I had to wait for my script, but one of the clerks asked what I was waiting for and checked on it to let me know it was ready to go. I appreciate the attention to detail and the friendly, fast experience. Today, when I learned I didn't have any refills left on my medication, Nana, the pharmacist, gave me some tablets to tie me over until the pharmacy received an order from my doctor's office to fill my script. Both pharmacists are extremely knowledgeable about the drugs and can answer any questions that help you with your health needs. Another excellent note is there is an APP that takes care of refills and other things. Requesting a refill is easy... requires your phone, the camera, and the bar code on the bottle... Prices at Giant, like everywhere, seem to keep creeping up but if there was one and only one store we had to go to, regardless of prices, this would probably be it. As it is, we usually visit three stores to get certain things at each one and Giant, this one, is usually on our weekly shopping trip. They beat all the chains in Chambersburg with service: drive-through script service, 15 minute refills, discounts for patients without health insurance, local brands, health food of all sorts, special orders for anyone, and gifts without being too much or too cheesy. In addition to the above services, everyone I've ever encountered here is honestly happy to be at work. They love their jobs, their coworkers, and their customers. Upon request, any prescription will be explained and dosing instructions will be repeated over and over until the patient (ie, me) is satisfied with their understanding. They also stock a great selection of Tom's of Maine products, a difficult find in Chambersburg! While you're waiting for your refill, drink a pint of chocolate milk from Harrisburg Dairy and chat with one of the ubiquitous old ladies waiting for their refills, too.

My experience with Giant Food Stores has been less than optimal. My most recent experience was by…read morefar one of the worst in terms of customer experience and checkout. The products have been moved throughout the entire store making it difficult to find items. On this day, it was impossible to find someone to ask where these items were now housed. Finally I was able to find the items that I was looking for but each of 4 people I asked gave me wrong information. Could it not be possible to just have a lookup to find a product you are searching for? And don't get me started on checkout. The self-service checkout is the most frustrating and annoying experience. You have a whole counter that you can't put goods on. You are working on a little shelf. You have this annoying voice telling to scan items and place them on this little shelf. And it stops you repeatedly during checkout so that these unfriendly people have to come over to reset the process. The best checkout process is at Trader Joe's. They are friendly and efficient and pack your bags for you. Plus the prices these days at Giant are outrageous and it is harder and harder to use their coupons. They need to improve their product wayfinding, customer service, pricing and checkout experience.
