Music is pretty loud in this small space. We decided on the 3 entrees for 69.00 with a glass of wine. We chose the pepper steak, smothered chicken, orange chicken, catfish and spaghetti, and the bbq catfish. Overall the food was ok., The bbq fish was a little to fishy and the smothered chicken was heavily salted. The star of our 6 dishes was the fried piece of catfish. The food came out quickly but nothing was piping hot. The server was OK as well, he did exactly what we expect of a server nothing more nothing less. I will say next time I would take the drive to the West side location, to me the food choices are better as well as the service.

Best to order via UberEats as to avoid a wait until my 2nd visit Went during lunch and my pickup wasnt ready. They said 10 more minutes. They started fighting in the kitchen. Wholly in Spanish. 2nd visit - rice too buttery and watery. Smothered pork chop wasnt center cut like 1st visit. Mac N Cheese was given for both sides on the wing plate when spaghetti and macNcheese was ordered. Either way, it was salty. Peach cobbler too sweet. Blue koolaid was a win 1st visit but this time... Too sweet. Sugar and Salt has to have balance. Maybe another time in the Spring I'll swing back by but there is a parking lot.

Not that expensive Soulfood fusion stuff either. Good old fashioned soul food. Let me say, it ain't cheap but there is something for every budget. If you cannot afford short ribs, get something you can afford. Duh. Fortunately, I can afford em and so I got them. They were perfect. Gravy was perfect. I was hesitant about the red beans and rice BUT they were some of the best I've had outside of my own. Greens were delicious as well. The portions were huge! Me and my wife were talking about how heavy our plates were. We each had three full meals of each plate. And when she wasn't looking, I ate some of hers too. She got the turkey wings (fire), mac and cheese (fire), and dressing. She said that was dry but when I went to steal some from her it was all gone. It was some good outside the house dressing. For desert we got the pudding cakes or cake puddings...idk what they are really but it was delicious. I have no idea why this place has three stars. Yall tripping. No, it doesn't taste like YOUR mother's but your mother's might be trash to someone. Is it good still? Absolutely.

I came here with some of my trainees after a field trip to the Science and Industry museum. There were 12 adults and we spent about $300, which wasn't bad considering your meal comes with two sides and cornbread. I ordered the baked turkey wings with collard greens and white rice. It was so delicious! I couldn't eat it all because the portions were huge! A lot of my trainees needed to-go bags because it was so much food in those containers. The peach cobbler is amazing too! Not too peachy and not too much breading--a perfect combination. The chef was grateful for us coming in and talked to us too! The host was a sweet man and hooked some of my trainees with some sweet tea on the house. Just beautiful people bringing delicious food to Bronzeville.

So glad we stopped. We were having a hard time finding a place in the neighborhood that just had good food and a place to sit down. I'll be honest, this is not without the neighborhood charm but that's REAL Chicago. It takes me back though. It was nice to see folks coming in and patiently waiting for their orders. As for the food. My god. Everything was spot on. The Mac and cheese was real Mac and cheese. It wasn't hiding behind an overload of cheese. It reminded me of my mom saying get that block of cheese out and get to shredding. It was the real deal. I don't even like cornbread like that but the muffins were banging! Portions were a good size. Prices were reasonable for what you are getting. The sweet potatoes had a special ingredient that I won't share. You gotta go try it. Again, not a huge sweet potato fan but this was like good sweet potato pie. Nothing but good eating here!

One was baked catfish with macaroni and cheese and cabbage. Fish was cajun, which the New Orleans in me liked. The macaroni and cheese was probably the first batch from the kitchen, so it was good. The cabbage was my favorite and I have a feeling that it may be because they were cooked with onions. I ate this onsite at the outdoor patio while they prepared my second order for takeaway. The second order was fried catfish, spaghetti, and mustards/turnips mix. Catfish had a bit of a Louisiana fry taste to the batter. Yep, I approved. The spaghetti was a good side and I enjoyed the greens with the corn muffin crumbled in it. Good thing I ate this when I got home because nothing like some hot sauce on the fish to kick it up a notch. Jamison's is a walk-up. When it's nice outside, sitting on the patio is a good option. I have a feeling it may get busy as the day progresses. I recommend getting there early. If I'm in the area and it's early, I'll stop by again.
