Unfortunately, Monica didn't seem to be up to date on the actual policy. As of April 2025, the DEA and HHS have officially extended the COVID-era telemedicine flexibilities through December 31, 2025. This means DEA-registered providers can legally prescribe Schedule II-V medications via telehealth without an in-person visit (under the right conditions, which mine met). I used to go in person every time, so I'm not trying to cut corners. I'm just asking for fair treatment and for pharmacists to stay informed--especially when people's health and well-being are on the line. We'll be taking our prescriptions elsewhere. Be careful--your access to necessary medication shouldn't come down to whether the person behind the counter has read the latest DEA memo.

Located a few blocks away from the still standing, empty store is this basically brand new location. Unlike the previous location, this one is sturdy. The last store shook with traffic passing by outside. This new location is bigger, brighter, and in my opinion in a better location. Ample parking if you have to drive here, even though you will pass several other Rite Aid locations to make your way downtown. It is more of a walking friendly store. Staff were friendly and ready to help. The one thing I can say a negative about is that they say that only one person can deal with passport photos. I find that this is a poor excuse and that any person that works the front of the store should be trained in taking an appropriate photo.

Contacted the pharmacy prior to having the script sent here and was told by the pharmacist they would fill it and have the medication in stock. Prescription arrived and the pharmacist refused to fill. Stated there is none in stock but it could be transferred to another pharmacy in stock - if I found one. I asked why she could not order it - as the company said there are no supply issues and her pharmacy has been ordering it regularly. She was shocked that the drug company would give me this information and said she never heard of that occurring before and she would be speaking to her manager about this concern. She continued to lie stating they don't have the medication, it is not in stock and refused to order/fill it. I contacted corporate and lodged a complaint, received nothing, called back, and requested it to be escalated. Was told I would be contacted by the region pharmacist in 1 week. Never received any calls/voicemail/response. Utilized a friendly/quick compound pharmacy in the area. My eyes are opening to how big pharma works and chain pharmacies are a thing of the past for me after this behavior.

But for an extensive grocery shopping you need to do, go to another location. Horrible to get into and out of this location and I have witnessed many near miss accidents at the intersection. Twice Ive been told in the last five months I dont have a refill only to have find out I did. Its been a week since I requested my first refill for omprazole and I still dont have it(not the other rx I requested that ive been on for two year). You will have to fight with them constantly. Nothing is ever ready on time and no one knows whats going on. They dont answer the phones and half the time dont seem to care. If you want medication regularly dont bother.

I only had two things I needed to pick up and I swear every time I go to a Rite Aid it is like a scavenger hunt. Really have no idea where an item might be because no two Rite Aid is alike. I, of course, ended up with more than the two items I had intentions on getting. Take a moment and check out items they have on sale, especially the seasonal items. You can find some good deals and stock up for next year. Currently, summer items were 50% off. I have to admit, I sometimes forget this location exists. I mean it is on a busy corner in Johnstown, but it is a stand alone store with nothing else really within distance to go to. Unless you want to take a long walk to the strip mall nearby with constant traffic.
