This particular pharmacy is the poster child for why people hate corporate takeovers of pharmacies. They are exceptionally slow, rude, distant, and unhelpful. On several occasions, they tried to get me to call for transfers when it is supposed to be them to call and some of them even refused to do it which I'm pretty sure it is not how it is supposed to go. I actually like perusing this store because they have a lot of products and options. However -- the pharmacy was so slow, I actually started going to a different location. When a bunch of the CVS's closed, a handful of their pharmacies merged into this location's pharmacy, including mine. I went from a quick drive thru location right by my house to this non-drive-thru location that always has a long line and a team that looks super stressed out. First of all the CVS itself is bad lately and super expensive. But let's talk about this minute clinic. $99 flu checkup is actually around $400. They run tests on you without asking then charge you for them. Watch out for the scammers! Take your scam and ram it up your probe hole. Also it takes much longer than a minute, or several minutes. You sit there for a half hour feeling like death, snotting all over your mask just to wait to see the first girl who runs a bunch of tests that have nothing to do with your sickness. Then you wait in that room to see the doctor. Who is actually nice, but has to reveal the price to you. Seems like it's all healthcare these days, just beware. read more

This CVS is just weird. There are many CVS locations in the area (though not as many as there once were), and you can usually expect the same level of service at any of them. Not amazing, but passable. This CVS is the exception. They seem to have too many employees - I don't know another CVS location where there is literally someone staring at you every time you use self-checkout. Now you'd think this might be a good thing, because there would always be someone to help you if something goes wrong, right? Nah. I had self-checkout glitch on me once and there were 3 employees with a 10 foot radius and they all ignored me for several minutes. Another time the self checkout glitched and one of the many grumpy old women working there basically accused me of stealing (my purchase was $7). My favorite experience on the self checkout was when an employee actually reached over my shoulder to select the "no receipt" option because she seemed to feel I was taking too long gathering my things. Excuse me?! I did want a receipt!! I live almost right across the street from this CVS and I hate going here. I can't recall a time I've had a bad experience at any another CVS, but it's a frequent occurrence at this one. Also, none of the employees are ever remotely pleasant. No one says "hello" or "have a nice day" - bare minimum customer service. All the negative things others have said about this location are 100% true. Went into this store tonight because the website states it's a 24 hour pharmacy- the gentleman working knew the website stated this but said it hasn't been right since before the pandemic and said the closest one was ELK GROVE... sir. You knew the site was wrong and you also told me to drive to Elk Grove for allergy medicine. I get that this isn't your fault the site is wrong, but you should really have someone escalate this if it's a known issue.. and maybe find a better recommendation as an alternative. read more

I've never met a CVS I didn't like. Ehhhh, that's not true. Some are better than others and I've actually been to a few horrific stores due to being dirty, disheveled or having miserable employees. However in the great pharmacy war in which the world pits CVS against Walgreens, I'm a CVS girl. Most people tend to favor one joint over the other and I'm way on the CVS side. They always have better prices, nicer employees, better stock and are more clean & organized! So...how could anyone like Wags better!? hehe Just kidding Wags diehards! This particular CVS is quickly becoming a favorite of mine in the city. It's huge with a ton of stock, including a few aisles of liqs which is hardcore for a CVS. Employees are great, in particular this one lady that works the front register. She's super nice, super careful with ringing things up but still speedy, and she doesn't scoff at me using coupons. Apparently she puts up with some real d-canoe couponers who will have her do 10 transactions with 100 coupons. Those people give my kind a bad name! Why they hoarding items for?! Get what you need, stick to the store limits, use valid coupons, be organized & not a hot mess - and be polite! Even with the canoes, this lady is still amazing to my couponing kind. And she said I have a nice, happy voice and anyone who knows me, knows I melt over compliments. My only downside for this CVS is that for Black Friday items, they don't put them all out nicely in a marked area as other CVSes do. I'm a freak that waits all year for CVS BF and it's rough going down every aisle trying to find & match up items so everything will scan perfectly. I prefer it all nicely laid out on an endcap for my feeble mind. Aside from the fantastic customer service at this location, a big draw is it's open 24 hours! Oh jeeeeeah CVS! Only two items I buy from here. Beer and bubble gum. Best place to buy beer when the Rib fest, hood fairs, etc are in play. Whose gonna stop me from taking my CVS bought beer into the festivals? Who?! No one yet. Get there early, all these neighborhood bums do the same thing and CVS sells out of good beer and cheap ass beer quickly. (Beer is not cheap, but it's cheaper than at the street festivals.) All that's left is the expensive harsh stuff. Blah! Well, standing in line on any occassion is still doable, this neighborhood is filled with cuties and they like to shop here too. The pharmacy at CVS Lincoln and Damen is sooooo unpleasant. I just hat going there. The pharmacists and staff are always in a hurry, ultra-officious and self-ritious. It may because they're short-staffed for the amount of business that they have and they become irratable and defensive. Some of the cashiers are pleasant and helpful, so not 100% of the staff at the pharmacy is difficult. I talked to a pharmacist called Dimitri as I needed assistance with a prescription mix-up and he was beyond rude. read more

I go to this CVS because of location convenience. On three separate occasions, I've been short a pill or two out of my prescription. When I mention it to the pharmacist, they always attribute it to the pill counter, but I find it really strange that quantity errors are made this often. The saving grace is that they are always accommodating and throw an extra one into my refill. This CVS in general is super convenient. They sell my favorite ice cream (that Jewel and Target both stopped selling), frequently have 2 big bags of Dove chocolate for $6, and the staff is pretty friendly in general. I wish they hadn't gotten rid of the self-checkout because the lines are much longer and slower, but I was told they did it for appearances sake so I hope everyone reaps the benefit of a more beautiful CVS. ;) read more

The minute Clinic here is a disorganized mess. The online reservation doesn't allow same day appointments either through the website or the CVS app. Which means that when I went this morning, I made sure to arrive before 9 am when they open on Saturdays. I suspected that I could have strep throat, so I arrived at 8:50 am. As I walked towards the minute clinic offices and computer, I noticed the female doctor opening up the office. I greeted her with "Good morning. I know you don't open until 9, but can I put my information in the computer now to get the appointment scheduled?" She stated that I'd have to wait until 9 o'clock before the computer would allow me to make a walk-in appointment for that day. I sat down in one of the chairs in front of the pharmacy to wait until 9. At 8:57, a man and his son arrived and I could hear him asking the same questions that I'd asked to the doctor. She gave him the same reply, that he'd have to wait until 9 to make a reservation. Seeing as though I had been sitting in the chair around the corner for 7 minutes prior to them arriving, I felt that I should have had first crack at the computer to make my appointment. I stood up and peaked around the corner and made eye contact with the father who was now hovering over the computer. He proceeded to stand there until the computer allowed him to start logging in at 9. The kicker: the doctor walks out of her office and asks the father, "Is it letting you make the appointment?" He said "yes." This is when I decided to speak up. I asked the doctor, "Is there another doctor coming in this morning?" She said "No, I'm the only one this morning." I replied, "so is your first appointment going to be the person who uses the computer first, or the person that arrived here first?" "She said "I have to go by the computer system." So basically, the doctor knew that I'd been there for over 10 minutes but never mentioned to me that I should probably wait in front of the computer so that I could book the first appointment, otherwise I would be next in line to whoever stands in front of the computer before me. Even more annoying was that she had no inclination to take control of the situation and manage the business. She could have easily mentioned to the man boxing me out at the computer that I was there first, and that I should be allowed the first appointment. I sat back in the waiting room chairs for an additional 30 minutes exactly before I could be seen. I guess getting to the minute clinic before everyone rise and 10 minutes before opening gets you to the back of the line. Thanks minute clinic for being so efficient. I won't be returning to your non-existent reservation system and horrible ability to take patients in order. Literally, there were 2 patients and you couldn't figure out who was there first. Pretty pathetic read more

Rude pharmacist who doesn't even take the time to listen, and instead, shoves an OLD prescription sitting in their racks that was supposed to have been canceled weeks ago; sends me away with the wrong script and when I return 10 minutes later, (YES, 10 minutes) am told that because the prescription (their error!) has left the store, they will not refund me my money. I have been to several CVS stores. Twice I used the pharmacy and it was ok. They got the job done and they were friendly. But both stores were kind of discombobulated. They seemed to have fewer items than Walgreen's. And their store employees always seem to be like Zombies going through the motion. This particular CVS store has services that other CVS stores don't usually have, and that's the main reason I'm rating it. This regards the Minute Clinic and pharmacy. The Minute Clinic offers a variety of services performed by Nurse Practitioners. I visited the clinic recently to get a TB test, which is required for hospice volunteers. If you're good with a PC, you can go to the store's website, register for your particular service, and get a place "in line" at the store. The website will send you a code, via email and/or text, that you enter into the kiosk machine at the Minute Clinic. It was also supposed to notify me at the 30-minute mark warning mark, which it did not do. You can also register at the kiosk at the store, and get an idea how long you have to wait. With the email/text notification, you get a code, and you input that code into the kiosk when you arrive. The kiosk lists the names on people in line, and how long they should expect to wait for service. I went on a Monday, which is apparently a bad time to go. There were several people waiting. It was more than 90 minutes before I went in. There was a Nurse Practitioner on duty, and a student Nurse Practitioner, who was observing and asking questions. I filled out another form privately in the treatment room, answered a couple questions, and received the TB test. There was a credit card machine in the treatment room, so I was able to pay there. Two days later, I returned to have the test read. On Wednesday morning, there was no wait at all. The read took about two minutes. I received the test results, paid, and was out in five minutes. This store offers a 24-hour pharmacy. I hope you never need it like I did, after the emergency room visit, armed with a pain prescription. If you need a prescription filled at 11:30pm on a weeknight, you can get it done here. It was quick and efficient. It really helps that there's a parking lot here, so you don't have to go driving around the block at ungodly hours, trying to find a space. Besides these two services, this is a standard, big CVS store. Nothing outstanding either good or bad in my experience. read more

This CVS location is just bad. Whenever I go to this CVS is so frustrating, they are always out of everything. The shelves are constantly empty and when it's time to check out there is never an associate ready to check you out they want you to do self check out all the time while the employee stands there and stares at you. Dear North Center CVS, I have been very pleased with our relationship thus far. Although I can only compare you to my previous CVS in Lincoln Park which was a shithole of insanity. CVS, you've never argued with me about my prescription and have filled it with ease and efficiency each time. You've been there for me when I desperately needed a vitamin water after a night of drinking. You stock plenty of cheap wine and I can count on you for a decent six-pack of beer on my way home from work. The wrapping paper I selected for this year's holiday gifts was quite lovely and cheap. I also very much enjoy wandering around your carnival of a "miscellaneous" section and feasting my eyes on the totally random items you have for sale. But then I wonder, why all those clock radios and dancing frogs, but only a selection of five single DVDs? Since I only usually pick up snacks here, and not real groceries, I feel like all my basic needs from a drugstore are met. I would like to to see you stock some Feverfew, which I can't seem to find anywhere, and the BF would like to request Alka Seltzer Morning Relief. Other than that, if you could keep the western side door functioning and ask the Streetwise vendors to remember that I've already bought a copy from them that week, then we'll be golden. WATCH OUT IF SHOPPING HERE!!!! They tried to tow my car which costs a LOT OF $$$$ I WILL NEVER SHOP AT ANY CVS STORE AGAIN!!! I parked in the CVS parking lot at 4051 N. Lincoln today 6-6-14 at 4:10 PM , and went directly into the CVS, bought a jug of milk and came out at 4:25 PM to find Rendered Services towing my car illegally from the lot. I showed my receipt and yelled at the driver until he let me have my car. Many tow companies have been caught doing illegal tows in Chicago, it's a racket! I use this CVS as my neighborhood pharmacy. Staff (store and pharmacy) is always friendly and helpful. I always use the self checkout, which is very efficient. Rarely do I have an actual employee check me out, so I rarely have to wait. I have noticed that at times, there are short lines for "manned" checkout lanes. Store is clean and well stocked. Love the CVS ExtraCare program. I always have some coupon geared toward my shoping I can use. The store will continue to be my go-to. read more

The pharmacy at this CVS is lightning-fast. I dropped off my prescription and expected a 10-15 minute wait, but heard my name called within 5 minutes. I love efficiency. The people who work here are very nice and considerate. I was totally absentminded and dropped my sweater in the store, and when I came back 20 minutes later to retrace my steps, it was hanging nicely on the corner of a shelf. I didn't really expect to get it back, but that was sweet of them. My roommate and I get all dorky over things like the release of the last Harry Potter book, but unlike all of those chumps who pre-ordered copies or waited in lines at crowded bookstores, we strolled over to our friendly neighborhood 24-hour CVS. We got our copies sans hassle. We're so clever, you'd think we were Ravenclaws or something.* *We're not. We're Slytherins. read more

This is now my neighborhood CVS, and I'm pretty pleased with this place. They had everything I needed to bake cupcakes, and the cashier was really nice. Maybe she's new and hasn't been tainted by CVS' infamous reputation of bad service... yet. I hate CVS in general, and while I have nothing special against this one in particular, it's the one I've been to the most. They never have what I need, and they have all sorts of terrible brands and useless products that nobody could possibly want. The staff is nice, but that's a small consolation. What reminded me of my hatred of CVS is that I was recently given an AMEX gift card that was purchased at CVS, and it doesn't work. There is strong evidence to suggest that they either mistakenly or intentionally did not activate it. Nice system - you get the money for the gift card, but you don't have to pay AMEX to activate it. I like this CVS for no particular reason, other than the fact that it looks like almost every CVS I'm accustomed to everywhere (excpet cleaner!), which provides a certain amount of comfort. The aisles are much wider than the Walgreens I sometimes visit down in the Loop, on my way home from work, and there are far fewer smelly homeless people. The have a pretty broad selection of items, basic grocery and pharmacy (and select liquor in the cooler? I never made a mental note or really checked.) While I'm totally down with a clean store that I can walk to and buy pretty much anything I need, the self-check out it TOO MUCH. It takes far too long to get through the line, even when they have all four checkouts open. And, really, who likes to bag their own purchase? Not this girl. I actually walked up to a register with a woman standing there, and she told me to go to self-checkout. When I asked, she told me I had to use self-checkout and she was there for refunds. REFUNDS. How often do you go to CVS and try to return something? I have NEVER done that, and I don't know anyone who has. Why did they even put in 4 or 5 or whatever checkouts that need people to run them, if they aren't going to open them? The guy working at the self-checkout was nice, but, didn't move with a purpose at all. It took me nearly ten minutes to get out of there with six items. All because he thought I was confused and pushed some button, so I couldn't use my coupons and he had to void it all. Then he had to help at other registers. It is far too much effort. I would much rather deal with Saturday traffic at Target in December than put up with such an inefficient system. read more

I've come here a couple of times for the minute clinic. The doctor/practitioners are nice enough but it's always over an hour wait past whatever time it estimated for you. My previous visit I sat here for 2.5 hours for what was to be an hour wait. Today I signed up ahead of time online for an appointment at 12:51. At 1:25 she came out and tried to tell me it would be another hour while she went to lunch. Uh-uh honey. Sorry you're behind but I've already been waiting an extra 35 minutes. I came into CVS to purchase an item and was assisted by Matthew. I walked up to his register and patiently waited as he did "other things" while I was standing right in front of him waiting to purchase my items. After he was done putting the trash bag in the trash can he then told me me that he would help me at a completely different register. I go to the register on the other side and Mathew then proceeds to doing other things and then walked SLOWLY to the register. He had no regard for me being there and was purposely taking his time instead of helping me the customer. I asked him if I could use the bathroom and he told me that I couldn't because it locks after 10pm. I asked if he could make an exception (I really needed to use the bathroom and was far from home) and he said no. It wouldn't have hurt him to just let me use the bathroom. He was not hospitable at all and had terrible customer service skills. I am not trying to have someone "break the rules" but if I was working and I saw a young lady that wasn't dressed scantily or shady looking... hey I would let her use the bathroom. What happened to people being kind? Kind people are strongly lacking in this city of Chicago and I am not a fan. read more

I have been going to the same location for years. Well back before it even became CVS. I rarely ever do a review. Mostly if it is terrific or absolutely horrible. I go there because it is so close to where I live. I can put up with a lot of crap. Dirty store out of stock items, 20 minutes to get someone over to unlock a security cabinet so you can get some med they have locked up. I even tolerated in the middle of the night having to stand there for 15 minutes before someone would come up to check me out watching someone just walk out with their items they got tired of waiting to purchase. Which I suspect is the reason the employee came up to check out the alarm when the other customer left. Not to take care of me. Today was the last straw. I was standing there where there is no clear area for waiting to be served. There were two working the registers so I waited for the first one to open up. Another customer come and stood besides me. The entire time the cashiers were looking up watching their areas like they should be seeing us. The cashier called the other customer before me. When I mentioned I was waiting there before him and the other customer even stated yes he was and to go ahead of him. You would have thought that settled it. Well she went ahead and stated he was in front of me so he is next. WTF! I am there day in and day out buying all manner of over priced things and ever since the self checkout has been removed it has always been first come first served. I was never impressed with their selection, or service however now I am thinking of even pulling my prescriptions from them as well and using another Urgent care as well just so I don't have to deal with them again. read more

I walked in last night looking for a phone charger. Nextel charged $25 for one without a wall outlet. CVS is agreeable enough to charge $10. I was greeted at the door by a gentlemen named Carlos. I was trying to find the right one and since they are enclosed it makes it more of an eye test. The same gentlemen I met earlier was restocking an isle. I had apologized for interrupting him but had asked for his assistance. He was very friendly and helpful. He even got down on a knee and plugged it into the wall to make sure it worked. He opened up an isle for me to take my payment. I have been in quite a few CVS store's before and it always felt like the person had to be there. Carlos made me feel like he was there to help customers. To leadership: You have a valuable employee there and I would encourage you to remind him of it daily. This is my go to CVS, as it is right down the street from me. I've been going to this store ever sense it became a CVS. For the most part this store is pretty awesome. It is one of the cleanest stores that I've been to. They do seem to keep the shelves stocked, for the most part. I've only been in a handful of times and this CVS was out of stock of something that I wanted. This store just had a minute clinic installed near the pharmacy, I know that is beneficial to some people. I will say that the Pharmacists in this store are very nice and extremely helpful, in my experience. My reason for the 4 stars is that of the staff and management in the front half of the store (not Pharmacy). While most of the staff is very friendly, there is at least one person there, whom should not be working with the public. I know you get these people everywhere and I will leave it at that. This person is can range from not helpful or friendly to rude. This CVS can and does get very busy during rush hour. 4 to 6 pm So don't be surprise if you find yourself in a line. It's a part of life people. I think the management could listen or be more open to the public about what it wants in the store. Also someone else mentioned in a review about how when it rains, it floods on the east side of the parking lot. The entrance has a huge part where the concrete is sinking, which means pulling in, is like pulling up over a small curb. Even if this isn't the store responsibility, they should get the city to fix it, or fix it themselves anyways. I avoid the east entrance. I still think this is the best CVS around for miles, and I will continue to spend my money there. They just need to iron out some wrinkles. read more
