This CVS at Pentagon City is convenient and was well-stocked with all the goods. Snacks, food, medicine, chocolates, beauty and health, you name it. I roamed around for a long time finding the things I needed as I sprouted a cold somehow the morning before arriving in DC and I needed some feel-good items and snacks. Had a not so pleasant visit to this location yesterday evening. #1 I've always known for years of visiting this location they are the worst at hanging their sale tags so customers are aware of which item(s) are on sale. So definitely always check before your visit! Secondly, I was picking up some laundry detergent that was on sale (which they did not have tagged but I had already checked Weekly Ad before visit) but had to wait for an employee to come unlock the item. I rang bell twice and no one came but just so happened that an employee walked the aisle I was in and I thought she was there to help me but walked right passed me. I then asked if she could have someone come unlock the item since she said she couldn't because she did not have a key. As we stood there, another employee walked right passed the aisle and she asked could he help us and he said no. She, the same individual that said she couldn't help because she "did not" have a key, actually did have a key the whole time but clearly just did not care to help. Lastly, I proceeded to check out, which I was walking towards the individual behind the register until I saw "Graham" (apologies for misspelling) blowing his nose. I then just walked to self checkout but ended up needing help over there so "Graham" staring walking towards me STILL blowing his nose, fingers deep in nose so I stopped him in his tracks and asked him could he sanitize his hands before helping me. He said "fine" but literally walked away and stand right back behind the register without with sanitizing his hands. read more

The pharmacy in CVS on Hayes Street across from Pentagon Row is one of the best pharmacies I've been to. They are friendly, and always greet me with a smile, and seem genuinely interested in me as a person. If I have to drop off a paper script, it never takes more than 15 minutes to get my meds. EVERY TIME! I use this facility for all my vaccines, too. Caleb, one of the pharmacists, always asks about my family, and wishes them well when I leave. I'm so glad I found a pharmacy that both meets my needs and treats me with respect and dignity! In a big city, that's hard to find. read more

During my most recent trip to the Washington DC area, I stopped in here a couple of times to purchase water. Each time I bought a couple of 1 liter bottles of water for $2.19 a bottle. Prices were fair at this location, but not the best. It was pretty convenient to pay for my items using one of the self checkout kiosks. It's also really convenient that it's located right next to the Pentagon City Metro Station. read more

Almost 15 minutes listening to 1980s Chinese Restaurant (It reminded me of Formosa Garden in Aurora, CO where I grew up) hold music - just to talk with the same rude pharmacist who previously wasted my limited, valuable time in another bad customer experience, where he and his female colleague refilled my *explicit* brand name prescriptions with generics - against both my doctor's and my orders. (In California, where I moved here from, pharmacies let patients choose if they want generics or brand name Rxs, and given what I know about the industry, I always choose brand.) To top it off, the whole purpose for my call was to check if they have the brand name in stock of the Rx I just called to re-fill via their IVR system. Nope! Sure enough, they - yet again - don't have it in stock - as they unilaterally decide (against both patient and doctor's orders) that patients don't deserve a choice in the matter. And if that weren't enough, when I said that clearly they should hire more staff, I learned that one of the reasons he was so backed up was because he was there alone, waiting for another pharmacist to show up. Awesome. I just called their competitor, and am switching pharmacies. read more

I will never shop there again! I went in to shop for a lighter, and was told that there is a federal law that now requires one to scan their ID if they want to buy a lighter. When I ask to see the so called federal law, the store owner who they called on the phone is screaming at me and says that he's gonnna call 911 which he did, and went on to ban me from attending the store. All because I wanna buy a lighter! Bullshit store!! You'll never have my money again! I was escorted out by the cops. The law never required to scan your ID to purchase a lighter and I don't feel comfortable giving my info just because of a lighter. I hope the policy is upheld for everyone because if it is only to me, I feel targeted as a black woman, and discriminated against for something as small as a lighter! read more

The pharmacy is horrible. The was a middle eastern lady having a long phone conversation on her personal device for over 15 minutes while her staff was struggling to keep up. Upon arriving there were 4 people in line, and it took 30 minutes. There was one Hispanic guy with long hair working the drop off, and a Hispanic girl in the back preparing the medication. He was administering shots to patients and working the drop off which I think is bizarre. Definitely overworked and had no sense of urgency. Please run a better business and make more efficient decisions. read more

The manager is totally racist. He told me and my son to get at the store because he was looking around. There was people in the store longer than me that are Caucasian and he just let it die but me and my African-American son had to get up because we were looking around for a minute. read more

Store has a policy of checking ID when you purchase a gift card with a credit card. When I asked why, the manager said there is a lot of credit card fraud and they were trying to protect ME. I said that I knew who I was and that I was not doing anything wrong. I said that I didn't particularly like being treated like a criminal. After some calm back and forth where I simply disagreed with the manager he said I was being rude!?! I guess this is what you get from people these days. You simply disagree with someone and they start blaming you and saying bad stuff about you. read more

Cleanest, well stocked pharmacy in Norther VA. The pharmacy staff is and pharmacist are the friendliest people. Knowledge and seem to care so much. All most all others I have used in the area, except the Target pharmacy in Rosslyn could take some lessons on service and people skills from this bunch of hardworking people. I shop here for cosmetics and other necessities regularly. I have also used the passport photo services a couple of times and have been to the Minute Clinic a handful of occasions. Staff has always been helpful when looking for specific items. I have never had to wait for the passport photo taking either and have been in and out in less than 10 minutes each time. The Minute Clinic is another story. If you don't make an appointment online you will be waiting hours! I've made appointments online, showed up on time, and still ended up waiting 30 minutes or so. The practitioners have always been nice, and I have always been in for easy things (immunizations, TB testing, etc.) so I've never had an issue. I like the self-checkout stations, super convenient because lines otherwise would get incredibly long here! read more

Worse CVS I've been to. They have illegal credit card readers on their self check out registers. When I tried to use the self check out I received a message that said Transaction declined when I tried to use both of my credit cards. I left the merchandise there because the line was too long but when I got home I saw that they still charged my credit card. I've tried numerous times to get it resolved but to no avail. They don't care at the store and never call me back. This cvs doesn't belong in pentagon city. Not going there again with the stealing they do read more

Doctor She was super quick. Had me laughing throughout my visit and the needle didn't hurt one bit. She was a pro! Cleanliness Top level cleanliness and no concerns here. Service I've never signed into the kiosk there, and that was the only difficult part of my visit. Be highly advised, it seems to be a better experience if you register beforehand. While I was there, someone tried to jump the line. They knocked on the door and interrupted someone else's visit so there's limited direction and security in that regard. I'm happy with the result, but I had to learn all of this on my own. I wish it would have at least had someone to let me know what to do (kind of like a desk attendant), but again, I learned on my own. read more

All the auto scanners were out of service, so went to the single manned register with about 15 items and three coupons. Cashier didn't bother to say hello or make eye contact, but rang up the sale. Scanned the coupons. Mumbled something. Started voiding items. Scanned everything again. Mumbled something again. And then took every single item out of bag and voided entire sale and started over again-- and still didn't have it right and started voiding items again. This is where I said, "Thank you" and left. Somewhere between the surliness and the incompetence, I decided that Rite Aid would be a better place to shop that day. read more

Once again, when I stopped to pick up milk at this CVS location they were all sold out! This has happened so many times that I have lost count! Honestly, I've walked out of here without milk more times than I've actually been able to buy milk here. You'd think by now that they would realize they need to order more milk and allot more space in the fridge cases for milk because clearly it is a convenient place to pick up some milk on your way home from the Metro. I'm not being picky here by saying they are just out of the particular type of milk or size that I purchase, they're usually out of all types of milk. The shelves are bare and wiped out. They definitely need to do a better job of stocking products and looking at what people purchase so they don't consistently run out. More times than not they're out of every type of milk except maybe a few gallons of milk and some buttermilk will be left, if you're lucky! While the staff at this location are friendly and typically greet me when I walk in the door, the low rating is due to the fact that they don't properly order enough milk. I've gone in at all different times of day and days and they are always out of milk so much so that you can't reliably stop here to pick up milk on the way home from the Metro. read more

Costco pharmacy was closed by the time I got back from the hospital so I opted to stop here since it's so close to my apartment. The pharmacist was amazing and extremely knowledgeable. She went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed, explained to me any drug interactions, and even gave me advice on how to save money/request from my doctor in the future. I was impressed at how sweet she was and it was really a blessing when I wasn't feeling well. The overall selection in the store is pretty standard CVS and the store is really clean. FYI: They do have a restroom. If you need to use the restroom, you have to ask to be let into it. read more

This is the closest store to my apt now so that's worth an extra star. This store is clean and has everything you are looking for. They sell premade salads and sandwiches so you can stop on the way to work, and a decent selection of cold beer for the way back from work. read more

The staff here is super nice and the store is really clean and nicely brightly laid out. The checkout station is really annoying though. Its really cramped and if you have any coupons...then you have to wait for someone to come and manually input them. Its annoying. After waiting and waiting for what seemed like months on end to figure out what was going to replace the now defunct Borders Bookstore at Pentagon Centre, I was so stoked to learn that a CVS was on the way! So exactly how this place's grand opening later ended up slipping my notice, I can't say. But I was pleasantly surprised to stumble across it and find it up and running last week. I like this store, and it will become my go-to pharmacy and general convenience-type store in the area. (SN: I've never been a huge fan of the Rite Aid at Pentagon Row anyway, so I'm glad to have another choice. I'm a CVS girl, in part because I used to live super close to one in Boston, and also because I think they have better coupons and discounts than other similar stores.) Anyway, I digress... This CVS is bright, clean, and airy. It still has that "brand spanking new feeling" so enjoy it while you can -- before all the teenybopperish crew that frequent the mall come and stomp all the newness out of it. lol Also, the employee I spoke to was helpful and friendly in pointing me in the right direction to find stuff. Also, I like that it has several self-check out stations near the front entrance, and that the back entrance empties into the rest of the shopping complex. All in all, I think this store is a welcome addition to this area, and I will definitely patronize it. read more

I am sick and so called to find out if they have humidifiers and if so which ones, so that I don't have to run all over NOVA while feeling awful. I had to speak with four people on the phone and NEVER even found out which humidifiers they have beyond a brand name. One guy even said he was just at the front desk and could not go get the info and i had to ask him if there was someone who could. This is my home CVS, but I am avoiding them like the plague. read more

The pharmacist Kaleb Negusse is extremely rude and unhelpful. He was confrontational to my sick 10 yo daughter (wearing a face mask so obviously sick) who was seated by the pharmacy while I picked out OTC medication for her and we waited for her prescription. I saw him talking to her very rudely so I approached and he rudely asked for her insurance without any kind of greeting or formality that you would expect from someone in a customer service position. He came back and said there was problem with my insurance, that it "wasn't his problem" and I needed to call them. I didn't have service on my phone as we were in the middle of a mall, and he rolled his eyes and told me to go outside when I asked if he could use their phone to call my insurance. I ended up asking him to transfer my prescription to a whole other pharmacy so I didn't have to spend any more time dealing with an incompetent, miserable employee. He's obviously in the wrong field after several poor life decisions and takes it out on CVS' customers. I left a message with the district manager and will be reporting this problem as well. read more

"Hi. What's the strongest cough medicine available without a prescription?" Okay, so I've had this never-ending light congestion and early AM/late PM coughing thing for weeks since my bout of the flu ended. I seem to get this every other year, and didn't feel like going though the hassle and expense of a dr.'s appt. for someone to tell me what I already know. The pharmacist on duty yesterday was pleasant, and after asking me questions about what I needed the products to do, came from behind the counter to show me what I needed, which wasn't cough syrup. She answered my questions, and didn't seem annoyed when I asked her about similar products behind the counter (which I always thought of as the best, most powerful versions--I wanted the good stuff, yo). She explained to me about a particular ingredient in one of the products, and why what I had in my hands would be the best options. Twenty-four hours later, I can feel the problem clearing up. I looked horrible and felt worse. I searched high and low for a doctor who could see me the same day. I quickly realized that unless I boarded a plane to the Amazon, a witch doctor is all I would be seeing. So I gave MinuteClinic a try. It was convenient. The checking process was totally automated. The FNP accessed me, processed my insurance, gave me prescriptions, and showed me additional over the counter options. What an efficient, fast, and professional experience! I now no longer have to put off taking care of my medical needs. I really can see a practitioner who cares before I need an emergency room... and now you can too! read more

Went to get my flu shot today at Minute Clinic. I went and signed into the Kiosk. I spent approximately three hours waiting while other patients (approximately 5) who came in after me were seen. Finally, a gentleman who came in after me was about to be escorted in. I asked why am I not being seen. I was told that people make appointments online, therefore they are being seen before me. Question for CVS Management: Why don't you put a big sign so that patients will not waste their time coming to your clinic and signing up to be seen only having to wait until after all these other people who have signed up online? My valuable time was wasted today. Tell your customers not to come in and sign up to be seen because all the patients who register online will be seen before you. I never shop at CVS without using my CVS card. They keep track of your spending and give you 2% back on whatever you spend there. This location is one of my favorite. As far as CVS's go, this one is pretty good! The isles were wide and well organized. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The selection is pretty good as well. If there is something small that you need, you can find it here!
