Pure Form rescued me from a hair emergency and I am so grateful!…read more My friend and I were bridesmaids in a wedding on July 1. She booked us an appointment with her regular stylist (not from Pure Form) for up-dos more than 2 months in advance because we knew it would be hard to get someone on a long weekend Sunday. The plan was to go to the stylist's house because her salon wasn't going to be open on July 1, and we could save a bit of money. It all sounded perfect, until the stylist cancelled on us the day before our appointment!!! After phoning a few mall salons and finding out they didn't open until 11 or 12 am, my friend tried Pure Form, a salon that she used to go to but hadn't been in over a year. The receptionist remembered her and was very sympathetic to our situation. She asked around the salon and luckily a stylist volunteered to come in on her day off. We arrived at the salon and met Lindsay at 8 am on Sunday morning because we needed to be out of there by 10 am for wedding stuff. She was in a great mood and very friendly, especially considering the time :) Lindsay listened to what we wanted and encouraged us to speak up if the style was going somewhere we did not want it to go. She did an amazing job and we both left feeling fantastic. The styles stayed put for over 16 hours, through photos in the heat and lots of dancing. My boyfriend liked my hair style so much, he suggested I do it like that every day. Yeah right - I can barely pull off a pony tail on my own...

So far all the staff I've dealt with have been friendly and personable and I haven't had any unpleasant experiences, overall I would definitely recommend stopping by and giving this place a try!

I said it hurts, but she ignored me and kept grabbing on to my hair and pulling it...I was in shock at how this behavior seems ok by them... Back home now and my scalp is still red and my head hurts. Omg !!! I have been trying to get my hair the way I want it for YEARS!!!…read moreI have lots of grey/silver hair with my naturally dark brown hair. I wanted my silver to blend in. I've gotten reddish hI-lights REPEATEDLY. Told my hair just lifts warm. I had a long time, 19+ years, stylist. I changed to a younger funkier stylist. 2x I didn't get what I wanted. I was very sad. I was leaving for holiday in a few weeks and really wanted my hair "did" for it. I asked a friend who she goes to cuz her hair is magnificent, she said Leah was her girl. Leah was booked the friendly receptionist suggested Sam and I could get in the next day. I booked then almost canceled. I was terrified of getting something ugly. I went even though I was so scared. I arrived 20 minutes early. The receptionist greeted me and offered a hot cuppa coffee and shortly after Sam came and got me. I showed him a few, many lol, pics on my Pinterest and he said yes we can do that. Not today but we'll get started. I thought oh great this song and dance again. I've heard this !!! He said I see a icy blonde and get rid of the uneven black... Balance it out. Within 45 minutes I was under the drier and then the sink, waiting for my hair to process and lift. The sink had a foot rest and was THE most comfy wash chair I'd ever been in. Sam explained everything he did along the way. He cut my hair and taught the receptionist how he does layers. He was kind and patient with her. Asking questions about her schooling and being so supportive and enthusiastic about her progress. Sam cut my hair and left it longer than I wanted but it looked AWESOME!!!! He trimmed a tad more, blew it dry then had the receptionist curl my hair. She was so sweet. Talkative and kind. She took me outside to take pics and then cashed me out. Sam came over to wish me well and thank me for my business. I took my own pics and sent them to my hubby and daughter. They both loved my hair and even commented that it's NEVER looked so good. I will most definitely be back and will tell everyone to go there !!!!!

I have been looking for a hairdresser for a couple of years after coming to Calgary. I have asked women on the streets if I thought their cuts were done nicely. Then I would go and check the salons spending lots of money and having one failure after another. Sometimes the I would go to the same place for 2-3 times until they ruin my hair or make a fatal mistake in cutting. And then repeat ad nauseum. Finally I got lucky. I saw a lady with a great haircut, I made a compliment, she said she gets great comments about her hair every time, I got the address and the name. It was early March and I had to wait for two weeks to get an appointment. " He must be popular"- I said to the receptionist. "Oh, yes!"-she said with pride in her voice. Sam is great. He is never pushy. He will ask what you want but I prefer to ask _him_ what is the best for my hair. His salon carries a line of products but he never up-sells. And the products work, too. Life is so much easier when you have a great hair dresser. ;-))

My initial question upon entry was, "How much for a trim?" I was surprised to hear that it was only $25, but since it was my first visit I would receive 10% off. Awesome, I thought, let's do it. I was immediately seated at a stylists chair, since I was the only customer at the time, and promptly introduced to Sashi, my stylist for the day. It wa great friendly service from the two ladies working that day. My stylist, Sashi, really understood what I meant when I said I wanted to keep the length. She said she would only take off what was necessary to get rid of the dead ends. I loved her! She took maybe a centimetre off my ends, and fixed up my bangs for me. Once I was done I inquired about waxing, since many places are extremely over-priced. They told me I could have a full Brazilian done for only $40... I think that's pretty amazing. I decided to skip the invasive waxing for the day and just get my brows threaded instead. Now, I've never had the threading done, only the waxing. I've got to say, after experiencing threading of the brow, I don't think I'll ever go back to waxing! The overall experience at Trends was fabulous. I was in and out with a splendid trim and my eyebrows done in under 40 minutes... and it cost me under $40! That's a winner in my books!

Seeing that he was half a country away, I figured I ought to track down a skilled stylist here. On the basis of some very positive reviews right here on Yelp!, I decided to take the plunge. I'm super vain about my hair, so getting it cut is a big deal for me. I was super pleased with Stacey, my stylist, and with the whole salon. First of all, I came in early and they were super polite and talked about getting me in ASAP. I got hooked up with some delicious tea in the small waiting area, enjoying the atmosphere. It was very open concept, chic and open, and it didn't feel crowded at all. Love, love loved how gorgeous the interior was, which is exactly what I want in a salon. Loved getting my hair washed, although I was a little disappointed with the lack of scalp massage :( Stacey asked what I wanted, and totally consulted with me the whole time. She also listened to me chatter along the whole time. I love my one-inch shorter hair (I also like it when people listen to me when I explain that I'm growing my hair out). I adore my new hair cut, and while it wasn't cheap it was definitely worth it. Also, their pricing is comparable to most major salons anyways. And my hair remains wonderful. Perfect.

The Ginger Group was the first salon to pop up on Google and the receptionist was happy to get us in that afternoon (which came to a surprise quite frankly, because it was a Saturday, after all). Once we arrived we were kindly greeted and met by our stylists right away. Unfortunately, I forgot the name of the gentleman who tended to my messy locks... but he did have a station right next to another gentleman who, to our excitement, frequently had his bow-tie-wearing weiner dog roam the salon. That was a cute touch. The space itself, was perfect also, with its lofty vibe and industrialized pieces. I, personally love a laid-back environment without the snobbery that comes with certain uptight salons. My girlfriend showed up with her hair drenched in coconut oil from the night before, and was extremely worried about being judged by her stylist due to the fact she too, had worked in a salon with women who were umempathetic toward clients behind their backs. Our stylists were phenomenal. The female who worked on my friend was super understanding about the oil and casually chatted her up about our plans for the evening. As did my stylist. They were both kind, informative, and talented professionals. Our hair looked fabulous the entire night and carried all the way into the following day. Thank you for the wonderful experience and allowing me to look fierce on my special day!
