I ordered photos online and when I arrived to pick them up today at 2pm I was told that they are printing my photos and will be done immediately. I wait a couple minutes and a woman (a bit rude and annoyed for some reason) shuffles through the counter for a couple seconds then tells me that the machine is completely out of printer paper and that I will have to place another order tomorrow. I go home pretty annoyed but understand. I then get an email that my photos are ready to be picked up :-) I recieve this email at 230pm :-) I call the location to confirm this and a very nice gentleman tells me that my order went through and they were in fact stocked on paper but that there was a high volume of orders which caused the delay. I had a simple question when I went to pick up my prescription and the nice pharmacy technician sent me over to Sue, the pharmacist. Rather than answering my simple question, she kept on insisting I pay more for the alternative option - like when you go into a nail salon for a basic pedicure and the nail tech insists you spend more for a scrub and French tips when all you really wanted was a basic pedicure. I just wanted a simple answer to my question. The entire time she was talking to me, there was a glass window between us, so I couldn't really understand her. She got aggravated that I couldn't hear her, but all she had to do was take a step to the left and she wouldn't have been talking directly into a clear wall. Long story short, Sue should not be in a customer-facing role. She was condescending, rude and lacks sensitivity for patient care. read more

Bar far the worst! People that work there are miserable, not helpful and the manager is the most miserable of All! He checked me out, I ordered photos online and they printed put wrong, heads were cut off and images were bad quality, he told me it was basically my fault for doing it online but offered no assistance but even worse he over charged me after I had to throw 4 of my 8 prints away. No customer service at all! They were more concerned about getting the bathroom key for someone than their paying customer that is at their register. Walgreens from now on for sure! read more

Great CVS! This store is so clean and organized. The employees were friendly and the Manager Matthew was so helpful. I came here to pick up last minute items on the way to the beach. They had a great selection and the manager helped me find what I needed. There were a few odd customers walking around in the store that appeared to be homeless. I was told that this is an ongoing problem for this complex so maybe they should consider getting a security guard in the store. Regardless, if I lived closer I would shop here. read more

When I picked up my medication, the guy didn't call the other pharmacy to have it transferred like I requested when I called. I had to call the other pharmacy myself to get things taken care of here. I don't recommend this pharmacy and I won't be using them again. read more

The employees here are SO NICE. Within the first few minutes of walking in, I was greeted by the cashier, as well as another employee who was straightening out stock. Seconds after, I attempted to locate what I needed on my own before I gave up when I saw a third employee and asked her where I could find what I needed. With a smile, she told me where it was, AND she walked me there, even though it was only a few steps away and located in a obvious and visible area. At check out, the same cashier who greeted me upon entry, wanted to make sure I got my rewards points, so she asked me to provide her several alternative phone numbers that could have possibly be linked to the account. Granted, there was no one in line behind me, but even so, I would expect a cashier to input a number twice... maybe three times. But, nope! She kept going until I got tired of trying to remember all the different numbers I might have had over the past 15 years. I don't usually shop at CVS, but this location has my business if I ever need to return. read more

Very disorganized. Went in to buy a simple battery for my camera and the price was listed as $6. I went to the counter and the lady said $13. I told her it said $6 and when we checked it the batteries were on the wrong rack. I looked closer and all of the batteries were misplaced... not only is it disorganized but overpriced. I notice most of the reviews are for the pharmacy which I never use, but the store I do. They recently revamped the store but I actually liked the way it was before. I like the staff, as I come here often and they are always friendly and the recognition is appreciated. I prefer this location to the one on 17th Street although there is less selection and this store is smaller. This is quite a busy parking lot and it seems like madness sometimes. I just feel a warm fuzzy when I come here and it is my personal preference. read more

Unfortunately I have spent tens of thousands of dollars here. I get annoying automated messages at one point almost everyday. After all that business I have given this branch they sold me an expired by six months protein drink, clearly stated they remembered me buying it since I was filling prescriptions and asking questions about the product. I try and drink it and it's goo. Something's clearly wrong. I. Bring box in and am told to come back when managers in. Then come back and manager on duty Dolores says she's never seen me ( again 15 years and tens of thousands they have charged my insurance and thousands I have paid myself before deductibles and gives me hard time. I have been going to this cvs for pharmacy services for about a year. I guess it was mainly out of convenience since it's on my way home, but after a series of negative experiences at this location I decided to move my prescriptions over to the rite aid nearby on 17th st. My first problem is the super sketchy crowd of homeless people who wander in, out, and around the store. Some come in shoeless. Others come in smelling like death and urine. And some are very aggressive panhandlers that I'd be worried could get violent really quickly if they are denied your change and they happen to be in a fighting mood. Additionally I'll find people panhandling right outside the store trying to raise money to "save the polar bears" or something like that, only to see the same person come inside the location to buy alcohol once they've raised enough from the easily duped rich Newport women in yoga pants that stop by this cvs after their workouts. Next issues I have are with the pharmacy. First, I have two forms of med insurance, so I would always ask the pharmacist whenever I dropped off a medication to please use the insurance that would have me paying the least out of pocket. The pharmacist assured me they would, and I assumed they had been using that insurance. One day I went to a rite aid and asked the same of their pharmacist, and they must have actually checked to see which insurance covered my meds the most because my copay went from nearly $70 at cvs to $10 at rite aid when they actually used my other insurance. When I confronted the cvs pharmacist about this, he did not seem to care and tried to say it was my fault because I didn't tell them which insurance was cheaper. But how could I have told them that when they're the ones with that info and said that they could and would use whichever insurance made my meds cheaper? So frustrating and annoying that I had been wasting so much money paying much more for my meds than I should've been for the longest time. My next problem with the pharmacy was when I had a friend come visit me from Texas, and she needed a prescription filled that her doctor in TX had written for her. The cvs pharmacist looked at the prescription and said he'd have to have the TX doctor call to confirm the Rx, saying it was a new state law. Well it was already 7:30 pacific time meaning it was 9:30 in Texas, so there was nothing that could be done that night. Anyway, something about the way the pharmacist was acting made me question whether or not he'd made this policy up to avoid having to do a little extra work because it's an out of state Rx. So we went to the rite aid down the street, and they filled the out of state prescription that evening with no calls to doctors or any other hassle. The cvs pharmacist lied to get out of having to do a bit of extra work. So ridiculous. The final issue that made me part ways with this cvs for good is that they never seem to have my Rx in stock. And it's not like I'm using a rare or especially expensive medicine. It's a very common, cheap, generic medication that should be in stock at all times, especially if the pharmacy knows that I get monthly refills for it. So I've said goodbye to this cvs and I'm happy to be moving on. They can keep their lazy pharmacists and barefoot smelly homeless people, and I'll go to the rite aid down the street, where they always have my meds and you don't have to deal with the crazies and panhandlers like you would at this cvs location. I hope cvs will look at reviews for this location and clean house there with better trained pharmacists and maybe some form of security to keep the aggressive homeless from accosting you as you enter or leave the store. read more

I come here fairly frequent since my SO lives walking distance away. I usually buy random items like Chapstick or conditioner for my hair but I've also had a few prescriptions filled here as well. For the store: the employees here have always been extremely courteous, engaging me in conversation and overall doing a pretty good job with serving customers efficiently and in a friendly manner. I am honestly surprised by the negative reviews but most of them are old so I imagine all the great people here now might be new? The pharmacy: timely and friendly. The Pharmacist refuses to sell me Fresh Kote eye drops because she claims you need a prescription for them. They are only kept behind the counter because they cost about $40 a bottle and are easily stolen. These eye drops you have to use post LASIK eye surgery. It's funny that you need a prescription when I just bought them on amazon.com after cvs refuse to sell them to me. Thanks for making me wait for them to be shipped to me. After having customer service issues with another CVS Pharmacy in Costa Mesa, I decided to try a different location since I lived close to 2 of their stores. HUGE MISTAKE! The customer service here was even worse and they really treat people terribly in the pharmacy department of their store... Twice they called me to come in for my prescriptions and both times they weren't even ready and one time I went into their store on a Saturday evening at around 7pm to find out that they have now changed their weekend hours for Pharmacy. Additionally, there is a third CVS store in Costa Mesa that is open 24 hours but when I told them that I really needed the medicine they didn't tell me that I could go to their other local store to get it... A few days later I decided to complain to their corporate executives and I left messages for at least 6 different people and none of them even bothered to call me back. I then called the GM of that specific store and told him that I never heard from his DSM or any of the other executives that I left messages with and he said that he would contact the Pharmacy DSM right after our call and I should expect to hear from them very soon. Well that was over 2 weeks ago so I am confident that the CVS corporate attitude is that they lack concern or compassion for their customers!!! I suggest going elsewhere until they can straighten up their attitude!!! read more

This pharmacy is so difficult! I had an issue getting my prescription transferred from ANOTHER CVS, they were waiting on a fax even though the prescription information was in their system. They claimed they needed to SEE the prescription.. like they don't believe their OWN system?? If that's not enough, they've "lost" my refill information twice, so I show up and I have to wait for them to fill it even though I called ahead. My most recent headache comes because they won't refill my prescription because it's "expired" even though I have 4 more left, and my annual check up is a little later than last year. Seriously? Who ABUSES birth control.. just give me the medication. Why do they make things so difficult? HATE THEM. read more

I've been coming here for a long time. I like to pickup my prescription, browse the makeup section and take my time. I often spend $80-$100 each time. I usually have to use the restroom at some point. They no longer have a restroom for customers!!! What a joke! CVS bad move on your part. Staff is great, restrooms an issue due to homeless population and drug addicts constantly bathing and shooting up in them. Each time they destroy the bathroom and the staff must find time to clean up after them. City of Costa Mesa needs to provide public restrooms as this store is supplying restrooms for customers only and not every person that walks in. It's not a public restroom....... read more

I would like to recognize Imelda for being such a great help to me today. I had gotten the wrong prescription because there was some confusion about the birth control that I had been prescribed. I called about it this Friday. I went to pick it up today and I left without checking the bag. It was wrong and I was naturally frustrated. Imelda helped me straighten everything out and helped me be able to pick up my prescription at a different location that I had. She honestly could have refused to help me because I wasn't the most polite. I'm very grateful for her help. She was so nice. read more

This place is ok, it's one of those places, like the grocery store, that you just have to go to for certain things. I have to say the only reason I come here is out of convenience. Their prices are high and their return policy is ridiculous! I purchased 2 items and a few days later wanted to return them, I had the receipts, it had only been a few days since I purchased the items and they were both unused however, the cashier said she could not return them without the credit card they were purchase with. I didn't have this card so I asked to speak to a manager who said he could not do anything without the card, I even asked for store credit and he declined! He refuse to help me. This is just a ridiculous policy! If I have the receipt, I should be able to return my items! They sell gifts here and I even asked what do people do If they are returning a gift? And he said we can't do anything! Completely unacceptable and I will never shop here again, unless they change this policy and send me an apology. I'll be sure to let everyone know how rudely I was treated and not to shop here. read more

If for some reason they are out, they call me and let me know when it will be in. As for the app and the web site, they would be a one (1) star. Almost always greeted when I walk in, but that's the extent of the niceties. It's a dirty store, I watched a dog poop on the carpet in the store, and there's usually a drunk or drug addict roaming towards the restroom, but those aren't the ugliest parts of this store, the ugliest part is the pharmacy. The newer pharmacy team members are usually pleasant and upbeat, for the short period they are there, but the pharmacist and the pharmacy workers who have been there for some time are almost hostile, and definitely unhappy, overwhelmed, and rude. They, literally, seem angry that they have to do their jobs. They may not be able to get a job at a better pharmacy and feel trapped at this one. Basically, don't stress them out, go somewhere else. No one deserves to be treated unkindly when simply asking for someone to do their job. read more
