Today the wife and I got our new 2025-26 Moderna Covid booster and senior flu shot at the CVS Pharmacy located at 801 Oakdale Rd Ste F in Modesto. My wife also got her first shingles shot. The whole process was smooth and easy. We had made an appointment online and once at the pharmacy desk there is a vaccine checkin window so there is no waiting behind a line of people dealing with prescription issues. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. Validating insurance was a snap and in ten minutes we were on our way having gotten 5 shots between us. This is my go to store for convenience and the staff are usually very pleasant and friendly. However, I was extremely disappointed in how I was treated today. I went in to buy some makeup and was crouched by the display reading the shade names of a product, an employee came up to me and very rudely asked if I needed assistance. When I did not immediately respond he asked me if I spoke English as I am darker skinned. When I replied that I did not need assistance he left but hovered right around the corner. I felt harassed and generally disappointed by the racial profiling. read more

My favorite CVS for cosmetics, snacks, vaccinations, and other frivolities. (I don't have prescriptions anywhere.) In the hellscape that is 2023 retail, this CVS consistently is well-stocked and looking tidily abundant, has reasonably accurate shelf tags, and has working self-checkout machines. Staff are always pleasant. Pharma did my last covid vaccine update efficiently and painlessly. The major reason I'm not going 5 stars is that I don't want you going in expecting it'll be the retail experience from before 2020, because nothing anywhere is. I regret getting my prescription filled here. I recently got a new prescription here and wanted a consultation on how to properly take it. For example, if I need to take it with food, or if It was going to interact with any other medications. Also, I wanted to know what side effects to expect taking it. The woman who consulted me seemed to not want to answer my questions, and basically made me look stupid as she just read the instructions on the package and went on to do what she needed to do. I just didn't feel welcomed and I felt as if I did something wrong coming in an hour before they close. What concerned me most was that my prescription was given to be in a plastic ziplock bag instead of the box that it was meant to come in. I was going to ask about that, but I was already uncomfortable about being there to begin with. read more

15 years been going here since I was first diagnosed with Lupus never had a problem till this year!!!! 4 months outta 8 my prescription refill "was not in stock" then for the past two months they can't tell me when they will be in stock. I've been hospitalized from complications of not having my prescription refilled. I've never missed my medication but now all of a sudden I get no explanation or alternative or help an estimate of when to check back.Its not like I can switch pharmacy, other CVS won't take new clients! Ok I gave four stars because they have some really awesome employees! They have a great pharmacy team and some great cashiers. I have been going to this location for many years and in the beginning I'll admit the customer service was hit or miss. I like the deals but the receipts are freakishly long! You can score some great deals with a little planning and research! I wish I knew the names of the shining stars but I will say my interactions with the pharmacists have been great! read more

I've been coming to this CVS for about 5 years now. I live right down the street, so it's nice to be so close. I've been using this pharmacy for about 2-3 years now and have never had a problem. Whenever I drop off a prescription they always ask if I'm gonna wait around or come back. I love that they have the automatic refill option and if you don't pick it up on a certain date they have an automated reminder that calls you. Sometimes they don't always have what I'm looking for but they let you know that their trucks come on Thurs. and to always check back them or get a raincheck. The cashiers are always friendly when you walk in. They always greet you and tell you that if you need help finding something just ask. read more

I have had a chronic pain problem for 18 years after a botched Surgery. I had been getting my prescription filled there for about a year when the Pharmacist said it was too much. Pharmacy Tech's are cool but you can tell they don't like certain pharmacist's. This place used to be pretty decent but has changed in the past few years and not for the better. They never answer the phone and when they do they put you on hold. Some of the Tech's have rude demeanor but that could just be a cultural issue. The pharmacist is slow at dispensing pills, say they will have your medication ready and it's never ready. It's always 30 more min. The voice recorder over the phone is always messed up and will give you another person's name. They finally covered up all there prescription patient information (HIPPA) but it still look likes like a disorganized mess or fire hazard waiting to happen. Needless to say I can't keep doing this and will move on. read more

I would give a negative review if I could and have him go to human relations and communication courses if I could and if he denied revoke the license. I did self check out with my coupons and their machine froze so I had to go to the register and I asked help with my coupon and why it didn't apply for the specific product the coupon was for?. They were so confused and said "maybe because you can't use it." How does a coupon for a specific product can't be used ?!?! Sangeeta doesn't know how to do her job when it comes to pick up pain meds and every time she ran my dad's medical card said that the card has been declined and expired and then when my dad called the medical insurance people they said it wasn't expired. And she called me and my dad a liar! Wtf?! How dare she! She is inept about doing her job! And my dad never had any problems with other pharmacy technicians. When my dad gave the medical card to other technicians it would go through. But when Sangeeta does it she always said that the card was no good and expired. This pharmacy has no customer service skills. I called trying to get a prescription filled that was sent over by my physician. The person I spoke with transferred me over to the pharmacist w/o telling me so I didn't know who I was speaking to or why. I explained my situation to the pharmacist, that I was trying to fill a prescription from out of town because I am here for work until the end of the month and didn't want to drive 200 miles round trip to fill my prescription. The pharmacist said they would not fill my prescription because I am from out of town because it is a controlled substance which I don't understand why that would make a difference if it is being sent over directly from my physician. The pharmacist was extremely rude, I was asking what I needed to do in order to get my prescription filled and she said she will call and take care of it but that I would need to fill it at another CVS because she refused to help me. I thanked her for her stating she would call and take care of it and she made some kind of smart remark to me thanking her which I didn't quite hear so I asked her what she said and she stated "nothing" and hung up on me. Since they want to refuse my business i will no longer be doing business with any CVS store ever again. I will be contacting the corporate office in Monday regarding this incident. read more

I came to this location this afternoon to pick up a couple of groceries. The only reason why I give two stars was because of the price eggs ($1.49/dozen). They had Nature Valley protein bars for 2/$7, so I decided to get a couple of boxes. After the cashier rang up my total, just before I was about to swipe my credit card, I noticed the sale price for the protein bars didn't apply when I looked at the computer screen. I called her on it, and she couldn't figure out why the discount wouldn't apply. She told me that it might be because I had two different flavors, but I told her there was no indication on the sale price tag that you have to have the same flavor to get the discount. Usually, you don't have to get the same flavor of anything for a discount like that to apply, as long as you have the same quantity for both items (i.e., two boxes consisting of six bars each). Again, she was clueless as to why that was the case. I had to run back and get another flavor while she rang up other customers, whom she was still ringing up when I got back. I had to wait in line to be rung up again! I see why CVS stores everywhere are going downhill: Their employees are fucking morons! read more

I feel disrespected, abused and cheated! Sangeeta charged me for medication and refused to give it to me. I asked for one vial of my wife's insulin and was under the impression that I was going to get it. After paying for the vial, Sangeeta rudely claimed that I was paying for a vial that they loaned my wife earlier. LOANED? My wife was given a "free" vial last week due to CVS screwing up her medication! "FREE!" There was no mention of a loan. The word used by CVS staff was "FREE." A loan program does not make sense. Why would a store loan out prescription medication? Why did they not ever offer it when we could not afford my wife's insulin before? Besides that, I asked for one vial and was not given the opportunity to collect the one vial. I was charged for a product that I did not receive. My wife needs her insulin! Once the Pharmacy Manager felt like getting involved, she would not allow me to speak. Where is the customer service at? Does CVS train their employees to be this way? read more

I am forced to use CVS by my insurance. Prescriptions are not ready when called in hours before. Yesterday I was given 3 pills of 6 prescribed, and have to go back today for the rest. This is a pretty common medication, but they ran out. There is always a wait to pick up and drop off, although there seems to be lots of people scurrying around behind the counter. News flash: people don't like to wait, especially when they are sick. Lastly, you can go into this store at 9:00 in the morning, and it needs to be vacuumed. When can a managing pharmacist refuse to fill a prescription? A legitimate prescription that I've had filled for approximately three years. I was told that as the managing pharmacist can refuse me my pain medication because he feels like the strength of the tablets "is too high" for me. When I questioned the pharmacist on how he can override my physician's rx orders, he stated "because I can"! Now, on today's national news on TV, the report was about CVS pharmacists in particular, and how they do have a moral and/or religious reason for denying someone's meds. This is legal in many states. California NOT being one of them. The report also stated that if a pharmacist has a problem due to moral or religious issues, they can hand over the rx to a different pharmacist. Therefore not going against his/her beliefs. Which is fine. But here in California, there is no rule in place. Sure, I can take this particular prescription to another pharmacy, which I have done, and gotten my meds easily. What I don't like doing is, using multiple pharmacies to fill several meds that I'm legitimately prescribed. I'm a 60 year old who takes meds for diabetes, COPD, congestive heart failure and a couple of others as well as the methadone that I desperately need for painful degenerative back bones. I am not a drug abuser. I do fill my Rx on the same date if each month. It doesn't mean I've run out due to over use. I do it so that I don't run into problems filling the Rx. It doesn't matter what my physician orders. What he orders are legitimate prescriptions! I resent that a pharmacist can take my health into his own hands, and according to HIS beliefs, decide to refuse me my medications!!!!!! With the type of pain I have, it's very difficult to do daily activities due to the severity of the pain. It angers me that a pharmacist feels that his word has more meaning than an actual medical physician. Is there anyone out there who can advise me of my rights regarding this issue. Beside going out to other pharmacies that makes me look like I'm pill shopping. I'd prefer to have ALL my Rx's filled at one pharmacy. Not to mention having to drive all over town to locate the Rx I need. I thoroughly love the store apart from the pharmacy department. I like to buy my cosmetics, greeting cards, soaps, detergents, etc....at CVS. But for pharmacy supplies I send my husband. He has a little more patience than I do for the ignorant reception I get there. For these other supplies, I give the store all five stars. These employees are always courteous and very helpful.
