I came into a different location with a pre-diabetic family member who urgently needed to use the restroom and sadly ended up having an accident after being denied access. I don't hold it against this location or the staff, as they're likely following policy, but it's unfortunate and speaks to the times we're living in. Safeway takes 3 to 4 days to fill a prescription, that is, if they have it in, which they often do not. It is rare that you can get into their website to learn anything and if you try to call them it is even rarer that they pick up the phone. Further, actual pickup is a nightmare. Because I am ill much of the time, my husband has to go for me. Even when we are led to believe that a prescription is ready, invariably it is not and we are told to step aside and wait, sometime as much as over a half an hour. Other times, he has been sent away to come back and told upon returning that you are out of the medication. That is insane. And sometimes, as happened two weekends ago, they cannot even fulfill a commitment they give him right there at the counter. He was told Friday morning, that the prescription would be ready late that afternoon; he told them that he may not be able to make it back at the end of the day and asked if he could pick up the prescription the next morning, Saturday. The person at the counter said yes. So, he arrived at around 11:15 on Saturday morning and they told him it was not ready and told my husband to come back later. That is outrageous and insulting. The only reason I give them 2 stars rather than 1 is because they are usually nice when you go in. They claim to be understaffed, so I do not want to put any blame on the employees, but I wish so much that my health plan gave me an alternative that didn't cost me a fortune to switch to.

I don't know who trained the staff on customer service, but it is certainly lacking. There is a Safeway app, but the staff says "we have nothing to do with it." So, why have it. We get text messages that say our medications are ready, only to wait up to 45 minutes to hear that they are not done and "don't pay attention to those messages." I miss Khang at Rite-Aid. Update 6/16/26 I had another bad experience with bad…read morecustomer service and incompetency. Tech Banessa arrives in a hurry at 9:01am and the pharmacy is supposed to be open at 9:00am. She did open it at around 9:05am. While she was getting ready to open, she moves a full waste basket. It seems like it is not healthy at a pharmacy to open the pharmacy with a waste basket that needs to be emptied. They should get it worked out better with emptying the waste baskets. Last Saturday I contacted the pharmacy and a male pharmacist said they had not received the prescription. I assume it was a pharmacy error and he should have been able to find it. He told me to contact the Dr.'s Office. I had to deal with an idiot at the Dr.'s Office and a new AI System before I was able to get the prescription filled. I told Tech Banessa I do NOT want auto refills and then the screen asks about auto refills and she says to say yes. I just told her I did not want auto refills. Was she in la, la land? She should not be telling customers how to answer the questions unless they ask.
