January 10, 2025 | Brentwood: While checking on a friend near the area, we stopped at CVS on San Vicente last night to pick up a few items. We suddenly noticed parts of the area was being evacuated. Kind staff & quite friendly woman at the register. She offered free N95 Masks as we were checking out. Thanks again, so sweet & thoughtful, as there was a light snow furry of ashes outside falling from the sky. Holiday-Ready: This location is definitely Valentines's Day ready! There were so many plushies (Hello Kitty), heart-shaped chocolate boxes (one w/red sequins) & a variety of other chocolates, as well as cute candles! (Dog paw candle w/cute sayings)! Location: Older location. Very busy! When the line got longer, someone opened another register right away! We noticed cars covered with ash, as we were in the parking lot. Huge parking lot too. Good CVS. Can get busy. I had a vaccine appt, checked in on my phone around 12:30 pm on a Saturday. Was grateful I had the appt cuz I was called back around 12:39 but it was very busy back there so I'm guessing I would've waited closer to an hour if I had just walked in. I tend to find most items more expensive in CVS than at Ralph's and Target but for being a CVS it was clean and standard. I appreciate the free parking lot and that it's open late to pick up prescriptions in the evening. read more

Caring for multiple family members with Alzheimer's is hard enough but when you compound it with a rude pharmacist and a technician it really increases the stress for the people that are just trying to help the people they care for. I love this store! I'm not sure why it only has two stars but I've been getting prescriptions there for a year. Today was my first time in the store. It's huge, well stocked and very clean! It's worth the drive from Woodland Hills! Let's talk about the pharmacy. Every time I've called about confusion re meds (believe me, it's almost weekly), not only do they call back quickly but they are always patient and informative. Prescriptions are prompt. Plus, the store has so many ppl behind the pharmacy counter. I was in a long line, that would've taken an hour at the WH location. Less than five minutes! They also have a line for the mobile pick ups! I can't say enough about this store, especially compared to the terrible one in WH. Highly recommend! read more

I some how got a live person on the phone from the front of the store and they couldn't even get me transferred to the pharmacy. Or acted like they couldn't. Customer service, both live and AI sucks. At this location, the pharmacy staff isn't exactly rude, but they are at best perfunctory with few smiles or positive feeling tone. They're either overwhelmingly busy and can't be bothered with being nice, or they just don't care about it. Either way, I'm glad I'm just here for a month and don't have to use this place regularly. Additionally, today I went to get a vaccine (which CVS allowed me to schedule at this location), and they had none of the vaccine, and there wasn't going to be any. They said it was "on order", but I knew that wasn't true when the woman helping me went to ask the other pharmacist about it, and she said, "I've never seen it." Clearly, not on order if no one has ever seen it. I went to a Walgreen's nearby, they also did not have the vaccine, but said they'd order it and it'd be there later today or tomorrow am. That made me believe CVS's claim that it was "on order" was just a bunch of baloney. If Walgreen's can get it in less than a day, CVS should be able to as well...except their pharmacists lie about it being on order to cover their butts. read more

COOL UNDER PRESSURE - ALWAYS POLITE & COMMITTED TO HELP PHARMACY PATIENTS/CUSTOMERS. THIS IS ONE OF THE BUSIEST CVS pharmacies I have seen in NJ, FL, MA and CA. I seldom find fewer than 6 customers per CVS cashier. Every one of the 10-12 Pharmacy cashiers I have dealt with are respectful, helpful and committed to helping customers. It is not easy to handle the "rush hours" in Thea pharmacy which come early morning, lunch and later afternoon 4-7:00 pm. Although there are other tasks in slower moment, the line can double or triple quickly.dedication to clients is evident to me when I have seen the head pharmacist log in to a register when the line gets beyond 10-12 waiting. Some customers are not always polite and are often in a hurry and stressed. But the entire team San Vicente are doing a valiant job with surges that are enervating and it must be hard not to push back on unreasonable customers who are impatient and rude. read more

Most of these large-brand drug stores are pretty similar and they usually staff the stores and pharmacies with minimal number of clerks - as few as they can get by! Workers are often under a lot of pressure to keep the store clean/organized and help the customers. This store stands out to me due to their nice cosmetic section- clean and neat with a large selection! Free samples too! We came for vaccination during the very popular early evening hours. I am impressed by how the staff multi-task to help everyone while they seem a bit understaffed. read more

I am in genuine disbelief at the incompetence of the pharmacy staff here. They put my medication-a controlled substance-on someone else's profile and DISPENSED IT TO THEM several months ago. Not only is that highly illegal, but it's also wildly dangerous and they're lucky they didn't kill someone. I only found this out after going to the pharmacy three separate times, the final time bringing a paper copy of my doctor's prescription which one of the techs verified was put into a different profile by accident and dispensed. It took over three weeks for me to actually get my medication which I've been prescribed for years and rely on to function properly. Because I'm lazy, I continued going back to this CVS for several months after that happened. Today, I found out that they completely lied about two PAs being rejected by Blue Shield for the past 3 months. Blue Shield approved both PAs in November-3 days after their submission. It's my own fault for taking so long to check to Blue Shield website, but after seeing that on my account today and speaking to the staff (who pretended not to see the PA approval) I've officially switched pharmacies. TLDR: don't go here if you actually want to receive your prescriptions, because you won't. But maybe someone else will! read more

Since the pandemic due to COVID-19 I have been having my Rx prescriptions delivered to my home. Social distancing and sheltering in place. My local CVS pharmacy on San Vicente does a great job! I put in my renewal order via the CVS app and pay for it when it's ready and you can chose delivery option. What I love now that I noticed today when I got mine in the mail is that they are now using recycled brown paper bags for your prescriptions to come in. Not the bottle but the bag they put it in! Great step to save paper and be eco-friendly! They should do that as well for the Rx description notes that they staple to the bag. I end up with a ton of those too. Also if we they can come up with a way to recycle these plastic bottles out prescriptions come in each time. I end up with a whole bunch! And looking on Pinterest for hacks how to re-purpose these little orange bottles with white caps! read more

It's crowded, in West LA, near Santa Monica, four miles from the beach. And the lines are long. Plan to spend 30 minutes, stoop low and reach high. Cashiers talk to one another, but don't look at you. Only the security people look. I was there,,, looking at the bottom shelf, on the floor with my body folded at an impossible angle; when a security person came up and startled me. He started asking me questions . He was little help and sent me out .. when I returned to grab the Benadryl, they shoved another bottle of pills in my hand. The right ones, this time. Lol. Still, these are minor inconveniences, considering they seem to have everything. It is very very well stocked. I seem to find everything I need whenever I go in that store. These workers are clueless. After calling to ask to check on product inventory, they put me on hold for 7 minutes, which is fine, and they told me I had them. When I arrived, there was nothing in inventory. When I asked for help finding it, the woman in the beauty section asked me repeatedly what the person on the phones name was after I repeatedly said I didn't know and have a hearing impairment. She continued to lecture me on how they always say their names, etc, and I continued to inform her of my hearing disability. Then when I got to the cashier, the guy who answered the phone, denied it, but confirmed the store address that was listed with the phone #. Phone service is abominable. In the last two days, I've been hung up on three times and waited on hold for over forty minutes (without it being answered). Prescriptions that should be filled under Medicare Part B, for no charge, are instead being processed under Part D, costing many hundreds of dollars. When I show up in-person, lines are frequently long and slow. That's a function of both staffing and when I can get in there. It's also not unusual to wait in one line and then to have to wait in another when something isn't ready or is just plain wrong. Honestly the worst pharmacy I've ever been to. They never answer their phone, they're under staffed when you come in, and you'll never complete your business within ten minutes. Why they don't hire more people to work this branch is one of the great mysteries in life. But since our healthcare system is so messed up, we've somehow enabled these idiots to be the gatekeepers for the medications you need to live. Why is this acceptable? Don't blame the staff, as much as you can, blame whatever regional manager assigns headcount for these stores. My only hope is that said corporate lackey will read this when they're not kicking their dog or stealing candy from children, and this new emotion they feel, which we other humans call "empathy," makes them realize they're horrible at their job and making people's lives harder. I have tried for the last hour to speak to someone in the pharmacy about a prescription that was supposed to be called in. I didn't receive any message from CVS about my prescription so I wanted to check they received it since I was supposed to start taking it as soon as possible. Despite spending an hour on the phone, I was unable to speak with anyone in pharmacy. Their automated answering machine could not help me and instead kept telling me to download their app. I did and of course, the app doesn't have this new prescription tied to it -- which is why I was calling. Three times I was able to get transferred to the pharmacy where the phone would ring for about 2 minutes and then sound like it was picked up. Unfortunately, despite saying hello 10+ times, I was met with silence. I understand this is a first world problem, but it is incredibly frustrating to be sick and to be met with this when you're just trying to verify that the persciprtion was received. I moved the prescription via my doctor, but will now be waiting longer than if CVS actually functioned as a pharmacy. I would avoid this store as much as possible. read more

CHAPTER TWO - Why I'm No Longer A CVS Customer (If you haven't read CHAPTER ONE, please scroll down.) OK, next closest CVS is this store AND according to Yelp, it's a 24-hour CVS. GREAT the store's close. Hopped in the car and while hubby piloted, I called and actually talked to a real human being in the pharmacy, explained the situation, that we were on our way but was told, "The pharmacy closes at 7:00PM on Sundays. You'll have to go to CVS Santa Monica Boulevard and 26th Street." It was 6:50PM. All that person had to do was get the prescription number, fill it and it would have been ready by the time we arrived in less than 5-minutes. Or if that wasn't possible, to take the refill info for pick up Monday. The good news is that the refill we needed if a dose was missed wasn't life threatening. We were just trying to keep the med's timing on schedule. The bad news is we were treated poorly by an employee with a time clock mentality and a total lack of civility. Customer service RIP... CVS Brentwood - Pharmacy of Last Resort Gets Even Worse - Bait and Switch on Flu Vaccine Last year, I had a battle with this pharmacy to get fresh gloves for a vaccine injection. I also had tried to get an RX filled, but could not make that happen. This year, I decided to give it one more shot. The waiting listing for the latest Covid shots was 1 - 2 weeks, so I went to a large warehouse store (Costco) on a walk-in basis. I wanted to wait 10 - 14 days to get the Sanofi Fluzone High-Dose Quadrivalent Flu vax and booked an appointment 10 days out. (Fun Fact: You can get both together, but most medical pros recommend a gap in case there is an adverse reaction so you know the source of the reaction.) I received a text reminder and text check-in. This year Grace Yun, the Pharmacy Manager, was administering the shots. I mentioned the problem last year with the gloves, and she said that the gloves were to protect her, not the patient, but agreed to change them for me. I VERIFIED THAT THE VAX WOULD BE SANOFI FLUZONE, AND SHE SAID THAT THEY RAN OUT, SO SHE WOULD BE USING ANOTHER BRAND. I PASSED. I asked her to check the out CVS's, and the only one that had it was in Westwood. I called them, and they were out, also. I GUESS THEY DON"T BELIEVE IN INFORMED CONSENT (WHICH IS BASICALLY HONESTY AND INTEGRITY). I asked to speak to the store manager and Adrian Llamos, Operations Supervisor, walked back to the pharmacy and said that the store really doesn't get involved in pharmacy issues and an investigation could takes weeks. I Googled the Sanofi and was able to do a walk-in at a major supermarket in Westwood (Ralphs), and it took less than 5 minutes plus 15 minutes of waiting for any adverse reactions. There were none. CVS Brentwood treats people poorly, fails to consistently follow standard health protocols, will do bait and switch on vaccines, and more, but, on a positive note, has adequate parking most of the time. read more

Needed over-the-counter pain medication at 12 midnight on Oct 1st. Only 1/2 mile from my home. Since late drove over and guess what? THEY WERE CLOSED.
