my information with my insurance despite them telling me they were going to call the day prior when I dropped off my prescription. Then after 45 minutes they tell me to call my insurance. There's no phone service in this place so I had to go outside to do so. I asked if they could place the call to the pharmacy. Pharmacist asked me to sit down and wait and she would call. 10 minutes later she hasn't called. I asked again and she said she was just very behind. I let her know they told me they were going to verify my insurance member ID yesterday when I dropped off. She asks me to wait again. I go outside and call my insurance and they tell me they will call the pharmacy directly. I go back inside and hear the call come in and NO ONE PICKS IT UP. Pharmacy call keeps repeating. At this point I'm getting really upset and rightfully so. It's been an hour and fifteen minutes. All they needed to do was call my insurance company. There were no customers. But instead of handling it the pharmacist kept going through her log of work. It should not take this long to pick up a perscription that has already been filled. I wish this was an offshoot but this type of service is so regular at this place. Something needs to change. It's ridiculous. read more

When a prescription of mine was no longer being manufactured and they ran out in the facility, they tracked down an existing dosage at another location, and put it on hold for me. It also seems like the prices have been climbing and rarely do I find any good deals here anymore. The pharmacy staff is great here. Instead of being apologetic they were rude and acted as if I was inconveniencing them. If this wasn't the most convenient drugstore between the bus stop and my house, I would never come here. Somehow, it manages to be the most depressing drugstore I've ever been to, and the customer service... ugh. Today, I came in to get some dish soap with the added hope of finding a boxed set of holiday cards. The soap was easy enough, though the selection was pretty sad, and then I thought I got super lucky with the cards when I saw a "All Hallmark boxed cards 50% off" sign directly in front of the cash register. I meticulously picked out the last box of Charles Shulz Peanuts cards, thrilled they were half off. When the cashier rang them up, they rang up for full price. The exchange that followed between myself and the cashier went like this: Me: Hmm... aren't those supposed to be half off? There's a sign right there. (Pointing very helpfully to the sign 50 ft in front of her) Cashier: I don't know. It rang up as that. Me: Um... really? The sign is right there. (Pointing to the sign, that she could clearly see, again) Cashier: Do you want me to ask my manager? (Not without a hint of attitude) **At this point a minute or so had passed, and a line was forming behind me.** Me: You know, that's fine. I don't want them. But you should check that out in case this happens again to someone else. Cashier: (With even more attitude) Like I said, do you want me to ask my manager? Me: (Looking at the line behind me) No, I don't. I'll just take my soap. I paid my $1.07 for the soap and left without the cards, and feeling more than a little irritated. I mean, I know the economy is depressed. I'm a grad student. I'm poor. I get it. Jobs are hard to come by. Is it too hard to ask that people with jobs do them decently without antagonizing the customer? An adequate/average CVS - adequately stocked, decent salespeople. But the pharmacy is not so great...they take forever to do extremely simple tasks, and then lines form extremely quickly while you're tapping your toes waiting, etc. I know they are slow b/c I've been to pharmacies all over the country, and I just find it unacceptable. I went to pick up prescriptions on 8/22/19 that were renewed by my physician online. These have been previously refilled at this location with out too much problem. I had 2 prescriptions for myself and 2 for my husband that were being refilled. One of my husbands was filled with my name on it and marked "new, request a consult". I was told by the clerk that it was the correct med, just the wrong name. He suggested I go ahead and accept it and give the pills to my husband! I, of course, refused his suggestion and asked to have it redone with my husbands name on it. Please check your meds before paying for them and the names that are on the containers. An older person could get confused and take something that is not theirs. IT IS DANGEROUS!! I will not be using this CVS location again for prescriptions. read more

Convenient location, but the store is a lot smaller than others within Santa Barbara County, and there are tons of homeless around this one as well as a tiny parking lot which makes it frustrating. I had the worst experience. I was looking for an apple charger all over the store because I was visiting in town and I needed one. There was a long line and I literally waited for a while. The cashier was so rude. I asked him about chargers and the sign displayed 5.99 so I said ok I'll take that. He rang it up and it was $15. I asked how come it says 5.99 here and he says it's because that's for android only and I said well I need an apple one where are the apple ones? And he was acting like I didn't know what charger was for my iPhone, like patronizing me and so I was looking for them while I had my stuff I didn't move from the register and then he just called the next customer while I was still up there. I was like in still here?? What the heck?! There was a long line still so I didn't wanna get back in line and I asked him where are the apple chargers there isn't any here on the display box? And he just pointed it's behind the lady over there. And just started talking to the cashier next to him. It was such an awful experience. I looked everywhere and I didn't see any at all around the store, he probably just wanted me to get out of line. I was in town visiting family and needed to have my daughters' meds refilled so I transferred to this location. They informed me over the phone that it would be 6 hours at the earliest that my request would be filled as they were very busy. I arrived an hour before closing I arrived to pick up the prescription. The Pharmacist asked the purpose of my giving this particular medication to my 7 year old daughter, I explained the reason to which he replied "Umm yeah that is not what this medication is supposed to be used for so I am afraid I cannot give this to you." I explained that my daughter is living with Rett syndrome and that her Neurologist had prescribed this for her months ago and we had been filling our 'scrips at CVS in Sherman Oaks for months. He attempted to correct me "I believe you mean Tourette's, ma'am." I then explained that no, I did not mean TOURett's and my daughter had been in fact diagnosed with RETT syndrome - he began "correct" me over and over again that because he had never heard of Rett syndrome I was mistaken and obviously I meant TOURett's and there was no way he would be giving me the medication because HE did not believe it was being used properly. EXCUSE ME, but since when do Pharmacists argue with parents over their child/ren's diagnosis?? And SINCE WHEN do they question and refuse to fill a prescription that was ordered by a Medical DOCTOR!?!?!?! Needless to say this turned in to a screaming match. Once he looked up Rett Syndrome on his "smartphone" and looked up how this medication was used for children living with Rett syndrome he "decided" to go ahead and give me the medication. It took me nearly an HOUR of fighting and arguing while my child was at home desperately needing her medication. Pharmacist Hameed (not sure of the spelling of his name but that is his name) was awful and perhaps needs better training! The Store Manager was not interested in hearing how awful I was treated in his store. I am NOT a competitor. I have had so many bad experiences with the front store staff that I finally called customer service at corporate. The store manager called me back to say he was sorry, but nothing changes. Maria, the clerk behind the counter was so disengaged, had a foul look on her face and was playing with the inventory counter while 4 people waited in line.
