I was here in the evening and it was well lit and it was also relatively clean. The staff here were friendly and performed their tasks admirably. All in all, not a bad place to get gas (and those usual convenience store items). I am giving it three stars because while there is nothing wrong with this Circle K location, there is also nothing that sets this Circle K apart from other gas stations. Again, let's keep in mind three stars is average. And while I might want to find above average places to enjoy a meal or an evening out, a gas station can be three stars and still a satisfactory place to get the services and products they offer (in this case, gasoline for the car and maybe a cold bottle of water or soda). No complaints here, but I think three stars is still fair.

First, the parking situation. There is plenty, but the way in and out of it is treacherous. If you have a low-slung car, take it slow and go at an angle because it is pretty steep in places. Second, the traffic. As other yelpers have stated, this place is virtually impossible to get out of onto South shades Crest toward Helena or in from the same direction. Coming in and out on 150 is much easier, but I seldom see people going that direction from the station. Third, the service. I have always had a good experience with the attendants here. They are courteous and efficient. They deal with difficult customers with patience, but I wish they could open another line when that situation arises. Last but not least, the pricing. In short, this is in Hoover, so it is higher than the prices at similar places in Bessemer or McCalla, but still not outrageous. Worth it for the convenience if you live on this side of town.

At times, interactions have felt a bit rushed or as though assisting customers is more of an inconvenience than a priority. That said, during my most recent visit, I had a completely different experience that truly stood out. I was searching for a specific item and couldn't find it, so I asked an employee who was in the middle of stocking shelves for help. Instead of just pointing me in the right direction, she walked me over to the exact spot and showed me the product herself. She went even further by offering helpful advice, sharing that a family member had used the pre-surgical cleanser and accidentally ruined a washcloth, so she recommended using an older one. It was such a thoughtful and genuine moment of care, and I really appreciated her going the extra mile. I made sure to check her name badge so I could recognize her here. Her name was Nicole. I'm hopeful that more of the team can take a page from Nicole's approach. That level of attentiveness and kindness truly makes a difference in the customer experience.
