Pharmacy staff is super nice but ALWAYS understaffed I think corporate needs to address issues as it's not a once in a while thing.

Unfortunately, my instincts are that that "temporarily" is destined to stretch on into "eternity." I can't say I've had a whole lot of experience with this place, but it's the epitome of an old-fashioned, small-town pharmacy, and the fact that it's gone is not good. As I've mentioned, the 1st time I came here was with my old friend for a milkshake, and I remember it being a damn good one. The next time was a year or 2 ago. My nose was running like a sieve, and I just felt crummy. This usually happens at least once every winter, and my usual remedy was Day-quil and Ny-quil. After a few days, they tended to work, but I was always left with a splitting headache, and it always took a few days before I was cured. Fed up, I decided to come to Far Hills for new medication, and the pharmacist was very helpful, much more so than in large chains like Walgreens or CVS. He asked me a few questions about my overall health, then recommended Coricidin "Cold & Flu" pills, plus a supplement designed to boost my immune system. The price was very reasonable. He cautioned that it might make me sleepy. I went home, took the pills as directed, and the next day I was vastly improved. I returned again sometime later for a milkshake and learned that they didn't make them anymore. Sad, but I got an ominous feeling from that. My last visit was a few weeks ago. There was no one at the front counter, and the 2 men working were on the phones, having in-depth conversations about the perilous state of the pharmacy's finances. The pharmacist was polite, apologized to me for the long wait, and rang me up without further distractions, but that ominous feeling had become a commanding sense of dark foreboding that the pharmacy was not long for the world. It's really too bad. I hate to see small, independent businesses fail, whether they're bookstores or pharmacies. Not too long after that last visit, I went to my local Walgreen's to pick up my prescription headache medication (yeah, I feel guilty about it, but I've been coming here for decades and only became aware of the Far Hills Pharmacy during the past few years) and couldn't help but reflect on the differences. Walgreens was larger, had more aisles, was more densely stocked with everything from Unisom pills to cough syrup to paper towels to vaccinations. But I for one will miss the homey, hands-on touch of the Far Hills Pharmacy, despite my limited experiences with it. I don't know how long they were in business, but it just feels very sad. Another independent bites the dust. Not good.

February 3, 2020 I…read moream writing this letter to publicly recognize the extraordinary service provided to the residents of Branchburg and surrounding communities by the owner and personnel of the Raritan Valley Pharmacy. My family and I have resided in Branchburg for more than thirty years until recently moving, and we have used the Raritan Valley Pharmacy exclusively for longer than I can remember. During this time, and because of the particular circumstances that I will explain in greater detail later, we have developed a close and enduring relationship with the pharmacists and staff of the Raritan Valley Pharmacy. My wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis shortly after we moved to Branchburg. Since then, her condition has worsened significantly. She is required to see many different physicians and must take a variety of medications. Understandably, navigating between physicians, insurance companies, and the pharmacy has become an incredibly daunting task. It is for these reasons that I cannot overstate the importance of having an advocate who represents my wife's best interests. We have also learned that kindness and compassion are the most valuable qualities that any health care professional can possess. Experiencing illness or infirmity is stressful enough for patients and caregivers. I cannot imagine dealing with the many issues involved with my wife's disease without the benefit of knowledgeable, caring professionals who provide the required valuable advice and counsel. The professionals at the Raritan Valley Pharmacy have done precisely that. All of the pharmacists, from Sager, the owner, to Tom and Henry, have consistently displayed incredible kindness and compassion over the years. They are patient and understanding and have gone above and beyond in assisting us when problems arose with our insurance company or with a physician's office. They have saved us thousands of dollars over the years by researching and identifying different coupons and offers for medications that were available to us and that we were unaware of. They are diligent in reviewing all of the medications my wife takes to ensure that none of her medicines interact improperly. The staff, including the delivery personnel, are always polite, friendly, and efficient. While I am known more for my verbosity than my brevity, there are no words I can find that could adequately express my sincere gratitude for everything that the caring professionals at the Raritan Valley Pharmacy have done for us over the years. I hope that I have adequately conveyed how much the Raritan Valley Pharmacy means to our family and the families of all they serve. I unconditionally recommend them to anyone who requires a pharmacy for whatever reason and I am confident that they will be as satisfied as we are.
