My husband and I are currently in the middle of building a house and the many detailed decisions…read morecan be overwheling. One of those decisions is tile selection. We had been to big-box stores and other large tile stores but left without tile and more design confusion. A friend recommended Mid-America Tile in Romeoville -- so off we went one Saturday. We walked into a bright attractive store with lots of bathroom sample displays and options. The sales guy John was great. He walked us through each room that needed tile and gave expert suggestions for combinaitons (floor tile, shower wall etc). He asked great questions and made the desicion making process effortless. He was not pushy and approached it from a design perspective. He spent a long time with us answering a ton of questions -- but we finally got it all done. I would highly recommend Mid-America Tile in Romeoville.

Bad service. Went into the showroom at noon on a saturday. Store closed at 1 but I knew exactly…read morewhat I needed to purchase. Should have been a 10 minute transaction. Had to wait an hour to talk to a sales person. By the time I was finally able to speak w someone in sales, I was basically told to hurry up, we're closing. After all that, had to pick up my tile at elk grove store. Was told that my order was ready to pick up. Showed up at agreed upon time and was told my order wasn't ready. We had to wait while they picked the order. An hour of waiting. When the order was finally picked, there were two different lots of tile with badly matched colors. They had to withhold the order and go back to the manufacturer for more of one lot. When we went back two days later for the remainder of the tile, they could not find my paperwork. Fortunately, we had our copy to show them what we had purchased. So sloppy start to finish. All of this said, I would be a lot more forgiving about the experience had they responded to my email expressing my frustration with their sloppy handling of my order. I got no response whatsoever. Is customer service a thing of the past? Sad to say but it seems like it is just a fond memory for so many business. Next time I need tile, i will shop elsewhere.

I'm just fully and utterly disappointed. This review is coming months after my project was…read more"finished" because I don't believe in reacting in anger. But I can't sit in my tub or stand in my bathroom without seeing the mess that I paid good money for. This company is called top notch and yet I received some bottom rung remodeling work. Michael was referred to me by a friend who had his company do work in her house. She assured me that he and his team were the best in the business when it comes to tile work and remodeling. But it has become clear to me that I was sent the B team on my project. I'm sure in their world my $20,000 project wasn't worth the time because someone was probably spending more than that, so their efforts went there. Let's start by the false promises made. I hired Michael in September of 2022. Michael told me that they couldn't start my project until March of 2023. I immediately said, no I can't wait that long because another clown of a contractor already messed up and my bathroom was in ruins. To get my money, Michael promised he could move things around and start in Jan/Feb. I really wanted to work with him based on the recommendation so I agreed. The project was started on March 13th, so I ended up waiting anyway. The 2 workers in my house that did everything, tile, electric, plumbing, painting, etc were very nice but clearly are handymen and not professionals in any of those specific fields. Every single fixture in my bathroom has leaked since completion of the project - sink which ruined the vanity and they had to replace it, toilet the first time I used it, drain under the tub which leaked into my living room ceiling and ruined it, and the shower door that leaks out water every time I open it. You might be thinking, oh, that's the door that's a problem, but it's not. The curb from the shower is angled out so the water pools at the door and then floods out when I open it. The leaks were seemingly fixed but Michael didn't even address the improperly angled curb. He ignored it which means I just have to live with it I guess. The tile work is incredibly sloppy, with black grout from the floor smeared up the sides of the walls. The ceiling and wall drywall are messy and have cracks and lines in them. I'm basically waiting for the next thing to fail. My living room ceiling that was ruined from the tub leak was patched horribly. The workers also wanted to just paint the patch they made. I had to force them to paint the whole ceiling to make it look somewhat presentable. And, before they even fixed the ceiling they tried convincing me that the leak was from something else (my chimney, a tree root?, me being too rough in my tub and breaking its seal with Michael throwing in a dirty and inappropriate sex joke). Michael had the nerve to ask me to book another bathroom remodel with me in tears while his crew was tearing apart my living room. Michael is a schmoozer. He talks and smiles and pretends to care. I never was fooled by him but I let him make his over the top gestures all the while thinking, who cares, if he does the job right? But the job wasn't done right. And to top it off, he got into a screaming match with my friend who stood up for me and called him out on his BS. Instead of profusely apologizing to me for what he put me through, I haven't heard from Michael since. Think long and hard before spending thousands of dollars with this company. My bathroom is beautiful, thanks to my design, but it is tainted every time I see their shoddy work.

He came in and gave us a more-than-reasonable price quote and had a plan for everything (even how to puppy- and child-proof the new floors a bit). We were especially impressed with our designer, Jackie (and her assistant Katie). They had fantastic ideas: from designing the overall layout, to help in choosing materials, to even how to paint a difficult area to enhance the design. One of the unique parts of our project was the desire to keep some beautiful existing components (specifically some cabinetry, stone countertops, bamboo woodwork and a sauna) but move them to new locations. Jackie did an excellent job in designing that arranging. We lived onsite throughout the project, so we were able to see the process "up close and personal". All of the construction personnel from LaMantia and subcontractors they used were very skilled and personable. Our project manager, Mike R, kept us informed on progress and who was coming each day. The initial schedule was "almost" met. We got delayed by lighting and electric (more our fault than theirs) in the middle, but they did a great job of an extra push to make sure a critical section was usable prior to a wedding brunch we were hosting. We would HIGHLY recommend LaMantia to anyone looking to remodel their home.

Pete was fantastic to work with! He kept us updated throughout the entire project and ensured everything stayed on track. The overall project went so smooth and fast, Pete and his team overdelivered at every step. His vision matched exactly what we had wanted in color, quality, and style! Pete made the entire experience stress-free, which was a tough ask as we lived through the renovation with a toddler. We actually miss the guys working at our house! Mike and Chris were the hardworking hands behind the transformation, and we can't thank them enough for their impressive craftsmanship! Their attention to detail was incredible and they both worked meticulously to ensure every aspect was flawless, even more impressive as they were working with an older house to begin with! We started with an idea of what we were looking to do. Didn't really know what was feasible or attainable with our space. Pete showed up, reviewed the space and dimensions, took notes on everything we were really looking to get out of the space. He didn't just take down the specific things we asked for but everything we were really hoping to be able to enjoy about the space once done. He sent over designs and reviewed them with us together, had no problem with the numerous adjustments we made along the way. Not just from things we wanted to change about them, but ideas he brought up that would work really well in the space as well. Much of which we didn't even know existed. Given this was going to be a massive update to our kitchen, den, laundry room and mud room; going in we were definitely anxious about how everything would ultimately play out. However Pete communicated the timeline, how it would all take place in which periods, and what to expect along the way. Everyone performing the brunt of the work our direct employees as well. The painters and flooring are from separate companies, but they're all friends and every one of them is friendly as can be. It was comforting knowing that the largest percentage of the work performed was by direct employees and not subcontracted help. Lastly, Pete's pricing structure is top notch. It is broken apart in multiple phases. Our's was a big job, so it was 5 chunks with the first roughly a third of the cost in the first chunk (not sure if that's how it works for all jobs, just our experience with this one). With the last 4 payments being paid AFTER each phase was completed. This form of payment breakdown is also the sign of a well established contractor that knows exactly what he can deliver and when, truly putting his money where his mouth is. We've already discussed other areas of the house we're looking to update in the near future and can't wait to see them come back. Thank you so much again Pete, Chris, Mike and Tim! P.S. Pete, still need my bathroom updated; save some room in your schedule for me ;)
