Jennifer at CutLab has been doing my hair for six years now, and I honestly can't imagine going to anyone else. Every time I leave, I feel like myself again just more put together, more confident. The salon has a good energy, and Jen's the kind of person who makes you feel relaxed and taken care of. It's never just a hair appointment it's a reset! :) read more

I walked into this place to set an appointment after seeing a woman with beautiful hair walk in. The owner Amber was so welcoming and set me up with Viviana. She said she thought we would be a good match and boy was she right. 2 years later, I am still very loyal to Viviana. I live in Dalllas, Tx but come to LA every other month and I always make sure to set my appointment with Viviana. She does beautiful blonde work. I am in my mid 30's and have a crown full of silver. She blends them in perfectly with the rest of my hair. Cuts and styles me too. Cannot recommend this place enough. Good people, honest work and the clients seem to all be long term. read more

Jennifer is the best. I've been going to her for years and she always takes care of me. She's an amazing hair stylist and an amazing person.

Jennifer was a very savvy hair consultant on style appropriate for your specific hair texture, your desired "image," and how you like to maintain your hair. For me, because my hair has a natural curl which I hate to style using gels/product daily, she steered me against a layered look which would simply poof out naturally. Instead she recommended a repeat of a previous neat-edged cut that I showed her an image of. She showed insight and sensitivity to what would work *for me*. That was modest of her and I really appreciated it. She didn't make it a show-off session about some whiz bang cut that she could pull off. Her care as well as the salon's sanitation (and COVID safety) felt really comfortable. It was a pleasure to go here and I got a discount for being a first time customer. I would definitely repeat. read more

I am an impatient person. The realization just dawned on me a few days ago. I began to recall my hurry in all that I do and my despise for those who dare hurry me. The mirror told me I was looking sloppy and drab. My hair is over-fried from the aggressive caresses of the flat iron, too often to call normal. I dialed the dusty ringer to reach my hairdresser but my call and subsequent text were unanswered. What's a gal to do? The scissors beckoned and I decided it couldn't be such a difficult task. Needless to say, I chopped at my hair without scrutiny and was left with a mismatched mop of "What the f@#k have you done, pendeJA?" I tried Supercuts on Friday. I waited at the Vons parking lot for it to be 9am on Friday, watching how many people like to pathetically hang out inside their cars in the morning with their stupid cellphones glued to their faces. I was one of them. Only to find out their hours changed and their lazy asses open at 10am now. Grrrrr!!! So, I searched for non-lazy salons in the vicinity that were open and found this little gem. I stopped by and made an appointment for the following day. It's a bit over my budget but I decided to treat myself. My recent luck has not been kind to me and I needed to treat myself. The place is noisy. Lots of chitter chatter going on as well as hairdryers and cool tunes in the background. I was glad if this because today, a Saturday, I fast and my gut was protesting quite loudly. My hairdresser was Charles, the only man in this establishment, apparently. I liked him. He's very gentle with his hands, which I sometimes confuse with inexperience, but that was not the case with him. He's very knowledgeable about hair and actually taught me how to flat iron my fine threads the proper way, to prevent further destruction. A very nice lad indeed. My haircut looks awesome and I look 10 years younger. Thanks Charles! Sorry I called you George. ;) read more

I was quoted a price over the phone for a color and when my appt was finished, the price was $75 more. I would not have come here knowing beforehand that it was not within my budget. The stylist was really rude about it as well and nobody apologized. People ask for quotes to see what is within their budget and what they can afford. Its immoral to then charge someone significantly more for that. Also, left with dried dye on the sides of my face and my neck which DEFINETLY was not worth the extra money read more

Viviana is a blonde expert. Not only does she make my hair nice and blonde, my hair is soft and smooth. I've been going to Viviana for eight years. I recently moved 429 miles away, and I can't live without her. I'm going to drive down for my next hair appointment. That's how great Viviana is. read more

On 2/15/2024, I got my haircut done by hair stylist Jennifer. Highly recommend Jennifer as the stylist you want not only for a haircut but for her knowledge of hair and for her friendly demeanor while in her chair. Unfortunately, I couldn't provide a larger tip as I am unemployed on government subsidies. Thank you Jennifer! read more

I go here for Adrianna. If she moved, I'd follow her. However the salon is also really nice, clean and everyone who works there is super pleasant. I really like this salon read more

Had a great first experience with Jennifer. She was able to blend my dark roots to my lighter ends by color melting. She also toned out the brassiness of a bad color job I got somewhere else. She added dimension to my thinning hair- making it look more voluminous. She keeps it real, listens to what you want and gives her professional suggestions. I'm definitely coming back. Super disappointed today with my haircut after having to wash it today after getting it cut yesterday. I had to wash it because it was hard and knotted everywhere! So I washed it and it literally smelled burnt. After conditioning it, I blow dried it and realized my layers were uneven and the method used to cut my hair or the scissors had damaged most of the ends of my hair. My hair is still knotting which does not happen after conditioning and blow drying. Wouldn't recommend. read more

This was my first visit to Cutlab studio, and I received a beautiful color and cut from Michael. He did a fantastic job all around, as well as reading me very well, as I'm not a super talkative person. The environment of the studio was comfortable and inviting and the same could be said about the other very friendly stylists as well. I would definitely recommend Michael as well as Cutlab. I'm thrilled with my new do! read more

Best haircut experience ever! My daughter wanted to get her haircut for her sweet 16! She had the best experience there! We were greeted and felt right at home! The vibe is happy and the studio is charming and the staff is very welcoming. Amber is one in a billion. The haircut is so perfect that even when it's out of the shower wet and not styled, it looks like it was styled!!! Highly recommend!!! Thank you Amber! read more

When I decided to chop off my long hair I wanted to go to a hair stylist that has a lot of experience in cutting short hair; I wanted a bob cut, long towards the front and short in the back. After searching the Internet I found a perfect place in Beverly Hills. A haircut cost $120 and color $195, my hair always looked fabulous. I got my hair cut at this salon a couple of times until I realized it was not smart to continue paying this price so I decided to start my journey to find a less expensive place. For about two months I went to three different stylists and none of them could give me the perfect haircut. One day I tried a salon in Old Town Pasadena and this is where I met Cat. I showed her pictures of the haircut that I wanted. When she finished looking at the pictures, she explained how she was going to cut my hair. After I agreed, she started cutting my hair into small sections. She believes it is better to cut little by little because if it's not short enough she can always cut more. If she cuts too much, she would not be able to undo it. While she was cutting my hair, I was so nervous but at the same time, I hoped that she could be "the one" that I could always go to for my hair needs. When she was done, I looked in the mirror, then she gave me a smaller mirror so I could see the back. My hair was flawless, just like the results I got from the salon in Beverly Hills; I was very happy. The first time I went to this new location, I was so happy to see her. When I had short hair, I saw her a lot but now I have long hair so I don't see her often. First, she offered me a drink (coffee or tea), then we gave each other an update about our life; I always enjoy talking to her. As usual, I tell her what kind of haircut I want but most of the time I leave it up to her to style my hair. ::Highlight:: Cat has been cutting my hair for over five years. She is kind, professional, funny, a good listener and communicates well. When I have plans to go out, she loves to help me get all Dolled Up by curling my hair. Cat is amazing, she has great hair cutting and color techniques. I highly recommend her!! read more

I rarely write reviews, but came to this page to find reviews to send my sister in order to bolster my recommendation and realized I really oughta write a review of my own. It's been about two weeks since the third or fourth time I've gotten my hair cut by the lovely Jennifer and I've gotten so many compliments and continue to feel so good about it. Jennifer is wonderful. She's a true craftsman with impeccable attention to detail and perfectionism when it comes to evenness. She asks questions and requests photos/description and is overall an EXCELLENT listener, which is really the best thing you can be as a hairdresser!! She's also a very delightful conversation partner and Cutlab is such a friendly and professional-but-welcoming atmosphere. I've lived in LA for almost ten years now and have probably seen at least 15 hairdressers during that time -- Jennifer is hands down the best of them all. Put your trust in her and you'll have no regrets read more

I live in the area and have always been cutting my own hair since moving to LA. Since I was younger I've always had my wonderful step mother, a salon owner and hairstylist in Ohio, to cut my hair/provide guidelines. However, I decided to find another place to seek professional help, haha. After trying a few different places every few months and being okay with the cuts (I'm pretty easygoing), I finally discovered Cutlab! Scheduling an appointment was a breeze, the salon is clean, professional and full of good vibes. Shoutout to Catalina for the awesome cut and mindful service too. Affordable, professional, affable staff, and very cool interior design. My only regret is I didn't try them out sooner. Thanks Cutlab Hair Studio and see you soon! read more

I've been going to Jennifer since Nov 2019. She does a wonderful job! I get just a haircut, and Jennifer always makes recommendation on length and style. This is my wife's post : I sent Monica the photo on the left because she is the only person who can handle my hair. My husband said I looked like Gilda Radner. Because of her, I left Cutlab with the gorgeous hair on the right. Shes the stylist I trust the most at any salon, anywhere and she truly has a gift for doing hair. On top of that she is a warm and lovely human. I drove all the way up from San Diego just because I knew I wouldn't have a better experience anywhere else. It was fine, but not really worth the price for me. I'll probably go somewhere cheaper next time.

Where do I begin? I have major hair issues. I'm biracial and my hair texture is difficult to describe. In any case, I'm really sick of how my hair has been looking lately. I was rather skeptical about coming here, being that I always do my own hair at home. When I arrived, I didn't get a bad vibe at all; in fact, everyone was genuinely friendly. I met Monica and explained (a long explanation) about my hair and what I was looking for. Okay, I didn't know exactly what I wanted but I just knew I wanted to walk out looking better than when I came in! Monica listened and understood what I needed, better than I did I think. She gave me an absolutely fantastic cut and style, and it didn't take a very long time at all. Monica was SOOO sweet, friendly, and funny! She made me feel totally comfortable at Cutlab. I will definitely be going back. Thanks, Monica! read more

This was by far one of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had at any Salon/ hair studio! I wasn't really sure what I wanted for my cut so... I let the stylist do what they do and voila!!! My haircut looks amazing! They textured my hair where needed and took off some length in just the right amounts. I couldn't be happier with the way I feel and look! I feel like I'm a bit better looking today! Hahaha Thanks to the stylists and staff working at CutLab Hair Studio- everyone seemed to have positive energy and good focus towards their craft! I was so darned pleased with my experience at Cutlab. I am a loyal Aveda customer and when searching their website for an Aveda concept salon, I was delighted to find Cutlab, just two miles away! I called them up. After speaking with the very nice gentleman on the phone I was booked in with Jen two days later, perfecto. The salon is located in a super cute part of Eagle Rock and is itself a very comfortable, modern, zen space. Every stylist in the salon was extremely friendly and genuine. Pretentious and stuffy this place is NOT. Now. The Hair. Let me start off with saying that almost every time I go into get my (very) long hair cut, I spend a good amount of time thinking about getting bangs--and I always chicken out. So, of course I went into Cutlab with the same bang ambition. Jen was so wonderful about my hesitations and kindly talked me through the process of getting some bangin' bangs. The result? Bangin' Bangs, of course! I Love my new 'do. So happy with it and so happy with my overall experience. Yay! read more

As a younger guy, I use to just cut my own hair and just be done with it. But as I got older, I wanted to actually have a look that was easy to maintain and style. That's when I met Monica Wood! She is amazing with style and technique. I literally just walked in, met her and told her, "make me look good". Not the best client I know, but what I loved is when she bounced ideas off of me and spent the time to explain what she thought would look good and gave me options. And not only did Monica cut my hair, but cut it in a way that would allow it to grow out if I wanted it too. At the end of the day, I walked out of the salon meeting someone that listened to me, has a great personality, and now has a client for life! I could not be happier with the experience and would recommend anyone to go to this salon and ask for Monica! read more

First off, I should say that I was born and raised in Eagle Rock, so I am always interested in the mom and pop businesses that contribute positively to the neighborhood. Cutlab does not disappoint. I have not cut my hair for nearly 2 years and decided it was time. Thomas, who works in the front was very kind and courteous when I booked my appointment with the amazing Jennifer Hemphill. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted and several stylists that I saw in passing said hello and/or smiled. It was a very chill vibe and super clean. Jennifer is amazing. So personable and skillful. Jennifer clearly knows what she is doing and when someone is that talented, you just let her do her thing. After 2 minutes, it felt like we had been friends for a millions years! Got a discount for a first time customer, too and they use Aveda products...helllooo?!?!
